Yes - I'm Running Lyrics
Jacaranda
Help me out tomorrow
Jacaranda
Don't want to be alone
Keep falling over
Give and take
I shouldn't be afraid
So you give me this big story
It wakes me every day
The challenge is to chase the sounds
Just to break away
And I'm running
Running
Yes I'm running
Just can't be found
Waste another day
Blasting all their lives away
I've heard the thunder
Underground
Tunneling away
At the very soul of man
And I'm running
Yes I'm running
I'm running
Through a new world
There is the heart of millions
Seen as a godsend to us
There stands our future
There can be no denying
Simple as A B C D
There stands our children's lives
All in the sharp step
As one together
All in all we race
As one
This time
A simple peace
Just can't be found
Waste another day
Blasting all their lives away
I've heard the thunder
Underground
Tunneling away
At the very soul of man
At the very soul of man
And I'm running
Running
I'm running
See through science
Part of a back door
A door made up of doors
To an endless time
To a new world
Run
There in the heart of millions
Seen as a godsend to us
There stands our future
There can be no denying
Simple as A B C D
There stands our children's lives
All in the sharp step
As one together
All in all we race
As one
This time
Hear this voice
Now and forever
This time, brothers in time
Is it hard to take
Take this coice
Is it hard to find
Now and forever
This fire brothers of fire
Hard to find
As it kicks so hard
Hard to find
As it kicks on time
As it kicks on time
There in the heart of millions
Seen as a godsend to us
There stands our future
There can be no denying
Simple as A B C D
As it kicks so
As it kick so
As it kick so
There in the heart of millions
Seen as a godsend to us
All in a sharp step
As one together
All in all we race
as one
this time

Good Xylophone
Ironically this is better than 90125 but like all big commercial successful records..the following get overlooked, then years later BOOM..People suddenly see what it was....I hate modern studio sound..if this had that un...processed raw 73” SOUND THUS would have been way up there.l...Gnz..p.s modern studios sound dead to me...
3:45 "Peter Jones is unimpressed, but Debra Meaden finds it difficult to 'run' from this deal."
One of the all-time classics of the 80's This album is criminally underrated....
"jacamanda" refers to a five piece band (get it?).
MERCI !.
What a masterpiece! I can’t believe people wrote songs like these! My first Yes album, my first album (I was 4). 32 years ago... still magical!
I just discovered this music today, with this video. WOW.
Damn this sucks
Tequila!
that outro never grows old :-)
Big Generator is the best Yes Album. Fight me.
it's a fine (and original) choice, and it's nice that you appreciate it. all yes is great, or at least good.
@plasticweapon I can fight . . . and I do MMA . ..and this album is GREAT!
Well..slap my ass & call me Judy.
You might be right.
I like Big Generator a lot more than Talk but I prefer 90125 over both.
2:48 When I was in 4th grade, I thought this sounded just like my friend Chris W. saying, "Hey, Matt!!"
For those of us who can get past the 70's, this is Yes at it's finest. A beautifully progressive song that hints at its ancestry without retread.
perfectly stated.
@plasticweapon Yep. This IS a Yes song.
I actually first got into Yes in the 80's so I never had a problem with 90125 or Big Generator. Maybe I'm slightly too young to be snobbish about it like the fans from the 70's but for me they were just doing something different. They weren't betraying their roots to me so much as keeping up with the times but in a way that still made sense to them as the band called Yes.
The follow up to the resurgent 90210. Big Generator didn't have as much buzz as it's predecessor, but also that has something to do with where I was in my life. Big Generator is full of gems, like this song. A bright spot in the bleakness of the late 1980s.
Yes prog rock amo prog

My favourite Yes song
Musicao
This band was a hundred years ahead of its' own time. Genius Art Music.
I wish the official lyrics were published with each song. This is legendary art.
Definitely!
No, they were of their time, when great music was valued. Music today, I don't consider that being progress.
Inventive and powerful song. I'll never understand the hate for this album. Pretty sure this was the first time someone tuned a bass and guitar down to a low A.
People had trouble with Relayer which is a masterpiece, unquestionably.
The funny part is that it's often even the fans who favor their earlier stuff, who will say that they just didn't "get" that album. It's like; "Are you sure you're really into prog there, buddy?" Oh, the irony! 😂
@Cr8Tron I'm not a big fan of Relayer. I think Sound Chaser is great and the extended Soon edit, but Gates of Delerium gets too carried away and forgets the song in parts. To be Over sounds beautiful, but the melody itself is unremarkable.
@Bob Wolenski Go figure... I recently had a friend tell me that everything on Relayer was fine except for Sound Chaser, because of too many parts that he finds "annoying". Never would have guessed!! This guy wears Yes T-shirts like every day, and we used to run a late-night radio program back in the day, playing exclusively prog. And then I've also heard others say they don't like To Be Over, because it's too "boring". Personally, I've never dismissed *any* of their tunes, until you get to something like "Owner of a Lonely Heart". I don't like cheesy pop, and that's about the only thing I'm ever hypercritical about in general with any music. Does that make me a prog-snob, or someone who's relatively more open-minded?
As far as any "musical meanderings" in The Gates of Delirium, keep in mind that this is what extreme prog-rock is all about, lol. You don't have to listen to it obviously...but then at least be honest with yourself, that perhaps prog just isn't your thing. Personally, I wasn't ever too hypercritical about that sort of thing, when I was first being exposed to all these early prog bands as a teenager. I was always initially more interested in whatever had the most stimulating material, while having a more-secondary focus on the way the content was all organized.
Either way, I think people are just being thick as a brick when dismissing anything from Relayer. It's always either someone splitting hairs and nitpicking over the fine details, rather than seeing the big picture...or its someone zooming way too far out, and losing sight of too many of the beautiful trees, while trying to see the entire forest.
My two cents: Try some acid with it next time, and get back to me. Not sure what to say if you're still reaching for the Big Generator. 🤷♂️
@Cr8Tron Well, your post brings up a lot of interesting points. I've never done drugs in my life and have no desire to start. If you need to take drugs to get into a song, what does that say about the song? I am going to go re-listen to Gates, though. As far as being a fan of prog-rock, it doesn't mean you have to abandon having a discerning ear. I like pop rock, but not all of it. That goes for all types of music, there are good and bad songs in all genres.
Damn, but that opening bass riff sounds like Mike Watt!
It actually sounds like the best bass player ever.....Chris Squire. :)
One bad ass song. Fantastic vocals. Some of the very best vocals of yes.
No one is greater than Squire
Yes !!!
Still, sooooo great!!!!!!!.........!
this is my favorite song about moving your legs very quickly while pumping your arms.
Saw that tour.
Saw this tour as well, sir. Omaha, NE . . . . . . . Good times!!!!!!!
Amazing to think BG will be 30 years old this year. Great album.
Yes, the best!
I LOVE THIS ABLUM. MY VERY FIRST YES ABLUM, A TAPE ACTUALLY FOR CHRISTMAS gift from my sister. I love the harmonic convergence in these tunes. Very needed by those serviving the 80's.
This was an underrated album. Sone really good songs are on this one. I remember buying this at the record shop-the vinyl album cover was teal and the cd/cassette covers were yellow. Great musical memories!
Harmonic convergence? Is that a pun and was it intentional? ;)
Not my first introduction to this great band but I bought it when it first came out also. Not sure if I had it on cd or cassette though. I think cassette at least at first. I have a soft spot for this album. It was the first time I saw them on tour.
this song sounds very much like progressive rock. definitely a throwback feel to it considering it was recorded around 1987
It sounds like progressive rock becuase it is progressive rock.
The riff for this was written during the same time as the material that appeared on Drama..
in my humble opinion still three suite music can t we all just say YES !
im going through the entire discography and this song kicks so much butt! idk what it is about it but its just fun
Yeah, some of this sounds like Yes trying to play "Tequila". ---- low point in Yes career....
There's some similarity I agree but still different. Low point though? I think not. That would be either Union or Open Your Eyes or even more recently with how the official band is continuing now.
Union has some good songs too. I think it's the way that was put together that people don't like. OYE doesn't sound like Yes but rather a Circa album. Union at least has a mostly Yes sound even if it was a hodge podge.
I like most of the ABWH tunes, miracle of life, the more you live, shock to the system, I would have waited forever, take the water to the mountain, lift me up and silent talking.
this is the ONLY song I like w/ Rabin....almost ran into him (or the door anyway) at Dave Friedman's yesterday hahaha! not a Rabin fan, but dig this tune. Trevor Horn is THE BEST.
Chris Squire wrote a good portion of this back in 1980. There's a demo version on here with Howe and White from that period.
Wytchfinde where can I find it?
