Zac Brown Band - Jolene Lyrics
Cocaine flame in my bloodstream
Sold my coat when I hit Spokane
Bought myself a hard pack of cigarettes
In the early mornin' rain
My eyes been stung with dust and blind
Held you in my arms one time
Lost you just the same
Jolene
Well, I ain't about to go straight, it's too late
And I found myself face down in the ditch
Booze in my hair, blood on my lips
A picture of you holding a picture of me
Still don't know what love means
Still don't know what love means
Jolene
Jolene
It's been so long since I've seen your face
Or felt a part of this human race
I've been living out of this here suitcase
For way too long
Man needs something he can hold onto
Nine pound hammer or a woman like you
Either one of them things will do
Jolene
Well, I ain't about to go straight, it's too late
And I found myself face down in the ditch
Booze in my hair, blood on my lips
A picture of you holding a picture of me
In the pocket of my blue jeans
Still don't know what love means
Still don't know what love means
Jolene
Jolene
Cocaine flame in my bloodstream
Sold my coat when I hit Spokane

Been there, well said Zac
Best cover so far!
I'm a country boy at heart- love old and new country. This is a damn good cover but I'm still partial to the original by Ray Lamontagne.
Anyone who does not love this song must be a communist!
As someone named Joleen I like this song better then Dolly’s and no not named after any song
I'll be in touch my cousin Kristi and Jayme xx Love You both xx
Jolene who folks bc you cheated on my cousin David Boland Jr when he was married to my cousin Kristi and he left behind his family. Jolene Fournier cheated with my cuz David Boland Jr and now he's not with his immediate family.
I love this song
Awesome video of a picture, clown
Great version. Thumbs down? Are you people nuts?
😁This is my song!! Zac Brown Band is so DAMN GOOD it almost hurts lol
Man, I love this band so much
They've got one hell of a fiddle player
Right. I stopped listening when they released an album with almost no fiddle on it. Maybe it’s time to start listening to them again though.
This is my favorite ZBB song by far. Amazing.
John Dion you should listen to the original by Ray Lamontagne!
@Robert Bingaman I have. Not a fan of that version.
Why are all songs about Jolenes County songs?
I mean whhyyyyyyy
(BTW my name is pronounced the same)
I'm convinced all Jolenes are gorgeous heartbreakers at this point.
I love Ray. They did this song justice.
I love this song
Zac Brown is the best
For anyone not aware. This is a cover of Ray LaMontange. And it's gorgeous.
Been there ive done that never going back there ...
So you must be the man that Dolly Parton and Jolene are fighting over! 😕
My ex-husband and I lived this. He worked on the road and between the drugs and other women there was only broken hearts left. He wouldn't go straight and I wasn't going live a life where drugs were more important than anything.
A man needs something he can hold onto ,a 9lb hammer or a woman like you ,either on of them things will do..says it all
Damn i remember always hearing this song all the time on the radio i was 8 at the time (14 now) this brings back so many memories
mrs stevens
Wow what a cover
A picture of you a picture of me. I still don't know what love means. Jolene lalala
Watch this video https://youtu.be/GhFBegjMKt0
Went to the show in Seattle Friday night. ZBB is amazing live. I’ve always liked their music. I have a new level of respect for these guys.
Ummmm. I had such in my bloodstream
This is the sequel to Dolly’s Jolene. The guy singing is Dolly’s ex that Jolene stole. He was never straight in the first place and dumped Jolene down the road. He went off the rails and reminisced about Jolene because she was a quick but passionate affair. Dolly’s man was no good to begin with.
Uhhhhh this is not the cover
😿👆🥋✊
Redoing this song is a travesty. fucking blasphemes. Why dont you just go ahead and do a cover of Stairway to Heaven while youre at it.
love this song
jolene la la la la la la la la la la

My name is Jolene. I was named after Dolly's Jolene. Listened to every version of Jolene possible. Very much approve!!!
One of my favorites
I swear to God I have truely lived this song.

Ever heard a great song such as this and realize that in a lot of ways that you had been or still am that very same guy ??? Just goes to show how music and the soul can be .........................
I love it
I came here After listening to Addison Agen from the Voice US 2017, I searched for this song for quite a while. She is Runner-up ♥
Do you want to enjoy Youtube videos? Don't read the comments. That's it!
I love the intro to this version. It's really well done.
Best fuckin zbb song by far....... i shit when he played it live in detroit
Zac Brown Band covers Jason Isbell, Ryan Adams...and now Ray LaMontagne. They know good music for sure.
Came here wanting to hate this.....but couldn't. #idontevenknowwhothefuckzacbrownis
Love this song! 😍 Especially when my handsome sings it 😍
Samantha Iturbe hi
I love you Wendy
this is good. if you want to hear a cover with the emotion your looking for, check out Aaron Lewis's take on it.
Ray Lamontagne is a favorite artist of mine. As is this band. One makes me feel stronger emotion, the other sounds like a passionately performed country song. Both have their strong points. I personally adore both, and there's no reason sour feelings should be spouted at either version.
I agree completely!
love this version
I think the discussion of whether this version stands up or surpasses the original comes down to which one you heard first....the original seems more like a song that will grow on you over time, whereas this version is just, well how could you not like it on first listen....unless of course you loved the original before you heard it....
My middle name is Jolene and I love this version! :)
Anyone from Cameron monaghan's ig
I saw this band before they became famous. A $5tickets show was awesome then they became famous.
love it
Cocaine flame in my bloodstream
O Bes a ki pi sup?
This song broke my heart for a little while.
Im 3 years old and new music sucks
You are 3 years old and you can use youtube? wow
Love the way ZBB performs this song.
Named my daughter Jolene got it from this song.
Dawn watch out. She might take Dolly Parton’s man if you’re not careful lol.
Dawn My best friend did too. Today is Jolene’s birthday!! Happy Birthday Jolene!!
Wow. Your unique.
A man needs something he can hold onto.....❤ this song! My name is Jolene by the way:)
I don't fuck with you
I prefer the Ray Lamontagne original version. This is too country sounding for me.
justin park me to its soulfull

CRI thanks for the lyrics.
I swear it’s “booze in my head” (referring to a hangover). Could be wrong tho.
Yea. Ray Lamontagne is the greatest lyricist in history
I believe that title belongs to Eddie Vedder. admittedly he is one of the best iv'e heard.

Zac Brown and Brendon Urie are my favorite artists, it's a weird mix isn't it?
I love it!!!!! They are my playlists hahahha
I forgot to mention Frank Sinatra, but those three are my favorites without a doubt.
Nope same here
I love these guys and I love this song and the way it's done.
They do a darn good job on whatever they set their mind to do
one reason I love this is because it kinda follows my life to date but also is because there is a Spokane Georgia and I live in Spokane, WA.. funny
so I like Dollys Jolene, just don't like how it makes me sound like a home wrecker....this one though, paints me in a better light. Although I know they aren't about me, I just get them sung to me ALOT! This is a great song!
Ok, I'm a Jolene with emerald green eyes and auburn hair...! By the way, maiden name Johnson!
Jolene Cortright same here guys!
Joleen Johnson my name is jolene as well love it cant mixed up with to many people also my daddy got it from Dolly. I tell everyone i should have became a judge on American idol back when on air ,cause so many try to sound lile Dolly lol. Anyway i love it and i tell everyone ill prob be only Jolene u will ever meet, and want forget so I think thats what makes the name so great and im unique as the song 😁
if i ever do meet any Jolene's which is myself amd 2 others ever it is always black headed girls
I agree with you. I am also a Jolene. I love both versions of the song.
The Voice brought me here.
You need to listen to the original by Ray Lamontagne...way more powerful and authentic.
fuck off
this was done on the live Pass the Jar concert - love it -
Such a nice and sweet (good to the ears) song!!
I like Ray's version but I love Zac's better it is more my style.
Yeah I first heard Ray's version at the end credits for The Town. I'm with you in liking Zac's version a bit more. I like the instrumental part more.
The song isn't supposed to be happy, they ruined the integrity of these great lyrics.
Shit. I just love this song. Never heard another even similar sooooooo. Zack Brown and the guys are just great.
0:34... It's Spo-can not Spo-cane.
It's spokane
love the song youth
I like this polished version much better

well of course it is lol
my name is Joleane and this is one of the best songs I love it my ex plays it for me all the time...a deep song!!
Its real deep.
tragically
love zac
one of the best songs ever I live it
no his chest ain't that big
couldn't get into the original version by Ray Lamontagne but damn i love this one.
I hate it when people come onto a song for the sole purpose of talking about how shit it is and about how another version is better. Why waste your time on this page listening to a song that you hate when you could be listening to the version of the song you actually enjoy? It would save so much heartache and butthurt on both sides.
We both have wasted time trying to differ others opinions, at the end of the day who cares. Long as you enjoy it.
+ramblin man true story if you connect with it what does another person's opinion matter.
Shuhh uupp
This song fucking sucks dog balls. Dolly's song is infinitely better. Just thought that you should know.
I believe that this is one of Zac Brown's best songs.
gargois1 this isn't his song lol
@Dr Nick gers Did you bother to read the comment before yours? But thank you anyway Dr. Knowitall.
Ray lamontagne wrote this one .check out his version, just him period ...dude can break shit down
This one, sweet Annie, and Junkyard
My favorite from him
Do people really think this is a cover of the Dolly Parton song ????
+GARY J I can't really see how anyone can think this is a cover of Dolly's song of the same name. Both great songs, but not even close to be taken as a cover.
+GARY J No. The original is by Ray LaMontagne.
no people know it's a cover of new england singer songwriter ray lamontagne
Most people are legally retarded these days
My name is Jo Lene and this songs reminds me of my friend in Spokane who I lost touch with many years ago but I think of him everyday.
