I actually thought for years the chorus was "as a first song, you suck" (as a sardonic reference to being the first track off the EP it's from) and I thought that was rather clever. But the actual lyrics wasn't that so I figured I'm just dumb.

Taeil0151 the real lyrics are "as a fuck son you sucked" but the radio edit was "as a person you sucked" so they are always a bit hard to hear :)

You are clearly a Jack White fan, so I would be careful judging an artist about changing their sound. Ive been listening to TWS and Jack as long as I can remember and his deterioration into his current sound is sad. Truly.

Their more recent stuff is still really good music, but I have to agree that I'm partial to their garage punk stuff.

i prefer their old stuff as well, it's really truly awesome, but i also totally understand why they wanna try different things. i think 'it's blitz' is great, although i must admit there's a little too many quiet songs. dull life is absolutely brilliant though.

They evolved? Their new album is good, it's just different. It would have been pretty lame if they just kept the same sound for all of their albums.
