Idk what this song is about but here is my theory.

Note: When I say 'you', it's not necessarily mean you, yourself. It's just I'm keeping the song as it is, I wouldn't say he or she, they, etc.. So please keep in mind that I'm not calling out on anyone, thank you.

When she sings 'You put the pill inside the petal', I'm guessing the pill is a healing and petal is love (because flowers have petals and some of them are used for love and all, also petal is soft and vulnerable, just like love). "You put the petal inside the metal" I'm guessing is a cutting tool, like how suicidal people use a razor and all those sharp stuffs to cut themselves, as I've said above, this metal is a healing pill metal, well that's what I think. "You build the metal for your house" I think she means that you build up your own walls (since house is supposed to be somewhere you feel safe or at least your shelter for every night) around you to cover up your cuts. "And the night runs wild", as I've said above (again I'm sorry my English sucks) I think the night is reality, dark and mysterious, most of all, dangerous. That's why you build up your 'house', your comfort zone. "You put the pill inside the petal and it turns white" I think you combine healing and your love together and it becomes a lie (idk how tf I got this, maybe bc I was randomly remembering the word 'white lies'). "You put the metal inside your mouth" I think at this point, you're committing suicide. "You bleed into your house of nettles" your walls have finally collapse and now, it's no longer the same 'person' it was supposed to act as and so people found it painful (which explains the 'nettles' part). "There's an ocean inside your chest" it represents your tears that have been held up, so much that they're now and ocean, salty. "We've been sleeping inside your head" I think it either means you have a lot of personalities, or I'd refer as 'bipolar disorder'. It can also means there are voices inside your head. Last meaning, it can also means the personalities of voices inside you have finally awaken and try to break free from your 'jail', your walls. "We've been sleeping inside your hands" it's just like above but this time, the personalities have been controlling you or the voices have been controlling you or, either of them, personalities and voices, have awaken and will break themselves free from your walls.

And that's all my theory, tbh, that's the longest comment I've ever typed in my entire life! Doubt anyone would read this wholesome nonsensical explanation tho 😂 I just realised I wasted almost 15 min to this, my gosh--

Great song, chelsea wolf is an amazing singer and song writter i love her music. And this song is beautifully written and her voice has so much emotion in it.

I have 4 of her CD's. So I've been listening to her since "The Maw". But I didn't have this one. Well I got a chance to listen to this cd today. Don't get me wrong all the songs on this cd are great. But I have to admit. I must have played this particular track about 12 times today while @ work. This song is so haunting. God! I wish that she does something with Bauhaus, . Also Hiss Spun, is awesome too.
