Yazoo - Softly Over Lyrics

It's over, there's nothing more to say
Silent comes the night time, end another summers day
I can just remember, or is this the dream that never goes away.

[Chorus]
Understand me, I'm calling -
Understand me, can you hear me call.

Night time, surely it's a lie,
No-one ever told me, I just let the chance go by
Wishing there was time enough, you tell me there's no time, but I can try.

[Chorus repeat]

Speak now, without the summer light
All the words I should have spoken, when you held me tight
Still I'll keep in calling, till the morning ends another lonely night.

[Chorus repeat]

I'll be waiting for you hoping, that someday you'll hear me calling
But there's never any answer, just the echo of the call

I listened to Upstairs at Eric's every single day in college. However, only now, today, nearly 30 years later, I discover they made a second album! This is great. I'm so happy, 30 years melt away, a time capsule to pull me back to when I was free and fun and adventerous and fearless. I'm so glad I never knew! I beedvut more niw than I would have then. I'm old and fat and alone. Anyways, I thought their name was Yaz! I always ignored stuff about Yazoo. LOL. All for the best though. I'm only one song in and it is really good..

We used this Yazoo album for testing audio systems, back '80s in Poland. To me this the best one Vince has made, way better than Upstairs at Eric's.

Interesting the 'understand me' lyric...did Martin Gore get the idea from his old Depeche Mode band mate when he wrote 'Shake The Disease' ?
