XTC - Knights In Shining Karma Lyrics

Knights in shining karma
Tend your flame
And with love for armor
They'll remain

Ever by your bed
Guarding, still sleeping
Shield your soul from this rain
Knights in shining karma will remain

Jealous winter sun...
Cold as vichysoisse
Steals your smile for fuel
They'll ignite with braziers
Of warming stars

Knights in shining karma
Wash your feet
And with spotlesss darma come complete

Ever by your sink drying
Up tea tears
Shield your soul from this heat
Knights in shining karma come complete

Swollen summer moon
Hot as boiling air
Poach your dreams to ash
They'll bring sips from restful slumbers
Cooling keg

Jealous winter sun...

I love how little sense this song makes. The rhythm soothes me.

Wow. Pure Brian Wilson this one. Very good too.

YES...this is a fabulous album and should've been their last.
These chaps should've signed off after Apple Venus and NOT made Vol 2.
    That record wasn't great.
They've already had "Black Sea", one of my favourite rock albums of all time, from start to finish.
I've never understood the constant comparisons to the Beatles and the Beach Boys and on and on....but on Apple Venus i hear it, Sgt Pepper does comes to mind.
Those horns on Easter Theatre, the pianos on Frivolous and that Indian sound (is it Raga?) on Greenman.
However, for the most part, XTC does not sound like any one else, every album is different and for this their songs will never ever become stale.
They should be nicknamed the Fab 3 - boasting three excellent guitarists, two accomplished songwriters, two very good singers and ONE immensely talented multi-instrumentalist in Dave Gregory.
And that brings me to some regrets about XTC, that Dave thought of himself as just being a side-man even after 20 yrs of being in the band. Yes, he didn't write songs but he was a big part of the sound, the lead guitars, the acoustic guitars, the pianos, the synths....wonder if he played harmonica too, and the harpsichord on Last Balloon?
I was surprised and sad to hear him say that about himself.
And other regrets - i wished they could've made a bit more money and didn't have those huge battles with their label.
You hear so much praise heaped upon XTC but ......No Fame, No Fortune!!
Too bad, but that's ok, they will remain one of my favourite bands.

Apple Venus is their masterpiece. I don't care how good Skylarking was, or how catchy English Settlement is, this album is pure genius.

    D.... Y....

    Hard to argue.

    D.... Y....

    Daniel Yahalom agreed. beautiful

    D.... Y....

Daniel Yahalom: Absolutely....especially with songs like this one and "Your Dictionary"..."The Last Balloon". As you said....pure genius. No other way to describe it. Probably THE most under-rated supremely talented band. And yes, as great as Skylarking was (Nonsuch was excellent too), Apple Venus rises above.

    D.... Y....

Agree but then I hear Nonsuch and I believe both are companions. Both albums have their most mature and inspired songs.
