Yankovic, Weird Al - Frank's 2000" TV Lyrics

Risin' above the city, blocking out the noonday sun
It dwarfs the mighty redwoods and it towers over everyone
I still remember when that delivery truck came down our block
What a lucky guy, I hear he got the last one in stock
And the neighbors are just green
They say, "That's the biggest screen we've ever seen!"

It's Frank's 2000" TV (Frank's 2000" TV)
Everbody come and see(Frank's 2000" TV)
Frank's 2000" TV (Frank's 2000" TV)

That's Frank's remote control, you can look, but don't touch it, please
'Cause Frank's the one in charge and he decides what everybody sees
The picture's crystal clear and everything is magnified
Robert DeNiro's mole has got to be ten feet wide
Everybody in the town
Can hear those 90,000 watts of Dolby sound
And I'm mighty proud to say
Now I can watch "The Simpsons" from thirty blocks away

On Frank's 2000" TV (Frank's 2000" TV)
Everybody come and see (Frank's 2000" TV)
Frank's 2000" TV (Frank's 2000" TV)
Everybody come and see (Frank's 2000" TV)

I'm gonna get one of my own real soon
It's like having a drive-in movie in your own living room
Whoa, hey now... hey now na na na now
Hey now... hey now na na now

Frank's 2000" TV (Frank's 2000" TV)
Everybody come and see (Frank's 2000" TV)
Frank's 2000" TV (Frank's 2000" TV)
Got a two year warranty on parts and labor
Frank's 2000" TV (Frank's 2000" TV)

Yankovic, Weird Al Frank's 2000" TV Comments
  1. S.... S....

Special appreciation goes to how Al got those harmonies, one of R.E.M.'s best trademarks, down pat. Bravo.

  2. K.... P....

Biggest we've ever had is 60"

  3. J.... C....

Ok, now I need to follow this up with Living In The Fridge 😂

    J.... C....

I will join you in that!

  4. y.... ....

Waiting for Michael Stipe to complete the circle and cover this.

  5. J.... P....

I thought this song was an elementary school hallucination but damn

  6. S.... A....

I have to give my uncle a heartfelt thanks for playing Weird Al almost religiously after he came home from work when I was a kid. This was always one of my favorite songs of Al's.

  7. -.... B....

A while ago, I dreamed that a house at the end of our street looked like a 50 foot iPhone.

    -.... B....

Why can't I ever have dreams like that?

    -.... B....

@The Phantom of the Paradise Because you're not me.

    -.... B....

    I prefer Android

  8. -.... B....

Since TV screens keep getting bigger and bigger, one day this might become reality. Who knows.

I remember my grandparents had a portable TV where the screen was about the size of (if not smaller than) your fist.

  9. D.... O....

    Al's 2000inch chode!

  10. W.... C....

"Everybody in the town can hear those 90,000 watts of Dolby™ Sound."

  11. r.... ....

This was the only good song on the entire album. The rest were filler.

  12. r.... e....

I Was Just Going To Listen To Some Music And This Popped Up In The Search Bar.

  13. A.... N....

A true early REM style parody would only be half as long. Otherwise, this is great

  14. K.... S....

it's scary how similar weird al and mike mills' voices are

  15. D.... R....

Every time I walk past the electronics dept at work and see a bigger and bigger flat screen TV... This song comes to mind

  16. S.... M....

Hisense just came out with a 100" TV selling for $10,000 (tax and shipping not included) So Frank must have spent at least a couple million for his 2,000" TV

  17. S.... S....

I remember discovering this song in my kitchen in the 90s. I played it on repeat like 300 times on my CD player at the time cause it is so catchy. What a great track!

  18. S.... ....

When I first heard this song as a kid I thought the brand was "Frank's"

  19. D.... ....

I used to listen to this over and over the years the album came out while having a beer. Good times.

  20. T.... E....

2000 inch crt screen? how can that fit in my house?

    T.... E....

on the plus side, your house might fit inside IT.

  21. T.... ....

Now I can watch The Simpsons from 30 blocks away!

    T.... ....

The best parts of the song:

Now I can watch "The Simpsons" from 30 blocks away
Robert DeNiro's mole has got to be ten feet wide
It's like having a drive-in movie in your own living room

    T.... ....

I wouldn't even want to watch that shit, not even when Al appeared on it.

    T.... ....

Yes I listened to the song to

    T.... ....

@sha11235 The Simpsons is rightfully considered one of the greatest television shows of all time, if you don't like it that's your prerogative, but you know when you say that it sounds to me like you've never actually seen it.

  22. t.... ....

I always thought this might be a style parody of REM.

  23. A.... F....

    THIS SONG PRETTY AWESOME !!!

  24. o.... ....

Kinda scary how old this song is but also how well it has held up too

    o.... ....

I think I was five when it came out, are you saying that I'm old?

  25. o.... ....

Nobody ever talks about the 90000 Watts of Dolby Sound

    o.... ....

opl500 The whole region could hear that

    o.... ....

That sound effect though . . . Fucking magical

    o.... ....

@Diesel Marcus the THX sound. nuff said.

    o.... ....

    90 kilowatts

  26. b.... ....

now i can watch the simpsons from 30 blocks away!

  27. I.... R....

Just in case anyone wants to know, that's 166.6 feet of screen

  28. I.... R....

    Sounds like REM

  29. S.... O....

    thanks sonicmario64

  30. A.... O....

Bought a 65 inch smart TV last week. This song was the first video I played on the YouTube app.

  31. K.... F....

this 2000 inch TV would be like an imax movie screen size or so

  32. s.... ....

I get home from work at 330 this morning and try to go bed and this song gets stuck in my head. Weird thing is (no pun intended) I haven't listen to this album in years! Al is truly timeless

    s.... ....

snailindustries I’ve had this song off and on stuck in my head since the album came out. Lol
Hadn’t heard it for oh... about 25 yrs... yikes I’m getting old.

    s.... ....

Just walked out of a bar and felt a need to hear this song. It's been two years at least.

  33. W.... ....

Just got a 1440P 32" PC monitor so had to play this again ;)

    W.... ....

Last night I opened the box of my new TV. Somehow I had managed to remember nearly all the lyrics and sang it while assembling the stand. Family looked at me like I was crazy... it was a good feeling.

  34. E.... C....

OMG, Thank you so much for uploading... I'm literally crying right now... Weird Al was a massive part of my childhood - I loved this entire album, used to listen to it while I went to sleep at night, it got me through so many hard times.

Thank you so much, OP. You're the real MVP.

  35. k.... ....

Part two of this song: Frank's $2000 Electricity Bill.

    k.... ....

    More like $2,000,000 Electricity bill

    k.... ....

    @Sabrina Miller
It's Franks two million dollar bill (Franks $2,000,000 bill)
So much money has been spilled on (Franks $2,000,000 bill)
Franks two million dollar bill (Franks $2,000,000 bill)

  36. S.... H....

I've noticed the cover of Alapalooza is the Jurassic Park logo redone with Weird Al Yankovic's head. REALLY FUNNY.

    S.... H....

cause the signature track on the album is literally "Jurassic Park". lol

  37. I.... D....

    Every time there's a lightning storm you're F'd...

  38. X.... H....

Of course in 1993 Frank would've had a cube style TV. Imagine the pain in the ass it would've been to throw it out and replace it with a flatscreen by 2010 or so, lol.

  39. G.... Z....

The one drawback of the metric system is that Frank's 5000cm TV just doesn't have the same ring to it.

    G.... Z....

They could use the term "Clicks" it is often used in countries using the metric system to mean miles

    G.... Z....

    NTSC? PAL?

    G.... Z....

    I'm not your NTSC, PAL.
    I'm not your PAL, buddy...

    G.... Z....

Fox D WE'RE NOT YOUR BUDDY GUY! XD

    G.... Z....

eg. "I would walk 500 clicks and I would walk 500 more" could also be used without needing to change any part of the music

  40. m.... ....

    Reddit sent me.

  41. m.... ....

This is my favourite REM song

    m.... ....

Just like "My Own Eyes" is my favorite Foo Fighters song.

    m.... ....

Dare to be stupid is my favourite Devo song

    m.... ....

Never heard of that foo fighters song. Must have come out around the time First World Problems dropped. What a great Pixies song

    m.... ....

Just like "Mr. Popeil" is my favorite B-52s song, even if it literally took me three decades to figure it out.... (yikes!)

  42. S.... T....

This is a style parody of R.E.M. right?

    S.... T....

    Sydney Timmermans
To me it sounds like almost like Barenaked ladies

    S.... T....

The reason it doesn't come across so clearly is that R.E.M. has such distinctive voices. But if you imagine this being sung with Michael Stipe's voice and Mike Mills backing, it is actually a spot on representation of the early 90s R.E.M. sound.

    S.... T....

+Kevin Irmiter Not early 90s no, more like mid 80s.

    S.... T....

    sounds like a Reckoning outtake

    S.... T....

It's an original song, but I think the style is a parody of 90s alternative rock.

  43. J.... B....

I know this song is mostly about a guy named frank who bought himself a new TV set that's as big as a Drive In Movie Theater. But, the song's music style, direction, and tone sounds more like tropical music. It sounds like the type of music you play when you're at the beach or in Florida.

    J.... B....

+Jonny Boy Without lyrics, I would really feel like its an instrumental from REM or the B-52's.

    J.... B....

It's definitely meant to be an REM style-parody

  44. h.... h....

    this song is awesome!

  45. A.... R....

For comparison a football field is 1,920 inches wide.

    A.... R....

Note: The main video board at AT&T stadium is roughly around the same size that a 2000 inch tv would be.

    A.... R....

    Awesome @mikemil828

    A.... R....

    go Cowboys!! ; )

    A.... R....

    Jerry's Two Thousand Inch TV

    A.... R....

You need to be specific. Which football? American football? Canadian football? Association football? Australian Rules Football? Rugby Football?

  46. o.... ....

2000 inches and still nothing worth watching

    o.... ....

+TheAerovons 2000 inches, nothing but cats.

    o.... ....

    +TheAerovons The Kid reference?

    o.... ....

That's why we have gaming consoles

    o.... ....

oceantracks I hooked up 80 channels and each one stunk. I can't watch this.

  47. t.... ....

    The sound can't be legal.

  48. h.... ....

This song makes me think of my grandpa cause his name was frank

    h.... ....

hssenior But did he have a 2000" TV? Could you watch The Simpsons from 30 blocks away?

  49. a.... s....

Actually mathematically speaking it is possible.  The 2000 refers to the diagonal length of the screen and using trigonometry you can find that the other 2 sides are 896.155 inches and 1787.99 inches.  Just sayin

    a.... s....

+adam smelden On behalf of people who suck at math, your comment might as well be in Aramaic.

    a.... s....

oh but your measurements are wrong, your implying that the tv would be in 16:9 aspect ratio, but at the time of this song all tvs and broadcasts were in 4:3 aspect ratio.

    a.... s....

    r/iamverysmart

    a.... s....

    @Cody Downs How?

  50. B.... C....

Mathematically speaking it's impossible for this tv to exist because if it was 2000 in. it would be 166.6 infinite ft. therefore making its size infinite and making it impossible to exist.

    B.... C....

@Lord Master more then likely it would probably be like 1999.whatever inches and they'd called it 2000. like all the "24in" monitors we have at work. lol

    B.... C....

@RaptorNX01 a fine example of a limit, 4 years late lol.

    B.... C....

@Adam Hovey Infinity isn't infinite in all cases.
    1+1+1 ...= Infinity. we'll call it "InfA"
    1+½+¼...= Infinity. "InfB"

InfB has a limit of 2. it will always approach but never reach 2. thus even though both are infinite InfA>infB.

This is the case that applies to the OP. just because a point 6 repeats forever doesn't mean the tv is of infinite size. There is a mathematical limit, or as you point it "Infinity isn't infinite"

    B.... C....

@Adam Hovey Did you just say that the math wasn't wrong and then go on to say that the math was not right...?

    B.... C....

@VervTV A true 'bruh' moment hahahaha

  51. Y.... ....

Weird Al does REM better than REM.

    Y.... ....

    Don't forget the gin blossoms

  52. R.... ....

The verse really reminds me an REM type song.

    R.... ....

It's original in the style of REM.

    R.... ....

It's meant to sound like sort of LRP and Document i think

    R.... ....

@The Based God Max Nah, it sounds more like something off Murmur or Reckoning to me.

  53. R.... ....

    Oh, for fuck's sake.

  54. W.... ....

    It's been cancelled again, dude.

  55. R.... ....

    Least we still have Futurama.

  56. L.... W....

Man me and my band love covering this song at are gigs get lots of people up and singing it but after the gig I got a people coming up to me saying to me wow is that your song. So me and my band have decided to cover more of his songs if the kids of today don't know Weird Al then we will get them to know him. We currently cover obviously Frank's 2000" TV, Jurassic Park and Living In The Fridge but we plan to do more

    L.... W....

Lampy Wright That sounds like a fking dream! Rock on man!

    L.... W....

That is awesome! More people need to hear Al's deep cuts.

    L.... W....

Jurrasic Park is scary in the dark!

  57. J.... ....

I just read on Wiki Eminem won't allow Weird Al to make the video to couch potato the parody of lose yourself because he's afraid it'll hurt his image. Are you fucking kidding me? Like Eminem has or cares about a squeaky image. Most douche bag move eminem has made to date. When Wierd Al parodies someone, their image is enhanced, not blemished.

  58. S.... G....

i was listening to this wondering how big 2000" actually is. thanks

    S.... G....

    Seth Goldfarb about 166 feet

  59. h.... ....

This song makes me think of my grandpa because his name is frank

  60. W.... ....

Back when you'd WANT to watch the Simpsons from 30 blocks away.

  61. i.... ....

DAMN! that's close to 167 feet high!

  62. I.... B....

Cool. My auntie had gone ahead and assumed that this was your favorite. I'll let her know.

  63. e.... ....

this is not only my favorite weird al song, it's one of my top five favorite songs ever.

  64. A.... T....

In 1993 while most people were laughing at this song, Jerry Jones was like "Challenge Accepted!!!!".

  65. l.... ....

    the nostalgia....

  66. t.... ....

1:57 Al describes the backup vocals on "Watts of Dolby sound" as "inhumanly low"

  67. j.... ....

I don't think it's weird at all really.

  68. W.... I....

Let's hope nobody in the neighborhood takes a pot shot at it... be a hard target to miss...

  69. r.... ....

Interestingly, Charlotte Motor Speedway now really does have a 2584-inch TV. (It's an HDTV, so it's only 80 feet tall, but it's 200 feet long.) Wonder what Al thought when he heard about it...

  70. B.... S....

@minjofu I get that for sure!!

  71. B.... S....

How weird is it that this is my drunk song!?!

  72. M.... ....

This is maybe a weird thing to post in relation to such an upbeat song but.. yesterday was the two year anniversary of my mom passing away.. She and I used to sing this song together all the time.. So listening to it right now makes me feel a little better, and it helps me remember the laughs we had together..

    M.... ....

Both of his parents died hours before he was to perform live. He decided to continue with the concert "since my music had helped many of my fans through tough times, maybe it would work for me as well."

  73. M.... M....

If Frank were a brony, the entire neighborhood would be forced to be bronies too.

  74. M.... ....

    @HugeDickNick Exactly

  75. a.... ....

Saw him in Huntington, NY a couple of months ago; he played this, sounded -perfect-! (As usual..)

  76. r.... ....

ive seen him live before. They actually have a great sound and harmony when they play

  77. t.... ....

you know youve arrived when all related videos are by the same user

  78. f.... ....

I love those over-done tag-team vocal harmonies... Wonderful REM spoof...

  79. T.... ....

    @MrTFG Ahh, good catch!

  80. M.... ....

    @TheDuke1724 It's spelled "jealous" ... just saying

  81. w.... ....

My dad keeps getting a bigger tv to replace his old one, and his name is Frank. Maybe this song is turning into a goal for him, lol.

  82. T.... ....

If anyone were to dislike this video, it means they only have a 1999" TV with 89,000 watts of Dolby sound and are gelous of Frank's 2000" TV with 90,000 watts of Dolby sound.

  83. S.... ....

I hope the entire town shares franks taste in viewing matirel, or their screwed

  84. w.... ....

    @nuclearfuture Jerry's 2000" TV....

  85. T.... G....

@sonicmario64 Come to think of it, it says RIGHT in the song it would be "Like Having a Drive-In Movie in Your Own Living Room." Now I want one. Imagine watching a 3D movie on that sucker!

  86. s.... ....

    lolol
    lolol
    lolol

  87. T.... ....

ever since I seen Weird Al on Al TV on MTV back in the day when I was kid I always loved him.

  88. 3.... ....

@gustibiri24 nvm it was a long time rumor i wish though ;/

  89. T.... ....

@333AndMan ARE YOU SERIOUS?! I MIGHT BUY IT NOW!

  90. 3.... ....

this just in: THIS IS GOIMG TO BE IN ROCK BAND 3!!!!

  91. l.... ....

This sounds like something else... but I can't put my finger on it.

  92. S.... ....

Yes, 2,000 inches would be a huge stretch. That's why Al says these long-drawn-out ideas like being able to "watch "The Simpsons" from thirty blocks away."

A drive-in movie would never match up to that. ;)

Great Al song. I have a theory that Al may be playing it in the set list for the next tour... but that's just sort of a guess.

  93. C.... D....

Come to think of it, I guess it would. ;)
