Womack, Bobby - Love, The Time Is Now Lyrics

Love, the time is now
I heard somebody say
You had to get better after a while
But I say

Love, the time is now, yeah
Freedom for all
And
So hurry up change
If you ever gonna come

Love, love, the time is right now
Won't you please for me
Yessir, Yeah

Love, the time is right now
I heard somebody say
It's gonna be alright after a while

There's a cloud over head
And it's so dark and
Let my people go
Can't you see it's time and we're here

Love, love, love
Love, The time is now
I don't wanna leave you but I got to go
Yeaaah

You've got the stars
Let's get an understanding
We're all sisters and brothers
Whooooooo ooooh

back in the days when real humans made music for normal people. not like todays crap that is so out of touch with the reality that most people are living! todays music is cold .. soulless and brings out only the worst in the people and the lyircs as so hollow and empty!

REGGIE YOUNG was 82 in December 2018 - a legend amongst session guitarists who boasted a six-decade career (since 1956) and passed just recently (17 January 2019).

I just reviewed a (mostly) fabulous CD compilation put by Ace Records of the UK called "Session Guitar Star" (January 2019 release) - see Amazon and my Blog "Sounds Good Looks Good".

It's a 24-track compilation and I was interested to find out more about what Reg contributed to? "Son Of A Preacher Man" by Dusty Springfield, "Cracklin' Rose" by Neil Diamond, "In The Ghetto" by Elvis Presley and J.J. Cale's "Cocaine" - are some of his more famous cuts. But he specialised in playing for Soul artists - Solomon Burke, King Curtis, James & Bobby Purify, The Sweet Inspirations, Wilson Pickett and the mighty Bobby Womack (Young even contributed to a Natalie Merchant CD called "Leave Your Sleep" in 2010).

So in a bit of a session-trawl, I was amazed to find Reggie Young played Guitar on all of Bobby Womack's debut album "Fly Me To The Moon" from 1968 on Minit Records - that includes this truly gorgeous Soulful lament - "Love, The Time Is Now" - co-written with Jimmy Holiday.

With Trump's sickening divisiveness policies and Nazi bollox about a six billion dollar wall - I can't help thinking that both Bobby and Reggie (who played on this tune) would love to hear a timely reminder of what really matters.

    "Love, The Time Is Now"...

Hope you enjoy it. By way of info, the song was also the US B-side of a March 1969 7" single "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" on Minit Records 32059 (no UK issue)...

This song was played every night at 11:00 p.m. sign-off time by Houston's all Black radio station, KYOK AM, in fall of 1970, which was when I started college. Brings back memories. We guys and ladies all just got quiet and listened to Bobby sing the song. Good times!

Take your time bobby. Like  this. He could sing his ass off when he was young. Such a great singer who was so underrated and so under appreciated. His singing was as good as it comes. Soulful powerful and to the point. This man will bring tears of joys to your eyes, just listen. To many he is their favorite singer.

Bobby womack in his prime 1967 through 1975 his voice was powerful

I used to sit and listen to this lovely offering with my mother. As we listened quietly I now wonder what her thoughts were then. I wasn't old enough to have a confluence of thoughts blended with experiences as we dug on Womack from vastly different generational perspectives. I am old enough now and I wonder.........

biggerthomazz your message just reminded me of the times me and my mother have sat and listened to music in silence and nearly bought me to tears for some reason, I just walked into the next room to tell her I love her!
