Young, Neil - Birds Lyrics
Lover,
there will be another one
Who'll hover
over you beneath the sun
Tomorrow
that never come
Today
When you see me
Fly away without you
Shadow on the things you know
Feathers fall around you
And show you the way to go
It's over, it's over.
in your wings my little one
This special
morning brings another sun
Tomorrow
see the things
that never come
Today
When you see me
Fly away without you
Shadow on the things you know
Feathers fall around you
And show you the way to go
It's over, it's over.

Makes me cry every time.
beautiful song! incredible! but bad piano play
possibly the most gentle love song I know. incredible, as trump would say ...
When I first heard this song it was a b-side....quite different to the LP take....not as good I don't think......but it depends on which one you heard first I suppose....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vBv8aqlI88
This goes to my dog, fucking love you man.
I just realized that I didn't comment that song so far. well, it's one of the most beautiful songs ever written - and perfectly performed. it's perfect when you had a sweet little joint and some good friend shares your nostalgia.
Tune and lyrics was dictated by god of music! What a song?!
Pahulaan anong titel nitong kantang ito
one of the deepest moving songs i've ever heard, i can play it over and over again and feel something every time.
How can something so short tear me up so much inside? A few minutes and i feel like i just watched my life flash in front of me
This man, this album and particularly this song helped me battle my depression. Many shit had piled up together and soon after, the inevitable split with my gf at that time came.
This may sound dumb but at the moment it was pretty hard. Love you Neil, I can't thank you enough.
For me this song tells mord of his inside private life , may his babies rest in peace .absoulutely beautiful. Tears come to my eyes , the lyrics helpedme meheal . I thank uou
This is a classic Neil Young song from when I was a young lad. This song is entangled in a web of songs from my youth that shall always be part of me. And so many of these songs are from Neil. Thanks for being part of my reality, Neil.
Sometimes this is the song I play to myself when I need a reality check. *sigh*
my bird died
Congratulations
Jesus, my roommate posted this .
But, uh, thank you..?

My dad was never a good husband and my oldest brother says this song reminds him of the old man

masterpiece
Happy 70th Birthday. Young Forever.
i'm in the winter time of life and i hear this song and tear up over loved ones lost - beautiful and moving
I lost my mom on 9-6-15 to MS after a 29 year war against it. Mom loved Neil Young and we had After The Gold Rush. Neil once said when people die they are still around. Because their memories live on. That is true here. I love you and miss you Mom!!! RIP!!!
Loved this song from the first time I heard it, as with most of Neil's repertoire.
There is a very interesting cover I found recently. Good but of course not the same as the original.
By Bugge Wesseltoft & Sidsel Endresen: 1aOPDtzKGaw (can't post a link)
this is the best album neil every wrote about his life of trumph and pitfalls sit back and reflect you will see the thoughts....
Doing one of the space ship levels in Kingdom Hearts while listening to this song put me in another world. What a masterpiece.
Deep, thought provoking maudlin lyrics...just ate my pb and j and now I miss it....sad , very sad.
"After The Goldrush" is a perfect album. Music, lyrics, cover ...
+Marc Vanbuylen - I've requested a copy of "After The Goldrush" to be buried with me.
I just realized that this song is the opposite of Neil's Buffalo Springfield song "Expecting to Fly". In that one his lover is flying away and leaving him behind; in "Birds" it's the other way around.
wow.. thank you x
this song is way too short...........top of my list as best tune ever.
Yeah, I put it on LOOP and listen to it many times in a row!!
StPalliGrl I totally agree!
E = MC2 also short, but it hits you right where it counts. thank God i can play it over and over again by clicking loop. God bless Neil Young for sharing his precious gift with us,
All the beauty in the world is right here.
On the short list of most beautiful songs of all time
First time I've heard this since college in 1971(?) The most beautiful song I've ever heard.
Same here!
yes you are right.
agreed...
This song is fucking beautiful.
One of the moments of my life seeing Neil Young perform live in London, there are some music artists that deserve the legend ticket. The guy is superb.
I like that, a lot !! Bout the prettiest I've ever heard him sing
I listened to this song.
"Feathers fall around you, and show you the way to go. It's over. It's over." Damn
i find it
Thats it. Im movin to Canada.
lmao cuz of neil or our fuck'd up govt?
same here from Japan.
This is the best vocal performance by Neil Young I've ever heard. I knew I liked the song (from when Bette Midler covered it), but I was curious to hear the original.
This is my all time favorite Neil Young song. Play it at my memorial.
It was at a Very Dear Friends memoriial that it became so very profound for me, just BEAUTIFUL............
Yeah this one and 'HELPLESS' get me everytime I hear them!!!
Play this song at my funeral
I listen to this song and two words come to mind.... Profound beauty. I have such admiration and respect for this man. He digs deep and he writes from the heart and he writes for himself. He has stayed true to himself all these decades and writes for the love of music. He has stayed on his own musical path and if he gets tired of one path, he creates another one. But he does it for himself, not his listeners. If we happen to like his music, all the better. He has never been a follower and that speaks volumes about the character of this man.
"Tomorrow see the things that never come today". So much hope lies in those words. Lyrics like those simply don't get any better than that.
By far the most intelligent comment I have seen on Youtube in my years of surfing it. You hit the nail right on the head. So many musicians and artists get caught up in the business of music, and forget the reasons why they became musicians in the first place. Not Neil Young. He writes what he wants, and plays it the way he wants....no influence. Pure genius. The 'Mozart' of our century.
@Tim Stoddart Thank you for your kind reply. I was simply speaking the truth. He is most definitely a rare and brilliant artist indeed. Along came Neil Young and they broke the mold. I have to say that I place Mark Knopfler right up there with Neil Young. Two men with completely different styles but with equal brilliance. They do it out of their love of the music, not the almighty dollar. When they perform, you can see it, you can hear it and most importantly, you can feel it.
"An artist feels and invites us to share that feeling, if we dare."
Dial it back a little bit, baby
Sorry I could not help but write a humble reply to your amazing comment... I just loved the way you expressed your feelings about this amazing musician... Take care and keep the great music flowing
Very touching. Sorry for you loss. Some songs are like birds. A writer sends them out not knowing where they will land or who they will touch. Much like a bird landing in a tree and singing a song that only you can hear.
"No More"! - pvu4RS9qYAY
I always used to fear this song. Now I find it comforting. Oh god.
"Tomorrow, see the things that never come today". Some of the most beautiful words pen has ever put to paper.
Makes me cry, even though I'm not going through anything like that,
So beautiful.
I can't believe you uploaded this song on June 6th. I ran away from home after my son died on June 6th. I bought this CD at a truckstop in Texas, and heard this song. I knew my son was saying good bye to me. I sing this song at gigs and always remember that time that I listened to this song over and over again and cried my heart out. thanks
Beautiful song. Dan Fogelberg, after a glorious career recorded BIRDS as his final recording, knowing he was succumbing to prostate cancer. A wonderful very emotional rendition. (Can't post the link here for some reason but search youtube FOGELBERG BIRDS)
Beyond beautiful...
this is great next to after the gold rush

Why can't I quit you, Birds?
@PresOtaniSDeath When I died I've stopped caring about music.
@jacobladders
I don't know if it's even worth writing this reply because you're so full of negativity and aggression.
What would YOU understand about Neil Young ?
Anyway, I just wanted you to know that 'rockinroller7' is one of the most genuine Neil Young Fans around. And he was already a Neil fan long before your eyes ever saw the first dawn of your life.
Don't get back at me with insults ... I won't respond to that.
May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.
ahhh..........to be 16 again
Itt's oveeeeeeer! ♪♫♫
This is my Wife Helen's song. She can hear it, no doubt about that.
Great up thanks.
So sad...but so beautiful
@SuperLance31 Dude, grow a spine. You chose to put a negative comment, obviously there are going to be people disagreeing with you. If you don't want that, don't put negative comments.
@SuperLance31 No one's forcing you to listen to it
they played this song at my grandfather's funeral a couple of months ago. listening to it makes me miss him even more
Thanks for posting this; so beautiful.
@tamerswan *facepalm*
