Youngbloods, The - The Wine Song Lyrics
Some folks like whiskey, whiskey's mighty fine
Some folks like moonshine, Lord, they drink it all the time
My daddy taught me, he said, "Son, only way to keep your head in line
Drinkin' that wine wine, wine
Keep your head stoned all the time"
Look at them luscious little bottles, sittin' up on the shelf
Red green and yellow, Lord, they are somethin' else, hmmm
They mesmerize me, the way they sparkle and shine
Drinkin' that wine wine, wine
Keep your head stoned all the time
One snort of Ruby Port really ring the bell
Then a glass of Muscatel sets my head up well
Then this sweetest bottle of cheapest sherry wine
While folks around me insist on startin' wars (baloney!)
Fightin' and a-hollerin', gettin' awful sore
Politics and business, I don't pay them no mind
Drinkin' that wine wine, wine
Keep your, head stoned all the time
(Tell the truth)
One snort of Ruby Port really ring the bell
Then a glass of Muscatel sets my head up well
Then this sweetest bottle of cheapest sherry wine
I say goodbye to my mind
While folks around me insist on startin' wars
Fightin' and a-hollerin', gettin' awful sore
Politics and business, I don't pay them no mind
Drinkin' that wine wine, wine
Keep your head stoned all the time
Get out the bathtub, grandma, and take off your socks!

From a mad keen 75yo Aussie fan.
Always liked this tune.
I Just lived my late teens early 20's all over again! I sang every word as if I have been listening to it all along! haven't heard this song in about 40 yrs, or so. LOVE IT! THANK YOU STUMPY!!!!!!!!!
this was college.. well some folks like whiskey, drink it all the time
Love this fun song :))
They are something else ...xx
Great song
Jesse and Jerry did a duo act one time on a Wednesday afternoon at the "Cafe Wha?" in Greenwich Village with only 4 people there.... me and three friends. They were great and we all went out back and smoke a joint with them :D
The Youngbloods were as good as anybody.
The Bloods did a concert in Jackson, Mississippi in 1972. The promoter lost his ass. JCY told him to just cover their expenses; forget the fee. They don't make 'em like them no more.
Music from my generation. Fun music. Listening to it makes me happy.
None of the cynical, amoral, stomach-turning noise today's young people adore.
Thank you.
Just thinking of this, and singing it, and here it is on Youtuve. Thanks!
Jerry Corbitt's "Queen of England" is well worth listening to as well ;-)
Thanks for posting this. One of my favorite songs and bands
