Yes - And You And I Lyrics

[I Cord Of Life]

A man conceived a moment's answers to the dream
Staying the flowers daily, sensing all the themes
As a foundation left to create the spiral aim
A movement regained and regarded both the same
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you

Changed only for a sight the sound, the space agreed
Between the picture of time behind the face of need
Coming quickly to terms of all expression laid
Emotions revealed as the ocean maid
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you

Coins and crosses
(Turn round tailor, assaulting)
Never know their fruitless worth
(all the mornings of the interest shown,
presenting one another to the cord)
Cords are broken
(All left dying, rediscovered
Of the door that turned round)
Locked inside the mother Earth
(To close the cover, all the
interest shown)
They won't hide, hold, they won't tell you
(To turn one another, to the
sign at the time float your climb)
Watching the world, watching all of the world
Watching us go by

And you and I climb over the sea to the valley
And you and I reached out for reasons to call

[II Eclipse]

Coming quickly to terms of all expression laid
Emotions revealed as the ocean maid
As a movement regained and regarded both the same
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you

[III The Preacher, The Teacher]

Sad preacher nailed upon the coloured door of time
Insane teacher be there reminded of the rhyme
There'll be no mutant enemy we shall certify
Political ends as sad remains will die
Reach out as forward tastes begin to enter you
Oooh, ooh

I listened hard but could not see
Life tempo change out and inside me
The preacher trained in all to lose his name
The teacher travels, asking to be shown the same
In the end we'll agree, we'll accept, we'll immortalize
That the truth of the man maturing in his eyes
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you

Coming quickly to terms of all expression laid
As a moment regained and regarded both the same
Emotion revealed as the ocean maid
A clearer future, morning, evening, nights with you

[IV Apocalypse]

And you and I climb, crossing the shapes of the morning
And you and I reach over the sun for the river
And you and I climb, clearer towards the movement
And you and I called over valleys of endless seas

    Oh the memories. Love it

  2. M.... C....

Não sinto a menor vergonha em afirmar que sou um saudosista! Mas considero as décadas de 60/70 as mais criativas do rock'n Roll! Esse disco é simplesmente maravilhoso!

Yes,Emerson Lake and Palmer and Genesis are the kings of music

Heard this before Close to the Edge was released. We saw them at Curtis Hixon Hall 1971 where they did most of their Yes and Fragile albums. Pretty sure this was introduced that night as 'from our next album,,,'. They were the only band that night and the only one needed. Still looking forward to the flashbacks.

Saw Yes 'In The Round' at the Portland Coliseum around 1977 (those days kind of blurry, lol). Bought a T-shirt, wore that sucker out! Been to a great many concerts back in the day, but never saw so many guitars on stage! It was soooo cool!! We had no idea how good we had it. (sigh)

The Close to the Edge tour was my first yes concert. Was seated right behind the mixing console. Needless to say, the sound was excellent. LOUD, but crystal clear. That was at the Scope Arena in Norfolk Virginia in November 9, 1972. Set a standard few have lived up to. Almost 50 years listening to Yes, life is good.

  21. M.... F....

There are two Isaac Asimov Easter eggs in this great album: "Spiral aim" and "Close to the Edge."

Transcendent. My friends as Menard James Keenan and Tool are the darkness. Thus Jon Anderson and YES are the light! And in truth, there cannot be one without the other

Talk about Incredible talents RICK WAKEMAN of YES!

  45. A.... B....

Reminds me to remember the beautiful things

  46. M.... R....

Truly otherworldly music. It sounded like nothing else at the time and since then, everyone has tried to imitate parts of this. I first heard this on one of those late night "experimental music" programs from a nearby low-watt college radio station. I used to go to sleep with a little transistor radio under my pillow--anyone else do that?--and drift off, listening to some pretty strange stuff. But when this track played, I thought I was still asleep and dreaming. Dead of winter, my eyes half open, staring through a frosted window at distant stars glittering above snow-covered mountains, and this song is playing. What would YOU think? I thought I had been transported to some distant planet.

I was sixteen years old. I was having a LOT of trouble figuring out who I was. This song helped immeasurably. God bless those five young men for creating something so beautiful, so wonderfully strange and precious that it gave me for the first time a sense of peace and being part of something much greater than myself.

  47. D.... H....

    Yes, Absolutely.

  67. R.... H....

I turned On, & 13 when this came out

  68. G.... L....

    Great song..... Great composition

  69. G.... L....

This song never ages, Squires bass just does it own thing and for some obscure reason its so wrong its right, Wakeman show boats as only he can, Bruford finds the gaps, Howe and Anderson calm the whole thing down when all seems out of control, and when the five of them are fighting for the lead, they all seem to finish first.

What a band, what a song, what an album, the best vinyl I have ever owned, pomp rock personified.

  70. K.... M....

This song has been playing in my weird brain all day. So I returned.

It is October 1972, my 20th birthday having just passed in September. I have finished installing a superb car stereo system in my 1968 VW Bug. It consisted of a four speaker surround sound connection to a separate base-preamp, through an AM-FM-Stereo radio from JVC when it was Japan's Best, but my finest affordable source for the music was an Eight-Track Player that I put into it as the front end music playback feature, because I just bought my first ever 8-track; Close to the Edge!

This YES Album was released 9 days before my birthday, in September, and I vowed to have my first listening experience in the best manner available to me at the time. My '68 VW Bug was ear heaven. Thank you, YES, and Close to the Edge! Eventually I upgraded to cassettes when they became affordable and after years of refusal, I did eventually install a CD Player... but my favorite method to listen to music in my 1968 VW Bug was recording my own cassette tapes from my vinyl playing turntable, a Systemdek IIX that I bought in 1984. Sadly, my great and amazing mobile stereo died in a collision when a City Utility Truck crashed into my beautiful custom automobile. I still have my turntable and it still shakes the city where I live.

Fueled by Caffeine, Powered by Music; every race I've done, and so many records, both musical and track-road races, where I have left four million of my footsteps in the Sun. Thank you, YES and all the rest.
