Yorke, Thom - And It Rained All Night Lyrics
And it rained all night and washed the filth away
Down New York airconditioned drains
The click click clack of the heavy black trains
A million engines in neutral
Fifty feet of concrete underground
One little leak becomes a lake
Says the tiny voice in my earpiece
So I give in to the rhythm
The click click clack
I'm too wasted to fight back
Tick tack goes the pendulum on the old grandfather clock
I can see you
But I can never reach you
And it rained all night and then all day
The drops were the size of your hands and face
The worms come out to see what's up
We pull the cars up from the river
It's relentless
Invisible
Indefatigable
Indisputable
Undeniable
So how come it looks so beautiful?
How come the moon falls from the sky?
I can see you
But I can never reach you
I can see you
But I can never reach you

Yorke, Thom And It Rained All Night Comments
Still reminds me of the Great Gatsby (the book not the film)...
God, I love the transition from Atoms for Peace to this song. If I'm ever on a train about to fall asleep, this part of the album always wakes me up and it's super memorable for that.
I broke my back and it wasn’t good enough. What do we tell each other now that things start to move fast? Do we distract ourselves because we’re hacked and fume about the nosey ducks reading our very lives In some dark alcove of the soul? Is everything in its right place? Is it time to disappear completely? I would take one more walk and enjoy the sweet air and sunshine while you are still made for it. Soon we’ll all be looking out our windows on that rainy day that won’t stop.
I can’t fucking stay silent anymore. This song is life, the universe, and everything else. It’s beautiful.
This is the best rap song I've ever heard!
Song sounds like it's describing a world post a nuclear diaster
but i can never reach you...

Scarier than the demon that haunts me.
I am still thinking about you and the way your legs look in that skirt. TURNED me on .

Anyone getting Great Gatsby vibes from this song? (The book more than the film, I haven't seen the film though...)
This should be in some sort of dark action or comic book movie or show
Where's the burial remix at?
Love this, manic but beautiful in a inner city and mad world sucking us all into an abyss of unknown doubts and fears sort of way. Lol.
Works with me!
DESDE Argentina difrutando Thom Yorke su musica es : Mas que Arte
"One little leak becomes a lake," says the tiny voice in my earpiece.
This song never gets stale, brilliant synthesized sound.
I would have never thought of this rhythm
the burial version of this amazing
Where can I find it?
I can never reach you my love
The lyrics and style of delivery reminds me soooo much of U2's Bono. Great song.
Bono is seriously shit compared to Thom Yorke.
but i can never reach you
This song always makes me feel like I'm an astronaut tripping in outer space grooving to Thom Yorke's voice
Absolute masterpiece...Makes me think of the film Taxi Driver.
Travis Bickle! One day a real rain will come & wash all the scum off the street.

@***** I did to this song when my mate was there. he got a bit scared but I couldn't help it
@Erica A haha really? i can't imagine crying to thom yorke. his music is so jading.
Fucking pussy.
+Erica A Maybe because he's a very emotionally involved musician. Radiohead helped me turn my life around in a bad spot and I'll always have an appreciation for this man and his beautiful music.
+Kaji Lucilfer DAMN THAT'S EDGY, I WISH I WAS AS COOL & EDGY AS YOU
Raining like crazy here in Southern California!

Thom yorke is GENIUS. In all of his songs, I can feel the passion amd emotion that most artists & songs lack. :)

I agree, such an underrated track. Y'all should check out Wise Cub's version!
there are "york" air conditioned devices, but you must know that already»» it was funny one time time when i begun to listen to this album, i was in a room, looked up to the air condicioned "device" and saw york...well you can figure out the rest. when we begin to listen to radiohead/Thom Yorke we see it everywhere lol...nevermind
Maybe Lætitia Sadier?

Ahem... Monty Python.
most of good stuff is underrated, that is its destiny
Such an underrated track
did rory mcilroy really hit that shot?
I'm ready for another solo album! Seriously I think Thom Yorke could be 80 and still be putting out insanely good music.
And what do you think about "Tommorow's modern boxes" or "Suspirium"?
this man is what is called a fucking genius
@itmustbeloveee my favorite part heh
this song is badass it hits hard
@laserbeam91 at least this way we won't have to share him with the rest of the world ;))))
0 people got rained on all night. Wait... that didn't work as it usually does.
@kennjad I think that with the way he uses "when mephistopheles is just beneath and he reaches up to grab me" in videotape and " baby alligators in the sewers" just such a unique way with lyrics he has eh
@kennjad
The comment made me laugh, but I also gotta disagree - I think the word "indefatigable" has a great natural meter to it - now as to how many singers would THINK to, that I've gotta give him credit for.
Awesome song. Thank you for posting.
♥
I can see you
But I can never reach you ..
after the new radiohead album i am looking trough the eraser again to see which one i like better. but i like them about as much. The Eraser has more standouts tracks. but King of Limbs songs are all fine. they just aren't truly great
relentless
invisible
indefatigable
indisputable
undeniable
when i think about it, its kinda sad that thom yorke is a little underrated cause hes so amazing!
@hashiepashi yeah, "The Eraser" piano chords are Jonny's so i guess it makes sense.. thanx!
@whateversunsaid he only plays on the track "The Eraser" I believe
haha i was gonna say, hey this guy sounds so much like the lead singer of radiohead...
but then i realized maybe thats because he is the lead singer of radiohead
bahahaha blonde momentt(:
@PennsylvaniaRaven its called electronic stupid, just because it doesnt have string s or a drum head doesnt mead its bad dumbass
@PennsylvaniaRaven You call Death Metal well written!!!! :0 You sir do not know real music
I don't like death metal very much but I can get on with quite a few heavy metal songs
does johnny greenwook play in the album too? this would absolutely explain how articolate and clever the sound of "The Eraser" is
