Young, Neil - What Did You Do To My Life? Lyrics

When we were living together
I thought that
I knew you would stay.
Still when you left me
I tried to pretend
we could make it some way.

I don't care
if all of the mountains
Turn to dust in the air.
(What did you do to my life?)
It isn't fair that I should
Wake up at dawn
And not find you there
(What did you do to my life?)

It's hard enough losing
Without the confusion
of knowing I tried.
But you've made your mind up
That I'll be alone
now there's nothing to hide.

I don't care
if all of the mountains
Turn to dust in the air.
(What did you do to my life?)
It isn't fair that I should
Wake up at dawn
And not find you there
(What did you do to my life?)

I love this album though sadly it is often overlooked and criminally underrated. If im not mistaken the record company used this, his solo debut to experiment with making a stereo album that can play on a mono record player. This gamble didn't pay off though and the finished product sounded awful enough to neil that he remixed the entire album and re-released it nearly a year later. Actually ran across and bought this album, harvest and journey thru the past at a local pawn shop recently which is awesome because that kind of luck usually eludes me!!

Dan I couldn't agree with you more... criminally underrated.... I bought the Japanese import version of this in 2005 & it sounds great....
