Wolves At The Gate - Hindsight Lyrics
As I drift on the water, a voice calling to me had said
"Sail in to the harbor, cast down your nets and follow Me"
First of all the chosen, I saw the raising of the dead
It must be my devotion, for I stood alone upon that sea
It's clear I was the bravest, to meet the stranger on the deep
I am the rock on which to build this land
Got the keys to the kingdom, I'm at His right hand
I was the first among the chosen, the boldest in devotion
Walking out upon the ocean, what else could I need?
I'm well-versed in forgiveness, as many as seven times repeat
In service was I fearless; attack my king, my blade you'd reap
What else could I need?
Haunting my reflection, a bitter thought comes to my mind
I made known my objection, about how You had come to die
You said my thoughts were of the devil's kind
I was opposed to Your kingdom, and I should get behind
But You were talking like You're cursed, already laying in Your deathbed
Maybe somehow You were mislead, may it never be!
You said I would fall away, before the rooster's crow would end
To my shame did I betray, deny You as my closest friend
I'm singing, heart is hardened
I'm sleeping in the garden
I'm swinging swords I'm guarding my kingdom and my stardom
Am I different than Judas? For I betrayed the kindest friend
I'm all out of excuses, with nothing to make my amends
O Love! O Love! O Love!
You bottomless abyss!
O Love! O Love! O Love!
You bottomless abyss!
How tender You had spoken, though I betrayed the kindest friend
Faithful in devotion, such love I cannot comprehend
Oh when You found me I was broken
From the words that I had spoken
But You were faithful in devotion
You remembered me!
You remembered me!

Thanks you!
Man this song makes me cry
God this song!
What's the symbolism with the sphere sprinkled with white spots and then poured on with black liquid?
Poetry. Purest form of it
2:55-3:33
Oh my wickness seems to have no end.
I hold everything above the one that died for me. I'm no better then Judas.
"How tender You had spoken, though I betrayed the kindest friend
Faithful in devotion, such love I cannot comprehend"
Richly blessed is this band!
This song is amazing.
This song isn't as heavy as a lot of their other ones, but it is easily one of my favorites. I hope they do more songs like this, written from the viewpoints of Biblical characters. I think a hard-hitting song could be done from the viewpoint of Paul as he reflects in prison on his life, where he came from and the kind of man he was, and where the Lord brought him and bestowed upon him such mercy and grace.
Some guy in one of the songs idk which one said that WATG songs were too lyrically religious and let me just say thankyou to the band for standing bold with truth, I don’t read the lyrics and think it can have a second meaning, I read them and know their for God and it’s the best thing in the world to see real bible believing and God fearing Christians making sound music God bless this band and it’s listeners and all believers everywhere may the peace of Jesus reside in you
I’ve never heard a rock song and cried out of praise for God. Honestly this is different from secular rock. I’ve been praying to God for a band that has a genuine real rock sound and actual biblical truths that don’t lead me astray from Jesus and this is it. Thankyou to this band AND GLORY TO GOD for answering my prayers.
There is, “Hillsong young & free” - Hindsight, and then there’s this version. I prefer this version :)
Awesome song! I loved it! :)
Pls do more song
Can anyone make a video on how the drummer played the last part of the song? I hear so much going on but I don’t know how to translate it
I think this would sound pretty good acoustic. I can figure out the riff notes notes but I'm not good with chords. Can someone throw some ideas?
I just realized now this song is as if it's Peter singing these words. It's a wonderful thing bands like these do for the glory of God.
it made me realize how great and compassionate really God is.
"Am I different than Judas? For I betrayed the kindest friend."
There is no words that can describe what this song brings, it carries such deep meaning...
You ever just know that God has blessed the band 100% in ways to relay His message to others in the sincerest way possible? This is the band I feel that from the most. Keep using your talents for God's glory brothers
Agreed man!
This...is...GOOD! Hadn't heard of these guys, but wow! Rock on for Jesus!
Eh, mediocre at best
Eh, the best song they’ve ever released
my top fav album this year yet so far one of my fav bchristian bands
Listening to it in the Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul. So inspiring... God bless this band!
Too underrated
this band is so amazing, it moves something in me~ I'm not a believer and when my depression kicks in I kind of end up always listening to wolves at the gate. I don't know why, it happens automatical and it feels good, because I kinda feel like I'm not alone in this battle. thank you, thank you a lot
SakiStargazer I'm a believer myself but I also turn to Wolves At The Gate in good and bad times. You should check out "Not Alone" by Red if you haven't already :)
Raul Castillo thank you! I know the band, but not the song xD I will listen to it
The insight that these guys have in to the perspective from Peter's life is amazing. Many times we are just like Peter, and even Judas, for the most part we are like all the disciples in the fact that we would betray Jesus the same way they did. Thank God that His Mercy and Grace is everlasting. We would truly be nothing without Him. O LOVE you bottomless abyss.
baia baia :3
Well, I wasn't prepared for these lyrics. Shit cuts deep.
Anyone know the symbolism of the salting bloody ball? Only thing I can think of is we are to be the salt of the earth and washed clean by the blood of Christ
It's a stone, the ball is made of Stone, representing Peter
Some of the best lyrical writing out there. I was honor n promoting them on a Red/Disciple tour, They remind me of a harder version of Thrice
What is the font type used on the very start?
I saw a comment saying this album is okay...I know opinions are to each's own, but this Album has renewed me!! This has to be their best work!!
Peter Simon
My dad is a firm believer that rock and roll is the devils music and that no band can truly be Christian if they partake in the rock genre. I wonder what kind of senseless excuses he'd make to not like this band lol. No matter how heavy their songs are they're always very Christian based.
I've met a multitude of people who think that way. I always turn to scripture for my response. Specifically where it talks about making a joyful sound. It never says what the sound must be only that it be joyful. For me I find joy in Metal and heavy rock. Each to his own ya know.
DarkMajick - I would agree with your dad... But I would say that of any music that is rebellious against God... Now for like hearted believers to use the tools available and create different sounds (like we have here) and bring glory to God through such boldness then surely it must not be of the devil... The devil can't create anything but only a corrupted copy. Since Satan was the angel in charge of music (could say entertainment as well) he knows the power in music and how to alter the mind. Thankfully this music gives the devil no power and gives glory to God. I hope my rambling makes sense.
Benjamin Carroll - That makes sense and was very well said. I do think, however, that it may be contradictory to say what you just said (that Christians can use music to glorify God regardless of genre) while also saying that you agree with his dad (who says that all music within certain categories/genres is inherently evil). Does that make sense? Maybe I just misunderstood what you meant there.
That aside, I wholeheartedly agree with what you said and think that music should not be automatically discounted as bad just because of its sound. Songs like this can in fact be used to glorify God and can evoke emotional responses and intensity that may not be conveyed the same through different styles. That said, we should be careful what we expose ourselves to and how it affects us. I don't really listen to any metal or hardcore that is not, at the very least loosely centered around Christian messages since I believe that its often, as you said, rebellious against God and often carries negative, rebellious, and nihilistic messages that may cause me to stumble or may have a negative effect on me spiritually/emotionally. All that said, I love bands like Wolves at the Gate and Disciple (another strongly Christian 'metal' band) and believe that they are doing some amazing things.
Beautiful :')
God heal me of what I'm going through. but if not I will still rest in you.
John 21
jesus christ,you're the best guys
havent teared up to a song like this since their Man of Sorrows song, powerful stuff
3:30 has the feels
this song touched me WAY more than I thought it would.
I might be crying a bit now.
Almost a year later and I don't know what I'm doing with my life.
I don't know what I'm doing with my life.
I'm back after making a huge mistake
Again.
It's 4 a.m.
And I just realized I'm wasting my time
My life
My life.
.
I need Jesus so much.
What have I done?
@Shy Guy 585 why do I need a last name This may be a bit late but the Lord is always there watching over us. We all always fall short of the Kingdom, but never forget that the relationship we seek with God requires communication. Ask for forgiveness and you shall receive. God bless you brother in Christ
Shy Guy 585 why do I need a last name this life is vanity, fleeting and passing, I pray God helps you keep a desperate need for Jesus, trust alone in Jesus. Don’t depend on anything but Him, Live for Him, His mercies are new ever morning
I really like sound and words but this video makes me want a hot fudge sundae with peanuts!
Gospel pure and simple.
"attack my king, and my blade you will reap" 😡
I think I would of done the same thing as Peter. Thank God for redemption :)
just met a grey fox. 🌬
This song brought me to tears. Keep up the good work guys. God bless
Same! Am I different than Judas hit me.
De todos os albuns do Wolves, esse foi o que eu mais esperei, e não me arrependi de ter esperado!
Meu Deus, a profundidade das letras deles só aumentam com o tempo...
such a beautiful song
i love this song<3

This song is so good at putting you directly in Peter's shoes, and showing us we would probably fail in the same way Peter did. Thankful for our Redeemer, Jesus!
Ben Buckwalter we all fall, the key is rising up from what tears us from him. Riding ourselves of worldly causes and desires even if it hurts. That’s what Jesus meant to follow him. The life of a believer and Christian is not easy especially when the devil ransoms you, sometimes even by your own flesh. The word speaks of putting God first above all else. Yet we all fail. Our wants to succeed and to provide and protect may blind us when he calls us out. I been there. I struggle daily. This song portrays just that. We are no different and the science of our mind works around this. Yes he loves us as a bottomless abyss. I just saw these guys a couple weeks ago and what the lead singer said hit me hard. I as a Christian raised and born again fall daily but I know I am loved and for that I encountered the Holy Spirit and repent. We tear our garments over and over again and he still loves us and comforts us of our torments. We are nothing to his feet but he loves us as we are scum.
^ dang. Where do I find a Christian girl who listens to wolves at the gate
I couldn't have said better myself!
It is always sad however how so many sermons seem to bash Peter because he "did not have enough faith" when in fact he was the only disciple to get up while the other hid in fear. We gotta give credit to Peter for having such faith in Jesus. But I do not believe most people would even be in Peters shoes most would be hiding in fear of the storm, myself possibly included only time and testing will show me which disciple I will become.
I'm almost crying haha this song is awesome! God bless you guys!
Ruan Neves i fell asleep lol
Elias Hernandez :v sustain is more.
just AMAZING...i liked the song before i knew all the lyrics, but now.....wow.
I was NOT emotionally ready for this song. Gosh. God is working through this band in unbelievable ways.
Wow I feel like judas....Lord forgive me...
Don't we all, Judas is my favorite prophet because he had the hardest time.
Probably my new favorite Wolves song
TheSchoeMaker I have to agree!
