ZZ Top - It's Only Love Lyrics
I'm gonna tell ya what it's all about
Sweet thang's tryin' to put me out
She gone and found herself another man
She tryin' to let me down as fast as she can
It's only love pretty baby
Baby, what you tryin' to do
Well after runnin' round a time or two
I found out only the best will do
Well it's your own fault for lettin' her go
So maybe now you'll take it slow
It's only love, it drives me crazy
It's only love pretty baby
Well, it's all over now but the cryin'
I keep on payin' the price for my lyin'
Don't let it get you down it ain't nothin' new
You ain't the only one that it's happened to
It's only love, it drives me crazy
It's only love pretty baby
Baby, what you tryin' to do

ZZ Top It's Only Love Comments
The old ZZ Top is the best
That drum and guitar was nice
love the lil ol band fron tejas
Top rules all this rap is bullshit
My favorite zz top album along with deguello
Hey I saw your Brother last night, I'm a younger guy and all of this has taken it;s toll on me. All this fighting an unsolvable problem does not make anyone feel good. People starving to death south of the boarder, just like in places like Far Rock, always getting treated less than equal and played. There is no way to get thru this without making mistakes, I'm sure I have made my share. Making decisions like just kill them, Roll Jets are always very unforgiving, I know even Leaders of Countries that have been helping, do not like doing this. It never Blows Up around innocent people who are just guilty of living there and trying to survive. Also I know ray pushed to get me murder I don't even know what all was said and done. Someone like Taco that knows me well knows I might cry a bit here and there but I would do whatever it takes to look out after Mom. You get to the point you do not want to see anyone any more, just be alone. However we get to the point were Family can sit down and talk. But your Brother can just forget about it, we will just not talk about it. Watching Mom do without and just wanting to get us up to a certain level drives me nuts, it gets the best of me and I am not even myself these days, But I do not regret sticking with her, if I would have left when ray ran me out of town I would not be able to live with myself, sitting here Blind, trying to figure out what is going on drives me over the edge. But I'm gonna put this up, just not Feeling well today.
Before they went Hollywood, "just a little ole band from Texas"!. This is the ZZ that I grew up with! Thanks for posting this!.
Chicken pickin’ wit a touch o’the blues...
I got tickets tonight...I’m in A good mood
Tried to get vip... computer would only spit out GA... must be fate....damn
I can't help thinking that where Fandango left off with Meskin'Blackbird and picked up with It's Only Love was their contribution to Texas Chic.
I remember when the mayor of Houston gave them the key to the city. The photo was even in the magazine Creem.
The caption under the photo said ''Hell, you boys are coming right along''.l know this album wasn't a blues, hard rock or boogie-woogie.But it cemented their claim that they were ''That little 'ol band from Texas''.
Top shelf
WOOOOOHOOOOOOO! YEAH! HAHA!!!!!
Motherfucking Tequila drinking good ol boys from Texas. Anybody comparing these boys to a goddam dumbass band from England is as fucked up as the dumbass band from England these boys sound cant be compared to nothing
grew up on this......its in my dna…….
Thanks, boys.
It's only love and it's only rock n'roll isn' it ? Gibbons plays in Keith Richards style ! And Richards plays in american bluesmen style ...to be continued...
One of their best.
Camp Lejeune 1977 cold beer and It's only love. ZZ's greatest in my eyes . A golden, magic time
This was actually zz tops highest charting single by 1977 .....this is the last of the traditional zz top.
hi sounds great I love it thank you the best
why iz this not a go to for top tracks ? if not their best . . . its tied for it , peac3 , daviz
How in the world did this song not make it into the Top 10 in1976?
Let's hear it for Billy and Dusty's brand of blues.
I have a vinyl 45 rpm copy of this song
I'm gonna tell ya what it's all about
Sweet thang's tryin' to put me out
She gone and found herself another man
She tryin' to let me down as fast as she can

My favorite album they ever recorded. Frank Beard's drumming, especially on the snare, was really good and all the different guitar tones used by Gibbons was just masterful. Plus he played harmonica, fiddle, wrote all the songs, sang most of them, and then brought an ox on stage when they played it live.
how impressive are you!
Get it rolled before you tune in to this one ....
Thumpin' tune...love this Tejas album
This song. Fire. 🔥
Probably my all time favorite ZZ Top song :)
My favorite ZZ Top album. Starts off with a bang with this great song. The album sounded great even on a cheap car cassette player in 1977! Love the Top!
Dyna groove hardly heard these days . Beards drumming ( Harp and drums )and Hams production says it all. Listen and learn. Air and Space. Masterpiece.
What great tune...
We asked Billy Gibbons what song was the hidden gem in the ZZ Top catalog. His answer: the one you're listening to right now.
so cool to hear
A damn fucking great song!!!
DUSTY !!!
Hamm screwed this and other ZZ albums with his cocaine induced remastering. The vinyl and tapes were great but the CD's were a jacked up mess until about 2013 when they re released the original tracks.
I totally agree.
WOW, forgot just how deep the Reverend's well runs, and I listen to his sermon's daily, it's why we must go back, way back to the very beginning. An embarrassment of riches. Some serious harp being blown here, a rarity for ZZTOP songs, he can't play this live, so we will probably never get to see or hear this unless we seek it out.
Before Billy and The Boys went Hollywood, the eternal question was ‘is ZZ Top a blues band with a country influence, or a country band with a blues influence’? If you grew up in Texas, the answer is yes!
hi great song zz top thank you

Love 1970's ZZ Top.
So much better than their later stuff!
WELL AFTER RUNNIN' 'ROUND A TIME OR 2, I FOUND OUT ONLY THE BEST WILL DO
My favorite song from a great album. Love the guitar and bass in this song.
Don't play this song on the jukebox at a bar because it's definitely not this version which is obviously the best! Unbelievable song!!
CD mix that came out in 1990 is awful. The entire album was ruined by replacing almost all of the drumming with a drum machine and an echo box. I treasure my vinyl copy. It has been 27 years, we need a proper CD mix of this, ZZTop's best album. And the last they did with some real musical sense and not just cranked up junk. A few later songs are ok, but nothing like this.
They re-released all the originals in the best way on ZZtop the complete studio Albums 1970-1990 Totally worth the $40 bucks.
40 bucks? I wonder if I can get back the $20 or so I was robbed for the "Sixpack" of the ruined early albums? I guess after 28 years probably not. The only thing that survived intact was the live side of Fandango and the world's most smokin power chords on "Backdoor Love Affair". Super simple but they were blowing the amps up that night. Killing a Marshall is expensive but worth it.... consider Saturday Nights Allright by Elton John. Davey Johnstone melted some hardware on that one.
FRANKS GROOVE
That little ole band from Texas
Saw these guys , Charlotte coliseum , Charlotte NC , late 80 s . Great music , great time , thanks tarheel state. The city grew to big , traffic too much and the damn yankees fucked-up the whole area. Had to move to Florida , still more yankees !.
Blister drummin
someone buy Frank Beard a beer
Leave Mr. Beard alone, you'll mess-up his rhythm, he is after all, the heartbeat of the band.
I know right..? Bad ass.
Ok, the beginning chords sound like something like Keith Richards would play, but hey, the Stones and ZZ Top both claim the blues as the inspiration for their music so why should anyone be surprised their music has similar characteristics?
This song has a Rolling Stones feel. Such a great album ..
More...I want more!
Great song thank you
Best blues based music
Lived through 70's 80's 90's and 2000's music. ZZ Top is still on top
Billy F. Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard can lay claim to being the longest-running major rock band with the original lineup still intact. True, there's only three of them, but 46 years (and counting) is a good run by any measure!
@Ricky Bobby They have Aerosmith by a year. ZZ Top came out in 69 (50 years), Aerosmith 1970....
@da324 ZZTop never broke apart and added other members like Aerosmith.
Luckily I was fortunate enough to see Aerosmith in their heyday of the Rocks tour,Draw The Line tour. Then after they regrouped for Done With Mirrors and Permanent Vacation.
This is in 1977,78,86,87.By far, the Rocks tour show was their best of the four.
I love ZZ. To me they remind me of blue jeans, cowboy boots and Texas dive bars on a saturday night. Fucking love it.
Any time is a good time to hear this tune.
love this tune, underrated
STRAiGHT rock n roll baby!!! thank u zz top!!! Have Mercy!!!
Man I love this!
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I just hear the Rolling Stones in general on this song, I don't know if it's necessarily "Brown Sugar", maybe in a different key. If the boot fits! I definitely hear the Stones influence though.
ya, if the stones came from TEXAS!
hell yeah.. great tune
my number 1 from zz top epic timeless.
How can some dip shit come up with the lame idea comparing this to pedophile Micheal Jackson's Billie Jean. Dude I don't know what kind of dope you're on but it must be f**king good shit. Lmfao what a dumbass
Hey!! They clearly stole the first four beats from Michael Jackson's Billie Jean dammit!!
OK - upon closer inspection, Bille Jean was recorded six years after this - so it must have been MJ ripping off ZZ Top by lifting the first four beats of this tune and directly inserting it into Billie Jean. WTF!?!? LOL
BlueRIff63
I'm glad you caught your gaff.
MJ is an overrated theif, not ZZ.
LOL. Too funny
2:11. 2:56
the stones are fucking whores, as are all brits, thieving ,rip of our shit cocksuckers, the beatles, zepplin, stones, and fucking eric the dick clapton especially should all get on their knees and blow every black musician that ever played the blues from America,,oh, and pay up mother fuckers,
Brits ain't done nothing wrong,,,.... People play all sorts of music..
Robert Diehl yeah you're right, nothing wrong with plagiarism. I mean if you get away with it ,right?
Have you ever rode on a train?
Robert Diehl yeah, but I didn't steal it.
@garygrasser I am American myself, but the train is a British invention..Think about all of the folk songs, blues ,country, etc, in the US that are the subject of trains or even mention the word Train...The train in American Folk Music has been a large focal point of that British invention...What if LZ Clapton Rolling Stones never did a blues song and disliked the music,..They would be called racist and bigoted..Sure LZ did plagiarize ,Stairway to Heaven was in part plagiarized from a Spirit song....They gave the credit where credit was due even though they did swipe from others ad BB King said he did it. He said every one takes something they heard from some where else
Roller rink music!! :)
Dope Drum Break : )
The Stones never made anything like ZZ Top stuff.
THANK YOU ! I've been waiting for someone to say it ! This ( with the original 3-men ) is the longest continually performing band, The Stones, take off for years at a time ! Have mercy brother, and AMEN !
ZZ V Stones in a barfight?
Hands down ZZ
Why?
Stones ain't got no scones.
Pwwt........... Gdiiingggg!!
Same same
@1994g0 They're both awesome in their own way. Period. Different bands, different styles, different sound. Both great.
I can't hear any similarities to "Brown Sugar." Sorry...
Oh, great, thanks, now that's all I hear.
i dont either ..no problem 🙂
great song, great album, my first ZZ Top album , bought it here in Portugal only in 1978.....
sorry, i don´t hear brown sugar, but a diffrent song and a great one
Such an underrated tune
One of the best !!!
They have great riffs in it!
entered Cashbox Sept 4, 1976
Great track, very similar to The Stones 'Brown Sugar' at a slightly slower tempo.
Brittany Brittany, your parents must have gotten a hold of some bad drugs before fucking the night you were concieved. Born in 93 and you're a rock and roll expert. Shut up child....you're making your folks look bad!
Tell it Bru, Some Girls was awesome
Winston Beech I Agree I love Clapton but that cut is terrible. Studio version still surpasses it
It probably is in the same key and similar chord progression.
When this song came out on the radio in 76, I had a friend who insisted it was the Rolling Stones. Then again he also thought half of the Who songs being played were Stones. He was one of those people who could trip out on music but if I started talking about it or analyzing it, he'd change the subject or give me his own simplified and superior analysis. We were a strange pair. We met like a couple of geeks trying to impress each other with our computer knowledge. But he really never knew squat about music... and you don't have to, to appreciate it. But technical discussion was off the table. It wasn't until he moved out of town, that I'd play Brown Sugar and start taking a real listen to what made it tick, what made it such a great cut. It's actually brilliant, it's a 3 minute crescendo - a hard rock version of Bolero with the drums of savages. ZZ's It's Only Love is like Brown Sugar on ludes, it's so laid back, no crescendo. It's so different yet the two songs are kissing cousins. Perhaps not as obvious as the Joe South / Deep Purple tune "Hush", which came out almost the same time as the Beatles "Day In The Life" - neither could ever figure out how they ended up with the same lick. Maybe in a dream.
This tune used as sound check on world wide Texas Tour
Nice break on 3.00
That's the part I wait for every time I play this song!
Yes indeed. Beat the hell out of my dash....every time.
I'm surprised that no one's sampled it in a rap song , hope they never do !
