Yoakam, Dwight - Trains And Boats And Planes Lyrics

Trains and boats and planes
Are passing by,
Could mean a trip
To Paris or Rome
For someone else
But not for me
The trains and boats and planes
Took you away, away from me

We were so in love,
And high above
We had a star
To wish upon, wish
And dreams come true,
But not for me
The trains and boats and planes
Took you away, away from me

Trains and boats and planes
Took you away,
But ev'ry time I see them pray
And if my prayers
Can cross the sea,
The trains and boats and planes
Will bring you back,
Back home to me.

My favorite bluegrass song. Thanks Dwight & company.

One of my favourites. Play it every time I have a Dwight Night :)

As with Suspicious Minds, this is really a good old song for him to cover. He does it very well.

    Dwight is just amazin'..................thank-you..............!

I think this is, far and away, the best cover of this song. Why do people say it was one of the "lesser" Bachrach/David compositions? Precisely because they don't understand that it is all country.

I like the Everly Bos. also. Try them.

The box Tops made it very popular

I agree wholeheartedly with robert maynard's post about Dwight Yoakam being the best country/rockabilly performer since John R. Cash. There are my two favourites. I'm only sorry it took me so long to discover Dwight! I grew up listening to Johnny Cash.

Hi, Christian D! I'm so pleased that you think Dwight is amazing, too.I only discovered how awesome he is thanks for a musician friend a few months ago. I must see him in concert somewhere someday.

I saw him at Casino Rama a couple of years ago. Great performance, but kind of a lousy audience. Casino shows are weird.

Dwight and his band were truly great- I'd been waiting to see that since the 80's!

Thanks for your post. I sure hope he returns to Ontario some time even if it is at a casino. He seems to play a lot of shows in this type of venue.

This is one of my favorite C sides.

Thank you so much for putting this up......one of his remakes that shows what an absolute genius he really is!

Thanx for posting this. Dwight is my all time favorite singer/songwriter. I've been rediscovering his music. This Time and Population Me were my two favorite albums.

A great big thanks for putting this up.. I have been listening to Dwight ever since his first album over twenty years now. I still have Gutiars and Cadillacs on record. With out question the best country/rockabilly performer since John R. Cash. He walks the walk and talks the talk. Like Cash everything he touches turns to gold. This song once again proves it.
