Canadian voices really do sound entirely different to Americans in a way..

@Yeet ‘n Greet I'm Canadian and 9/10 I can tell if someone is American or not. as you know in America they have that "Tang" in their voice in the far south well the 1s in the north have it too be it much lighter and differs from regions (you really don't notice it unless you truly listen intently). it also helps that they pronounce some words differently from us.

William Hutt I do notice that. I think in talking I find Canadians voice sounds a little more annunciated and lifted. But people from the northern USA can sound pretty similar, and hey Minnesotans talk with that stereotypical “Canadian” accent. And in the US there is obviously a wide range of very strong and distinct accents. But for singing, I find it harder to notice. Heck when I was a kid my mom thought that Coldplay were Canadian and they’re British lol

William Hutt the part I was asking is because Amber said they sounded “entirely different”, and I didn’t notice how their voices sounded THAT different from your run-of-the-mill American pop stars from that era.

Its hard to believe it will be 10 years this Sunday since Haiti was brought to its knees by the earthquake. I traveled there a couple of months later to shoot a documentary and what I experienced still haunts me. Wavin' Flag became the theme song for the world-wide relief effort that rallied to the devastated country. It played constantly on the radio while I was there & it seemed to offer a glimmer of hope amid the carnage - the idea that We could actually come together as one people and do something truly remarkable there. The song still brings back visceral memories & to this day, I can't hear it without tears running down my face.

Of course the World forgot and now Haiti faces a political and economic crisis on par with the earthquake. 10% of the population - over 1 million people - are facing starvation! And the World barely notices now.

Please Remember Haiti.

The sad part is in five years Haiti will still be exactly the same begging for money while still having babies
