Wright, Chely - The Love That We Lost Lyrics

Going through old dresser drawers
Fumbling through there closets
It's got to be here somewhere
I know it's round here somewhere

Searching from room to room
We couldn't have just lost it
I know it's round here somewhere
It's got to be here somewhere

Maybe we packed it up
With college books and winter clothes
Things we thought were in the way
Out of style or just outgrown

[Chorus:]
We didn't give it away
We just left it alone
We tried to find it one day
That's when we noticed it gone
I turned the house upside down
Praying I'd stumble across
Some sign thats it's still around
Got to find the love that we lost

Captured in old picture frames
Shinning in those faces
It used to be here somewhere
I know it's still here somewhere
Reflected in our children's eyes
How could we misplace it
I know it was here yesterday
How could it just slip away
it was more then just a box of junk
We stored away to gather dust
This was a dream we thought
We always could reach out and touch

[Repeat chorus twice]

Got to find the love that we lost

Wright, Chely The Love That We Lost Comments
  1. M.... R....

I remember this song back in the Spring of 96 and when I was at the Iowa Braille School in Vinton Iowa my friend named Amber Bushbaum and I sang the chorus part when her and I played at the playground Braille Hill the playground's name. I remember on Friday April 19 of 96 I was at home upstairs in my Room when Kix 101 radio played this song and I sang along 2 this song.

  2. E.... A....

To bad she is a lesbian

    E.... A....

First off it's TOO bad that you think it's TO bad instead of TOO bad (it's supposed to be TOO bad). Also who gives a crap if she is a lesbian??? What's that gotta do with her incredible music

    E.... A....

@Equine Amy01.....what's your point? Also, learn proper grammar.

    E.... A....

    I think it's wonderful that she's a lesbian......out and proud !!!!

  3. m.... k....

    Excellent Singer,

  4. n.... ....

In the beginning, she got her name confused with country star Michelle Wright.

    n.... ....

I've actually heard of Michelle (never heard anything from her. But if I'm not mistaking she's Canadian) and also I have Chely's single white female CD and never thought until a few years ago if Chely's real name could of been Michelle

  5. S.... E....

my 35 year old marriage, never found it again. love this song

  6. D.... D....

One of the best singers in the business.  This song was one of the first I heard of Chely.  I love this and all she has done since.,

  7. T.... Q....

I don't believe that everyone shunned her, more like she stopped making music. It's rather difficult to remain in the lime light when you disappear or remove yourself from it.

  8. D.... ....

She is a very underrated country singer. She came out of the closet and everyone's shunned her. I hated that. She's still a good singer and I saw her in concert when I was 8. She is my inspiration and the reason I want to be a singer.

  9. B.... ....

this is that song that makes me think about her my ex-girlfriend we were together for 8 years I still love her a part of me always will but she cheated on me and although I love her I can't bring myself to forgive her I'll never find the love that we lost

  10. D.... ....

    dude my ring tone !

  11. L.... ....

This song is wonderful. She re-recorded it for Single White Female, but this original remains my favorite.

The first song that actually made me cry. I love this song.
