I saw them live last wednesday and I can sincerely say that it was the best concert I have ever attended. There was so much love from the band to the audience. The interaction was awesome. They are such nice guys. Oh, and Sam has one fucking hell of a voice. He may be one of the few artists who are even better when singing live.

Hey Alvin and Droid,
everytime I listen to this song I think of just after we first met. when we had no home. When we were living in Tenderloin hotels, and Alvin was working for the Salvation Army I think it was, Droid was working as a foot messenger, and I was hustling a living in every way I knew how.
AND WE WERE JOYFUL JUST BEING ALIVE!
I remember when Alvin managed to get that tiny little apartment down south of Market, and he would drive the Salvation Army donation truck and park it on Howard St, and we'd all run down the alley unloading all of the good stuff before he returned the truck to the Salvation Army yard.
I am remembering taking all of that stuff out the the Geneva Drive inn on the weekends for the flea market.
We were not rich by any stretch of the imagination, but with a tiny little south of Market apartment, a plate of Alvins homemade spaghetti, and some the best KGB known to man we were wealthy beyond belief!
WE WERE JOYFUL JUST BEING ALIVE!
I am remembering the time Alvin burned that dealer for a 1/4 pound of dope, walked in the door and said we gotta go, PACK! We loaded the car and spent that summer living in an apartment 10 feet from the train tracks in Sacramento. ALL summer sitting next to the river, playing ace-deuce, listening to AC/DC, eating fresh watermelons, and smoking some of the best KGB known to man!
WE WERE JOYFUL JUST BEING ALIVE!
I know there is no returning to that place where for the first time in my life I felt safe in the company of Family, but I do so miss you guys.
Just know that although life in the right now is pretty good, it would be so much more joyful looking forward to Thanksgiving pondering our gathering around Mama's Table, anticipating 2 days of cooking, and the laughter and smells that Thanksgiving always brought too that house on Harvard St in Sacramento. That house where we fought the endless staining of the mulberries that giant tree was so generous in bombing us with!

Anyway, I gotta go...............
Know that I am thinking of you today, and I miss you so.
