I read somewhere that jon Anderson wrote that song for his wife, one off my friends was at a live show of jon Anderson as a solo artist, he came to the show without a band, only him and an acoustic guitar...and in the first row was his wife...he (jon Anderson) introduced her to the crowd, yes, I believe he wrote the song for his wife, beautiful song

Fantastic song and video...  Yes is an amazing band..

I dedicate this song to my wife Patricia. I often sing to her this song ( we're 15 years together) " if only you knew", to me, means that sometimes I have no words to express myself properly, because I'm not a poet, an artist or a musician, ( YES are plenty so ) so this song, his atmosphere, words and feeling get to the point ( well, now she know ! )

i think Jon meant to leave it up to our interpretations and our imaginations, as i've herd him say it mean's what you want it to mean.
