Yardbirds, The - Goodnight Sweet Josephine Lyrics

Goodnight sweet Josephine,
She's the queen of Clapham.
Every night,
She goes out with men to trap 'em,
In her net,
Of ecstacy.
Goodnight sweet Josephine,
There's no-one else quite like you.
If Josephine could,
She'd give you her blood.
I know that she would,
Love to.

Goodnight sweet Josephine,
Goodnight sweet Josephine,
Goodnight sweet Josephine,
We love you.

Goodnight sweet Josephine,
We love you to distraction.
Whatever she does,
The police will take no action.
They're all in love,
With Josephine.
It's right that Josephine,
Should do just as she pleases.
And whether or not,
You like what she's got,
She's guaranteed not,
To fail you.

Goodnight sweet Josephine,
Goodnight sweet Josephine,
Goodnight sweet Josephine,
We love you.

Goodnight sweet Josephine,
Goodnight sweet Josephine,
Goodnight sweet Josephine,
We love you.

Goodnight sweet Josephine,
Goodnight sweet Josephine,
...[to fade]

  1. G.... M....

Page with relf and the box of frogs flying in a Zeppelin.

  2. A.... P....

What a lot of ignorant commentary...

  3. M.... M....

Braaavoooo!!!!! Gracias por este Excelente Tema 😎 Woooooww!!!! Good Music😘

  4. B.... M....

    the last single

  5. C.... R....

I'm impressed that Jim McCarty can sing backup and still drum so busily.

  6. A.... L....

Having listened to that reminds of why I never liked that group.

  7. M.... G....

What a bunch of clueless chowderheads you lot are. This isn't a original song, it was their current single so they had to play it. Check out Dazed and Confused from the same performance or Happenings Ten Years Time Ago, that's the real band. They were so talented, if you listen to the Glimpses collection you will hear the genius of the un-celebrated members. Zep's first album is all Yardbirds material. Listen first before you make uninformed comments.

  8. d.... ....

    Better than the studio version.

  9. D.... G....

    Chris Dreja wear leggings

  10. K.... ....

Jimmy Page looking cool as fuck

    K.... ....

@*****  I've got the Rubble Collection. It's stuff like Tomorrow ( Steve Howe '67), The Pretty Things, all that.

    K.... ....

@*****  Is it CD? Twenty discs, all miniature versions of the old  LPs. I've got a Rubble vinyl album of 1980s acts that's independant of the box set. I want the Pebbles garage collection. Old memories.

    K.... ....

@*****  The vinyl Rubble I have is somehow called Rubble 9, which as we both know is wrong, as the real vol 9 will be a sixties thing, part of the original series. Google From the House of Lords. Doctor from Doctor and the Medics is on it, and there's a brilliant version of Father's Name Is Dad. YouTube Mad Elaine, hopefully the song is still there.
There was another series called Nuggets, but they were less obscure acts.
I became obsessed with 60s psychedelia around '86, and it all took off from there. Sadly, music is diabolical now.

  11. C.... K....

how do you play this song on guitar!!!

  12. p.... ....

Of course Pete Townshend is a musical genius. And so was John Lennon and so's Jeff Beck. But I'm not a robot, so I don't care what they happen to think of the Yardbirds or anything else. For example, Lennon hated McCartney's albums and loved Yoko's, so he wasn't the best judge of talent.

  13. b.... ....

I'm sorry, but it is true. Even... I think it was Jeff Beck in an interview wrote that while there were individual amazing members (not just the golden trio - Keith included for sure), they lacked the ability to make good songs. When those three left, they flourished. Let's face it, the rest of them were talented, but they weren't anything amazing; it's just a shame Keith had to die so prematurely. I believe he would have gone far. Townshend's scum on the porn, but he's a musical genius. Face it

  14. p.... ....

Thanks for the summary of Lennon and Townshend's opinions, but I prefer to think for myself. After all, Lennon thought Yoko was a genius and Townshend thought it was a good idea to do research on kiddie porn by downloading kiddie porn.

  15. m.... ....

I'm sorry, but The Yardbirds were just not that great. The only reason for their survival is that the band contained 3 members who wrote the book on British rock guitar playing. Although John Lennon admired Jeff beck, he thought that the rest of the band were 'pox'. Pete Townshend stated that the band was 'a shambles' despite being a huge Eric Clapton fan. Pete also referred to the the other band members as being 'hairy assholes'. So I reckon that Pete and John would have known.

  16. m.... ....

Hahaha. I love the Seinfeld puffy shirt reference. Hilarious hahaha!!!!

  17. D.... B....

No worries. Funny thing is he looks a lot like Mike D'abo.

  18. S.... W....

@dbailey62.Thanks mate.I should have looked closer the first time.

  19. D.... B....

Nobody. That is the host at his d.j. station.

  20. S.... W....

Please enlighten me-someone.Who was on keyboards?

  21. U.... T....

@DonARen1950 It isn't a terrible song. It's a lethargic performance of a perfectly good song. Go listen to the BBC Sessions one.

  22. L.... U....

@HarvestMan Yes please! Do you have the whole performance?

  23. P.... N....

I can hear the Move in this

  24. T.... ....

keith relf is awesome.. I like his hand movements in this performance, they're hilarious! :>

  25. v.... ....

OMG, it's Page with the Seinfeld puffy shirt! :)

  26. N.... 1....

    i like the solo

  27. P.... ....

@CatapultYourMom Look, if you are tone deaf, -and this is not intended as an insult, rather the only logical explanation for someone being unable to hear the depth of Led Zeppelin material- there is no reason to take your crippled appreciation of music out on true artists. I'm not sure of the psychology behind it, but there may be treatment for tone-deafness, maybe you should look into it.

  28. o.... ....

Sounds like something you'd hear on the Simpsons...Page was probably thinking...."Holy crap, I need to find 3 other blokes...fast!"

  29. J.... G....

    @journeyquest11 I think that's why Clapton left

  30. J.... G....

@CatapultYourMom up yours he is one of the greatest guitar players ever

  31. T.... C....

    2:40 Rape face

  32. S.... S....

    @CatapultYourMom
    shut up. you're an idiot.
normally, i don't flat out insult people because of their opinions, but you're a god damn fool.

  33. d.... ....

I don't think it's a terrible song. It has a catchy melody--very singable. And it's an entertaining performance, and all the guys have great clothes and hair and wildly painted guitars and everything. Looks like a good show.

  34. B.... ....

Yep, it's a terrible song. They had a producer who wanted to turn them into a singles band and gave them dreadful material. This is one of those songs. The deal was- they got to do what they wanted on their LPs. Llisten to Little Games? or Live Yardbirds? They are great. Keith is not good on this song, in fact he's not particularly good on any of the songs from this show. However, he was usually a great singer and they were a great band. Why do you think Clapton Beck & Page wanted to join them?

  35. s.... ....

all the comments are very tough on them.Remember that as said Chris Dreja, their last line up when they toured the states in 196è, was their best; They where giving memorable gigs.Just imagine if they have had the same amplification and big watts like Led zeppelin

  36. i.... ....

    @HarvestmanMan do it!

  37. M.... H....

the whole band was mediocre. Even Page could not save the travesties of what they called music in 1967.

  38. M.... H....

thanks for the response and you are dead-on about how lackluster the band was overall. They had a few great moments, but that was only because there was one of 3 stellar guitarists in the band at any given time.Without Clapton, Beck, or Page, the Yardbirds probably would have died around 1965, IF they lasted THAT long. We won't even get into the Keith Relf singles, I am nauseous enough already! LOL!

  39. s.... h....

    great song

  40. j.... ....

After seeing all of Led Zeppelin, Page really looks and sounds out of place in this band. Sounds like a garage band compared to Zeppelin.

  41. h.... ....

    That was actually pretty mediocre

  42. r.... ....

Awsome vid! Jimmy Page, man.Great as usual

  43. p.... ....

The camera is having a love affair with Chris Dreja ! Superb clip , and , yeah , it IS great to hear this done live. I know this song is'nt a favorite with a lot of people , but , it sounds great , here! I once told Dreja it sounds like something a couple of drunks would sing , staggering home.

  44. M.... H....

God that last iteration just sucked. Relf could not sing his way out of a paper bag nor could he write

  45. i.... ....

Nice to see something of that era that wasnt Lip Sync! :-)

  46. B.... A....

mine too even though its supposed to be FIVE live yardbirds...

  47. B.... A....

i would love to hear it!

  48. P.... H....

All right. I will have it up in a short while then.

  49. P.... H....

"Every night she goes out with men to trap 'em...iiiiiiiiiinnnn heeeeeeeerrr net...of ecstasy." This is a very funny song! I can upload the original BBC recording if anyone wants it.

  50. S.... ....

This song is great, and Page plays great on it.

  51. M.... ....

performance is not as inspired as the recording, but Page is insane. love the lead.. and the bassist's pants are very cool. you can tell they are at the end of their career, at least watching Relf.

  52. M.... ....

    that's a very good question

  53. d.... s....

    thanks;)...that's what i was thinking

  54. M.... S....

    Jim McCarty..great during the intro..

  55. d.... s....

    who's that drumming?

  56. J.... S....

I love the way Jimmy moves while he plays!! :D...orgasmic, lmao well not that far
