Yes - Our Song Lyrics
Toledo was just another good stop
Along the good king's highway
My fortification took me by surprise
And hit me sending me sideways
Spellbound - Roundly - Good for sunshine
Singing the Rule Britannia
And this is where it grabs you
There's method in the key of C
Toledo's got to be the silver city
In this good country
Our song
It gives us a reason
Our song
Music has magic
That stuff of syncopation
Ever tried driving it to golden heights
Just simply jiving it
My mystification it got a
Jewel skies crazy spacing it
Hot sun - Crowded - Screams high voices
Singing speechless
Touching of the healing heart
So this is where we really start
Music is a shout of foregone conclusions
As long as music plays its part
Good good part
Our song
It gives us a reason
Our song
That good remedy
Music has magic
It's good clear syncopation
Treat it good
Treat it rightly
And if you get it flowing
The harmony is glowing
So get ready
So get ready
Don't go toledo toledo don't go
Music - Good to you
Music - Good to you

Yes Our Song Comments
When you got 1000 miles to go and not a lot of time to get there, this is what makes it all happen. Cranked up to full volume and singin it at the top of my lungs makes me love what I do! God bless Trevor and the boys!
! Our Song!<3!
Cracking riffs
Yes's total re-invention of themselves on this album is one of the most remarkable by any band, ever. Huge credit goes to Trevor Rabin, as well as (of course) Trevor Horn. Goes to show that talent will out...
Bravo! Been to Toledo, (Toledo - Ohio, US) and back! Now some real world magick for the KIng's Highway to a Stop called Toledo - Circa 1690, Spanish Explorers blazed the road from the Rio Grande across Texas to the River San Francisco (Sabine River) over 500 miles, once known as the El Camino Real and officially as "King’s Highway", one of the oldest, most traveled routes in the US.
Today we can only travel parts of the historic El Camino Real a.k.a. King's Highway.
1929, it was incorporated into State Highway 21 which crosses the Stop at the Toledo Bend Reservoir at the Pendleton Bridge.
Now in our times, it includes the Sabine River and it connects to Highway 6 in Louisiana.
Magickal verses and music indeed! Beautiful!
I don't listen to this album to much but boy when i do..feelings ELEVATE!
That's so funny that of all the cities in the world they could sing about, they chose Toledo
Chris Squire's BASS!
Breaking news. Trevor Rabin is a better player Steve Howe.
Trevor(s) pulled yes outta the 70’s as much as we don’t wanna admit it. I love this album. It’s up there w drama , relayer, close , and all of their albums... yes is a constant shift.embrace and enjoy.
Stephen King and Peter Straub wrote The Talisman, just before this came out. I think the reference to Toledo and the good kings highway comes from that story, but I read it so long ago that I can't place anymore.
fortification and fornication are similar words. that's my latest jest and joke.
this and changes are such good songs its crazy, these guys are elite good ppl such harmony im speechless lol
How many of you out there realize that 90125 is the UPC code for the album or CD.....no really, check it out
YES is at the top of their game on this album \m/
The joy and happiness this and many of their songs express are unparcelled.
This song is seriously so fucking good UGHHHHH
❤️❤️❤️
My memory of this song...watching 2 high school girls with long hair, blasting this out of a boom box, and dancing as they get on a school bus. I still can see them when I hear this song.
The chord progression is absolutely fantastic.... And what a out the bassline?? Magic👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I think certain types of music make the brain release the right amount of endorphins at the right time, and cause such an emotional impact, every time... I don´t know, it just happens to me. The whole album is such a gem.
I wish Alan White had written more often in the group. He's responsible for some of my favorite Yes bits, including this incredible track. He's like the Richard Wright of Yes, as well as also being Nick Mason.
YES BLEW MY MIND IN 1971 FOR THE BETTER,,,SPACE TRUCKIN STILL,,LOVE YA JON,,SPIRITUAL LEADER,,ROCK GOD,,HAIL TO RHE GODS OF PROG ROCK!!!MUCH TO ALL👽
JON ANDERSON OUR SAVIOR, SPIRITUAL GOD OF ROCK👽THANKS JON/YES BAND FOREVER
Tony Kaye se reinventou nesse álbum, muito bom sua participação usando sons modernos mas sem perder a tradição do grupo.
Holy shit, haven't heard this in a long time. Just another little gem from a great album.
ANOTHER CLASSIC SONG BY WHAT COULD WELL BE THE WORLDS INLY REAL PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND IF THERE. EVER WAS ONE ! YES. WAS....IS...AND ALWAYS BE THE MOST COMPLICATED MUSIC TO PERFORM BY THOSE COVERING IT OR TRYING TO RE-CREATE THEIR CLASSIC SOUND ---FACT!!
Memories of summer 1988 in New York listening to this album over and over on my walkman.
this was the b-side on the owner of a lonely heart single . . amazing
20 peoples like despacito and don't like this
why... this year song is just a piece of shit
Perhaps the last great "classic rock" album. The power guitar is unapologetic, brash, even a bit cheesy....recalling an earlier era. I love it and this is one album I come back to often. Great band, and sad that the current gen may have never heard of them.
Damnation, that stinger at 2:14 still gives me chills and I've had this album since it was released.
Best song on the album.
great song! intro riff is amazing!
Saw this concert in the round, Kansas City.....fantastic!!!
How the hell is that piano part near the end played by a human being? One of the most amazing bits of music I've ever heard.
Of all the albums I loved in my 80's teen years, this was the album I treasured most.
Great memories of my freshman yr of hs and seeing them on tour at the Spectrum!!!!
You .misspelled "Rectrum"... my god, but I hated the way they (and a whole lot of other acts) sounded in that abortion of a venue!!
(Edit: oddly, the Drama tour show was one of the few that actually sounded *good* in that building!)
This song was inspired by a conversation between Pete Townsend and Kerry Dougherty.
A song of Vistula from Yes.
I don't know how many people who are watching listening to this understand this but this song and album is just so different from what the band did before. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it just goes to show how much the band changed in the eighties.
Yes, it's very different from their brainy prog rock from before but I think it's awesome how they managed to stay relevant and find new fans, years later. I even liked "Big Generator", which many ridiculed.
a thought for the huge Mr Chris SQUIRE
In an album loaded with gems, it's great to know that Yes included this awesome tune- written for & about musicians!...
Yves sensacional!!!
from 81 to 84 that was the times man in high school I could listen for ever this was one of my favorites...we didn't have a chance hip-hop back then they ruled..
krocas and in living color was it for me we made it...,
el grupo musical "YES",es mi banda favorito.
I like the part where he goes woop woop uh uh yeah
By far my favorite on 90125.. Andersons high vocal range. The envy of many a man.. great energy, and guitar and synth work here
SportsScene Tonight was used for WLWT-TV,Channel 5 Cincinnati,OH back in 1984.
There’s method in the key of C, Toledo got to be the silver city in this good country
I always liked a lot this song :)
8 people don't like amazing synth chords and general euphoria.
This certainly lifted my spirits.
The bass in this song makes me smile till my face hurts :-)
Big hit. Great song. Huge fan of YES. BUT, Teledo is shit!! ALL OF OHIO IS SHIT!!! BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. CLEVELAND IS THE ARMPIT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!
I defy any contemporary recording artist to duplicate this level of excellence by even half. There will never again be a time when popular music will combine the time and talent needed to create a song (let alone an entire album) such as this. I'm glad I was old enough to see it when it was created, and so sad that future generations will never experience that sort of thrill.
You dont know that. My generation may not have the experimental clout you guys did, but if we wanted it enough, we could easily attain this level again. It's all a matter of trying
@Scotty McAllister Does kevin agree ;)
I couldn't agree more. The 50s 60s 70s and 80s were the golden era of recorded music. Today's music is boring, depressing and limited to the same 4 chords. Dumbed down to suit the postmodern aesthetic of image, group identity and deconstructionism in relationships and the family unit. I don't hear positive messages about love in today's music, only what's about, "me", "myself", and my "issues" and how I'm so "independent". I'll stick to love, romance, and passion. Long live rock and roll!
the real music is DEAD.................... period
My sentiments exactly. Too bad more of our gen didnt get it
Great song!
Great bass!!!
awesomeness too
his voice is AMAZING!
one of my favorites
What a bass line! RIP Chris...
hate the cheesy 80s keyboard intro. The rest is o.k, but still the weakest track on the album, imo.
taradead no
I have to admit I kinda' forgot about it.
LOVE that intro, cause it makes what follows all the more powerful....!!
it´s the album that changed everything for yes i think. i must say that still today i don´t know if i love it or if i just care a bit. my feel is that is poor instrumentally. it does not fulfill me; most of the times i wish i could like it more than what i do but "it" does not get me "there". most of it is in deed good ideas.. but the final product it seems, it is week. ( i hate to say it but that´s how i feel n think ). it could be so much better..
tomas hernani This was the 80s. it was suppose to be Cinema. Band members could have side projects back then. they didnt have to prog constatly. If you didnt know it was Yes. i bet you'd think differently. also like Genesis at the time. they were trying to make some money after spending alot of their earnings on lp production and lavish concert presentations.

yes at their best, too bad songs like this ain't played on fm radio stations anymore in the pittsburgh,pa area ,like 5150 song from van halen in 1986.
Ever tried driving it to golden heights?
Just simply jiving it?
Zé Ricardo fraco!
This is my favorite song on 90125, and it could be the best song on 90125. I know Owner of a Lonely Heart was the big hit, but this song hits notes that Owner doesn't.
1000% Agree. Absolutely a masterpiece. The bass and drum perfomance is from another planet...
Whole Don
It is about the day he accepted jesus christ as his lord and savior!
Love trevor Rabin's guitar work in this. This was one of my first songs along with Steve Howe's mood for a day I learned on guitar when I was about 13. Love the short little gtr solo 1:52. Painstakingly dialed the knobs on my Peavy heritage amp. Actually it wasn't painstaking at all. The pain was hauling that beast of an amp around 😉
Changes and Leave it were better. But this is a good tune.
Amazing song
That it is.

"There's nothing in the KFC."
Unhear that.
Actually, it's "There's nothing in the key of C..." Musician slang...
LOL. I love reading replies to year old comments like this. You're awesome.
Michele Maurin "There's method in the Key of C"
I always heard "there's method in the chaos, see"
ecxpac fuuuuuuuuuuuck
Chris Squire mestre!!! Linha de bass foda d+. RIP mestre.
Great song to play drums to, lots of groove
Yes :-)
Great song.Thanks
Rest in peace Chris one among best bassist out there :/
great song!
I don´t know who is the best in this song: Alan, Jon, Chris, Tony or Trevor Wow !!!! Somebody Help me.
I'd say bass is awesome.
The bass lines is superb
Squire is superb!
All of the above...
STILL DIPSET!!!
Anderson ad Squire magic.
one of my favorite post steve howe songs, what a shame steve didn't play on it,but, trevor rabin did a awesome guitar on it.
dipset brought me here
You are all wrong ! ! !
They are talking about the Toledo of the
Holy ! ! !
When I heard the sad news that Chris had left us, this is the first song that came to mind. Guitar Player called it "a one-song electric bass primer", and it was the first complete song I ever learned on the bass, back in 1984. RIP.
There's nothing in the Key of C, Toledo's (Ohio) got to be the Silver City in this good country...
+Joseph DeGregorio "There's method in the key of C".
Mr. Slickstar15 is that how old you are or is that your IQ.... I'm gonna guess ... hummmmm.... IQ??? I knew it.
Hey stoneroller ir was before Madrid... but a very good observation.
Just misses being a masterpiece because of the weak chorus, IMHO. The rest is brilliant!
My favorite lyric: "Ever tried driving it to golden heights/Just simply jiving it"
I love the Chorus!
It fits
Refrain is actually very powerful in its simplicity. All the song is giving a sense of speed and running, while the refrain is like getting to an end, relaxing and enjoying thoroughly - and Yes had surely very much to enjoy among *_their songs_*
💙 this song is great! :-)
This will never go out of style!!!!
Not sure how much Yes ever was in style lol. Still I get your point
Great, great song. Thanks.
Rabin's lick at 1:58 !
Brilliant!
Holy fuck I never did pay much attention to it anyhow that guitar solo with its closed neck pickup sound is a small jewel and its end just brilliant !!!
Thanks for underlining it.
imagine if this song came out today - it would be #1 for years - !!!
It was my favorite song on the album since day one. I was also alone for over 30 years as a Marillion fan. Its a great feeling though when the rest of the world FINALLY catches up to your good taste and passion.
Bass line is ridiculous
Yessir!
They did? That's news to me(us).

awesomeness
Kick ass !!! Reminds me of jammin gears in my pinto, trippin balls on some 4 way... I still love this album... No more 4 way though lol
Did a 4 way hit of LSD 25 on rice paper once and 15 minutes later I KNEW that the Black Camel was going to kneel at my door that night, that I had bought my life for $2.50, and every song on the stereo had something to do with death in it. (e.g. the Guess Who..."Hang on to your Life life lifelife"...Aaaaaaacid!) That was a real mind opener! But so is this song, this album....it IS 'Our Song"!!!! :)
