Zappa, Frank - Directly From My Heart To You Lyrics

Direct
Directly from my heart to you
Direct
Directly from my heart to you
Oh, you know that I love you
That's why I feel so blue

Oh, I pray
Our love would last away
I pray
That our love would last away
Yeah, we'd be so happy together
But you're so far away

Well, I need
(Oh, baby, need you baby)
I need you by my side
Well, I need
Yes, I need you by my side
Oh, I'd loved you little darlin'
Your love I could never hide

This album cover was directly from some horribly sad magazine from back when possibly called Men's Adventures. Well ok not the picture just the title of one of the covers. Was a real thing.

One of my childhood friends lent me his older brother's copies of "Weasels" and "Chunga's Revenge" - and well, I was forever after hooked on this brilliant and perverse man's perspective on past/present/future music. The Weasel's album is an extraordinarily perverse collection of music (I know because I "road tested" it on one of my high school music teachers - in his classroom!), but there are some true gems - "My Guitar", "Orange County Lumber Truck:" and bits of "Toads of the Short Forest". Frank simply wasn't around long enough to stretch out and enjoy his various musical interests, and could well have been bemused by the long-ongoing interest in his work. But how I wish he were still around. It'd be great to have a margarita and a chat.

    Q.... F....

    Zappa conducted symphony orchestras!

  17. C.... R....

    Ear sex.

  18. B.... F....

Little Richard wrote this tune, and this arrangement is the Best Version and a tribute to the author!

  19. R.... C....

    Sublime

  20. V.... S....

God Damn. Who is the Violin player on this? I;m to lazy to go through the liners on "Hot Rats"

    V.... S....

"Sugarcane" Harris. He sings it, too.

  22. Q.... F....

And I still get goosebumps hearing it. What a wonderful piece of music...enjoy!

    Q.... F....

I do believe this was originally recorded by Little Richard

    Q.... F....

@dennis duncan long drive golf It was, indeed. I don't think anyone bleeds it out like Sugarcane does, though.

  23. s.... b....

Yo wanna hear some real crazy shit. Check out the little house I use to live in. That ones an original Zappa composition

  24. Q.... F....

First heard this in 1971 when I was 14 years old - a completely fantastic introduction to the blues- and in a roundabout way, to Frank Zappa's musical passions. What a wonderful track - Sugarcane was apparently a bit "undisciplined" when it came to a drink or two, and so his tenure with the Mothers was a bit limited. A big shame, because he could have been a big and wonderful part of the various 70s Mothers incarnations. Viva/Vale Frank & Sugarcane!

  25. Z.... ....

    That's how sex should be.

  26. Z.... ....

    This whole album is stunning.

    Z.... ....

Probably my favourite Mothers LP. Absolutely Free and We're Only In It For The Money are incredible but this is the one I enjoy listening to the most.

  27. M.... C....

The vocals sounds like Cream! Really bluesy song.

    M.... C....

Mateus Campos de Castro Jack Bruce om bass

    The Mothers play the Blues...
    ...and boy, do they ever.
I first became aware of Sugarcane when he joined John Mayall around 1970, and in studying his pedigree, found out that he'd come over to Mayall from Zappa, which is actually one of the things about that time which led me to Zappa.
I knew about some of his early recordings as part of Don & Dewey; I only recently found out that Dale & Grace's hit, "I'm Leavin' It All Up To You," was originally recorded by D & D.
Dig the end of the track:
After all of the epochal blues fiddle-playing, who, at the very end, subordinating himself to precision-sideman status for the entire cut, gets the last lick?
    ZAPPA.

    t.... ....

I very luckily got to see the 'Cane when he was with Tupelo Chain Sex. It was in a tiny community hall show in Canada, during the 80's. They were outrageously good.

  30. S.... F....

This was the theme song of my radio show back in the 70s!

    S.... F....

    well done. well done indeed.

    S.... F....

    .... ....

    And not just your brain.

  38. I.... R....

Not actually written by Zappa, but still one of the topmost isolated moments of his career, with a big help from Don Harris, though.

    I.... R....

I'll check it out on Youtube. It's always good to find new music. I got into a habit of playing Fats Waller all the time on Youtube on account of curiosity because he had pieces on the soundtrack of Eraserhead. I just realised yesterday that WPLJ from Burnt Weeny Sandwich is a cover. I need to check out the original of that as well.

    I.... R....

Yep. The Four Deuces. Good drunk song... :-D

    I.... R....

I never have had white port and lemon juice, though.

    I.... R....

YES! 3 Different Versions! ALL AWESOME!

    I.... R....

LITTLE RICHARD IS "GOD" IMHO! The Beatles LOVED HIM!

  39. Q.... ....

SUPER TUNE / SONG. I'm not a Zappa fan but just love and appreciate this track with Don Harris. Many thanks for the upload here. Memories (1970).

    Q.... ....

Thing is, you can be a big fan of Zappa depending on what albums of his you get first. Out of about 60 or so records, perhaps a third are good to truly excellent, a third are maybe passable, a lot are terrible, and a lot are any combination of the above.

    Q.... ....

80s Zappa Is Hit Or Miss.....Everything Else I Think Is Great IMO

    Q.... ....

never ven heard this until I heard Dweezil play it in his April show , so I looked this up. Fantastic, by BOTH Zappas, Dweezil plays a knock out guitar thruoghout the entire song. Great fucking stuff.

  40. c.... 9....

How come the guy on the cover looks like Ray Liotta?

    c.... 9....

guido dee Looks like Will Ferrell to me!

    c.... 9....

Actually, it's the other way around - Ray Liotta looks like the guy on the cover. Liotta was just a kid when this album was made.

    c.... 9....

    Or Danny Huston

    c.... 9....

No,,,, Ray Liotta looks like this guy !! Ray was still in diaperssss !!!

    c.... 9....

Its a parody from an old schick 20 shaver ad from 1953.

Have a look on google images...schick 20 shaver.

  41. S.... ....

With Sugarcane Harris, who was the Don in Don and Dewey, on violin.
