XTC - Cynical Days Lyrics
Another year's gone by,
The world's grown older,
Sometimes I heave a sigh,
People grow colder.
I can make it in this world I know,
But all the bad thoughts that people bring,
My faith in human nature's
Getting pretty thin.
Help me get through these cynical days.
Help me get through my cynical ways.
You say it's just a passing phase,
You've got to help me get through, these cynical days.
People are shallow.
The dark night's closing in,
My dark thoughts follow.
I try and make my world a better place,
(my efforts seem in vain),
But I'm competing in a human race,
(falling deeper down the drain),
That value things that just don't count,
Help me get through these cynical days.
Help me get through my cynical ways.
You say it's just a passing phase,
You've got to help me get through these cynical days.
Yeah, you say it's just a passing phase,
You've got to help me get through these cynical days.
Yeah, you say it's just a passing phase,
You've got to help me get through these cynical days.
You've got to help me get through these cynical days.
Cynical days.
Cynical days.

XTC Cynical Days Comments
By far my favorite XTC album. One of the most-played albums I have. It's got a plethora of influences and vibes, yet it's somehow all XTC. Fantastic musicianship!
Oh what a fantastic song on an amazing album. One of the best albums ever!
A year's gone by...
Really relate to this song
1988 people,,think about it
Lately this song speaks to me when dealing with unpleasant a#@$*&%s in my life. Thanks Colin.
beautiful song
This song never got on my radar and now I have been tasked with learning it for a band. Where does one find a tab for this?
People are shallow you got that right see it every day
Love this never get tired of XTC best band no ones listening to!!!
One of my all time under the radar bands been listening to these guys over 25 years one reason i believe and know is that andy partridge had stage fright and didn't like to preform live doesn't matter these guys rock if your not familiar just listen they will not disappoint lots of great songs
Dukes of the Stratosphere ( XTC in reality ) "25 O'clock" , "Psonic Psunspot", and XTC with "Oranges and Lemons" is in my opinion, the greatest homage to the psychedelic era of rock music. Whenever I hear the songs from these three albums, it instills memories of 1965 - 1968. And the "Oranges and Lemons" Peter Max style artwork is amazing !
Gonna have trouble not listening to all of O/L now
colin incredibly ...breaks it down
Mark Isham on his horn. Pat Mastelotto of King Crimson drumming along!! Andy Partridge singing back up vocals!
Wow I had no idea Mark Isham played on Oranges and Lemons! Two of my favourite artists and they've collaborated! Thanks for this.
One of Colin's best songs. My favorite XTC album!
