These could have been my mom's very words. A few years after my dad passed away, my mom remarried. Sadly, they were only married a few years when he too passed away. That was 20 years ago. And now my mom is gone as well. She never got over my dad, but I'm glad she had a few years with another good man. This song bring back lots of memories!
@FrankATracy I am the co-writer of Next To You. I'm happy to see you picked up on the real meaning of this song even though it wasn't reflected in the video. When we were writing this song it was from the point of view of a widow (or widower) telling their lost love of the new person in their life. I must admit I wish the video had told the story we had written! Thanks for posting. I'm glad this song touched you.

+scriptvtr Alan or Chris, I've been listening to country music since 1968, but since 1982 I've been listening more to Christian music. And that was especially true in 1989, the same year I met my future wife and only the second year of me going to church. I don't remember this song on the radio but indeed found it here on YouTube. It's funny, but Loretta Lynn has always reminded me of my mom, and Tammy Wynette reminds me of my mother-in-law. Fortunately my mother-in-law is still with us.
