I'm not even a pirate metal guy, far from it if i'm honest but this isn't half bad - big respect on the 360 thing too, I liked that a lot.

Probably cause this got nothing to do with metal. It's a Naval folk band.

Being signed to Napalm records kinda says otherwise, but I can see how they'd be in their own bracket, no heavyness besides that one guys vocals.

I know the band, for years (saw them on one of the German medevieal events), so them signing up with Napalm was also a surprise to me. I know, that they were sitting on two albums content and were looking for a good label to sign up with, but metal label was quite strange (given that the band doesn't even play at metal fests).

Still German Metal scene is quite diverse, and metal festivals are quite inclusive and feature interesting bands, that don't have much to do with metal scene, but still loved by the audience. F.e. Corvus Corax/Cantus Buranus frequently play at Sommer Breeze/Wacken. Wardruna had an amazing performance on Summer breeze last year, while Heilung is announced for the next year. Another Pirate Themed band - Mr. Hurley & Die Pulveraffen is also a frequent participant at Wacken/Summer breeze. So i'd say it's just current german trend with labels trying to divercify their portfolio with good, yet undiscovered German/European folk bands.

Well, don't know, what it has to do with Alestorm - typical folk pirate band (with punkish irish influences). Compared to other bands in the genre, of highet quality (partially due to Magda's great vocals).

The women are in the band. They have several female members who play instruments, sing, or both.

Nothing against female members - I just realise my comment sounded very wrong, and I will edit that part: I feel like the voices don't fit the music. It's a taste thing, I don't like female voices when they go all that way to intentionally sound... like a drunk seafarer... the "arrrrrrr" pirate-voice, you know? - I'd rather have them sing with actual singing voice, or not at all.

But they are awsome... Cant imagine YBP without their pirate lasses
