Zevon, Warren - Figurine Lyrics

Well the wrong kind of people don't want you to change
They just want you to stay the same
They want to keep you in between
So hold that pose like a figurine
Figurine
Don't it make you want to scream?
Don't you get it, yet?
They think of you as a statuette

And the wrong kind of people don't want you to change
They just want you to stay the same
They're gonna ask you 'Where you been?
' Make you wait, like a mannequin
They want to keep you high and dry
To furnish them with an alibi
They want to keep you in between
So hold that pose like a figurine
Figurine
Don't it make you want to scream?
Don't you get it, yet?
They think of you as a statuette

Well the wrong kind of people don't want you to change
They want you to stay the same
They don't want you to be free
They want you to watch TV

Can't believe never heard this before, thought I heard them all. Never stop searching, there is more to life than I (we or you) ever can imagine.

O ye gods!! It would make a FIGURINE cry! Is it actually possible that no one has watched this laser-cut jewel of a Zevon offering for THREE GODDAM YEARS???!? Where are all the supposedly devoted Zevonites out there who have sworn repeatedly that the Rock God of Gower "Avenue" was the be-all, end- all of musical perfection? (they were right!) Warren Zevon does NOT deserve to be allowed to fade away into Rock obscurity, any more than Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, or Michaelangelo would deserve to suddenly vanish from the world of art. What happened, fellow Zevonites? Is it just easier, now that Warren has been gone for over a decade, to just stop hearing the seductive siren call of his music? To forget the heart,-deep pulling of his lyrics? Well, I swore when I received my diagnosis of 3 months ( do they pull this timeframe out of their asses?) over a year ago, that I would not fade into the dark myself without doing all I could to keep Warren's spirit alive. When I do die, will anyone keep up the work, once I'm gone? Warren deserves SO much more than one dying girl singing his praises. Don't let him fade away.....please???

Brenda, you are so much more articulate than I am. I also cannot bear the thought that Warren Zevon will be some obscure foot note in musical history. It seems the tide of musical taste is in a direction I can no longer relate to. Sure, I listen to some contemporary music and enjoy it but it doesn't grab me or transport me to another realm.
It actually makes me feel rather depressed.

Warren was the master of understatement, "this is profound" a lot of his lyrics were profound, most people never tuned in. Thanks for posting.

Always count on Alain for a refreshing Zevon break, and another of his songs I didn't know. Keep surprising me!
