Wolf, Karl - Intro Lyrics

Get your body movin on the dance floor
Shake your body girl, Shake your body girl
Get your body movin on the dance floor
Shake your body girl, Shake your body girl

She wants to know, everything you do,
When your far away, or shes next to you
Baby, your in love, or ya just gettin down
Only time will tell, so baby come around

I'm on it, like water when your so hot like fire
Your body just burnin, till your feet are almost hurtin
You feel the pressure, Your loves like here to treasure
C'mon boy go get that girl, all she wants to do is rock your world!

She wants to know, will you be there for her till the end
She wants to know, gonna love her more than just a friend
She wants to know, that dude is feelin her for real (yeah)
She wants to know cause she loves you [x2]

Get your body movin on the dance floor
Shake your body girl, Shake your body girl
Get your body movin on the dance floor
Shake your body girl, Shake your body girl

Shes in the zone, shes rockin all alone
Showing off her body, you know I'd take her home with me
Now it's time, to give you what I got
Girl just let me spend, hit you in the right spot

I'm on it, like water when your so hot like fire

You feel the pressure, Your loves like here to treasure
C'mon boy go get that girl, all she wants to do is rock your world!
(All she wants to do is rock your world!)

She wants to know, that dude is feelin her for real (yeah)
She wants to know cause she loves you [x2]

Overly simplistic straw man argument .
His position has an absolute zero chance to improve on our current system for too many reasons to site.

Does anyone else watch this and feel like he’s not saying anything? It all just boils down to ego and resentment at Being, exploitation is a good thing not a bad thing, he calls things unfair and he’s right but the blame of that is not on ‘masters’ it’s on nature itself. He talks in a tone of voice as if you should be mad, but there is no reason to EVER be mad

Find the most stupid man and he will be an intellectual Look at a soviet town or village . Bleak and hopeless with a beautiful empty hotel, archway or statue depicting some noble idea. The people deserted ignored by their government. A practical man with a human heart like Trump would breath life into places like that as he endeavours to do in the US rust belt. The world is probably facing two major threats opposite to the intellectuals pronouncements namely depopulation and a new ice age through lack of atmospheric CO2

    D.... C....

So, you're wrong about the USSR, and about trump.

    Now what?

  9. D.... C....

Only a quarter into the talk i'm irritated out of my mind at how many flaws and omissions there are in his talk. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Marxism and fairness in this world but.. Even in those little 'family units' or tribes where everybody individually cared for their own needs, there WAS already specialisation and division of labour present. Mom did specifically this, father this, uncle that, grandmother such, etc.. For THOUSANDS of years. Not just a few hundreds. It is not such a 'new' concept at all. And slaves or servants, people who worked at somebody's farm just for food and shelter but added surplus with their work to benefit the farm , and hence the main farmer , The Boss (!), and his closest kin, have existed way beyond a few hundred years. Way before castles and feudalism.
Trade as a way of distributing essential goods for survival between individual human beings (yes also within families) has a much longer and deeper ingrained history than this guy is pretending it . And that lords, bosses etc..don't do shit or didn't ever produce anything at all is also a gross generalization. Because services are also a product. Now and then. Not saying it was a *fair* deal, but they did provide shelter, protection (yes yes the maffia does that too, i know), organisational support etc... It's not like the (head)Farmers and Duke's etc..where on an endless hammock vacation where they could exactly do as the pleased full time. They still had to spend a considerable amount of their time to their duties -other than drinking cocktails- or actual fysical work that benefited the community within its economical and cultural context. What a housekeeper mom produces or someone in an emergency callcenter is also an economical good with fruits that can't be taken home but how doed that create a surplus for s boss that profits from it? And why did he leave out people who have their own business?? we don't all work for a boss, or want to that DEFAULT, a lot of us work for our clients and that is a different relationship. And this has existed throughout history as well.

  10. J.... S....

This is the single greatest marxist intro / american history lecture I have ever heard. Although not a marxist and although prof does criticise him during the lecture, to some extent, the needed movement he discusses as the antidote to capitalism is precisely what bernie sanders' Our Revoution has done / is doing

  11. J.... S....

Seminal, epic, quintessential lecture from a man who has obviously dedicated his life to marxism.

  12. C.... D....

This dude get no pussy I know that for a fact 🙄

    C.... D....

    His wife disagrees.

  13. T.... j....

Thanks to everyone who follow blindly.

  14. T.... j....

What an A hole, OMG, if you want to start your own business so others do the work then go for it. Remember you will risk your savings and you need to make wise choices and work hard before the business takes off.. This guy hates success of others. EF —— UUUuUuUu commie.

  15. M.... F....

But the Employer has to invest in machinery and equipment and employee does not have to. And in case of bankruptcy, the Employer has to pay back the loans to the debts. And the Employee does not have to do.

  16. G.... A....

Bad that you exist. Shame you push the virus of Marxism

  17. V.... P....

Oh my god. It all makes so much more sense. God damn it

  18. A.... A....

1:17:50 they also then feel GUILTY for going to political meetings or spending tooo much "leisure time" with family rather than WORKING- see because THAt would mean theyre LAZY like theyve brainwashed into thinking!!!

  19. A.... A....

"The Deserving" are not the rich.

  20. A.... A....

We need a real life Joker :D.. like if youre here on dec 18, 2019 :D

  21. J.... P....

The answer is not communism, which only really works at the familial level (it doesn't scale up well). Capitalism as it is currently needs to be reined back and the corruption, patronage, and lobbying limited. Taxes need to be adjusted (upwards) on corporations so that they pay for their externalities. CEO compensation could be limited to a #X the average salary or some other formula, and production bonuses shared with all employees. It is the government's job to regulate and adjust these things to bring about the greatest prosperity for the entire population. You could call that socialism, but it's underlying base is still capitalism, with the appropriate balances in place. It is the government's job to keep the playing field level (equal opportunity) and to enact and enforce laws that punish those that employ unfair and corrupt business practices. That is what we are lacking!!!

    J.... P....

    Who's advocating communism?

    Not Wolff.

  22. J.... P....

I don't have a comparable "education" as this guy does, but at least I'm able to critically think through his lame arguments. Firstly, he barely discusses Marx except for where he "takes" a restaurant and gives it to the employees. You are free to set up a worker co-op enterprise under the capitalist system. Go ahead, give it a try and see how it goes. But you don't get to TAKE a business that someone else has founded, financed and grown to the point of being able to employ others. In order for that business to get to that point, someone or a group of partners had to risk their own security and likely worked for many hours without pay. If you want to share in the profits, then you also have to share in the risks. Are you willing to take a job where the boss says "if we don't make enough to pay all the expenses, you don't get paid"?

Marx proposes to TAKE the means of production away from those who built it up and hand it over to the employees. Then he vaguely explains how some centralized system will determine what is to be produced, etc. And what do you do with the entrepreneur that you have just dispossessed? Historically, they went to the Gulags. And then you have a bunch of employees that have no experience and real skin in the game, but will somehow be adept at running and growing this business. Yeah, see how that works out.

  23. p.... i....

Tell me, why did you post this video to YouTube? For money, capitalism. If there wasn’t a reward for the behavior, this content wouldn’t exist. That is why capitalism produces more than socialism.

    p.... i....

    Nope. It's free.

And rewards are more than money.
    Produce more?
Why is that the measure of whether something is good?

    'Enough' is better.
Also, you get to keep your world.
    Notice the climate change?
    Capitalism.

  24. p.... i....

Lol, I am not a leach, people go home and feed their families because I pay them to do things I could do myself. They lack the self direction to make productive use of their labor, whereas I can just pay people who work for Home Depot to install a roof for me. I could pay less and do it myself, but there are two kinds of leverage, you can leverage money, and you can leverage time, being an employer is simply a way to leverage time, whereas borrowing is a way to leverage money.

  25. F.... t....

I don't know what this guy is still doing here when all he has to do is move to North Korea for all his Utopian dreams to be realized.

    F.... t....

Is this your attempt at wit?

    F.... t....

No. It was serious life advice. How did you detect humor?

  26. F.... W....

Notice his anger ? Why ? Other people being happy , successful & leaving him alone. This anger is what filled the nazi gas chambers , the soviet gulags & the Cambodian killing fields.

  27. T.... C....

He literally says communism was the traditional economic model and mentions that conflict, tension, and gossip (which no doubt results in anger) were all a part of that model that you've just got to accept, then five-minutes later says slavery introduced the concepts of "conflict, tension, and anger" into the production process. That's a contradiction in his own argument, so one statement must be untrue. I'd submit that it is the latter. And I'd be willing to bet that most people who work at the co-op businesses (communally run businesses) at UMass - Amherst (Dr. Wolff's institution) would agree with me.

    T.... C....

    No. It's not.
    conflict exists where people do.

But the system of slavery introduces MORE.

Your issue is not spotting that things like more' and 'less' exist.
And from experiences with co-ops, there is LESS tension, because the system does not add more.

    T.... C....

    Antediluvian Atheist

Well I went to UMass. And I know dozens of people who worked at the co-ops on campus. And I know for a fact that there was enormous amounts of conflict created by the business model. Conflicts that don’t exist in standard business models.

So what now? Your experience suggests one conclusion and mine suggests another. Maybe you should present some empirical evidence, from a study with a large sample size, that the co-op structure creates less tension. Because I’d say the evidence we have— the large, productive businesses within the relatively stable country we occupy—is pretty good evidence that the standard model minimizes conflict quite well.

  28. T.... C....

Humans did not do "real well" by any definition of that phrase prior to markets. Saying they did is tantamount to denying that the climate is warming or calling the Earth flat.

    T.... C....

You are confusing markets with the technology that made life easier.

  29. b.... u....

The answer to centralization is not another brand of centralization! Socialists and capitalists have the same boss. The solution to oligarchic centralization of commerce is not government centralization. It’s like putting lipstick on a pig. The answer is fragmentation of consumption in the private sector by restoring regional mom and pop farming and rust belt manufacturing. We also need to get rid of the genocidal CIA swamp crew of lobbyist liars who looted all the savings and loans in the 80’s and provoked and funded both sides of ever war debt boom, bust and bailout cycle. Socialism is far too easy for occultists to infiltrate. We could keep consumer spending at 70% of GDP and rebuild the middle class with mom and pop interstate commerce as guaranteed by law of our constitutional republic.

    b.... u....

Nope. He explained in great detail, and you missed it. Some how.
    Democratization. Less central.
Go back and re listen. or check his channel.

    b.... u....

Antediluvian Atheist- lets say we could find “good people” to lead government control of every aspect of commerce. How long would it take for bad people in infiltrate it? Smiling smooth talking mainstream alarmists and con men have always found their way to suck taxpaying consumers dry. We have a basis to reverse engineer this mess, and the only way is to permanently restore our Constitutional Republic as Andrew Jackson did. Do your research. Allow regional supply and demand to determine the price of credit, goods and services and restore fragmented interstate commerce in the private sector. Restore mom and pop organic farming rust belt manufacturing and savings and loans and dismantle the CIA CFR Bush Clinton Kissinger lobbyist liars who repealed Glass Steagall, imposed NAFTA and corrupt corporate welfare. It’s really too big to fail corporate socialism to blame. We need to dismantle globalist centralization of Monsanto, the federal reserve and the George Sorros Neera Tanden Podesta NGO’s who are messing with our food and hindering humanity by destabilizing regions only to control commerce at a low price. More cheap oil and opium please! Meanwhile toppled regional genocides are being sold as missions of spreading freedom. Socialism is a Hegelian solution from Millionaires working for billionaires. Taking profit out of health care and education doesn’t equate to socialism.

  30. R.... R....

What a beautiful presentation. All this time I thought my under achievement was my fault inspite of me leaving home 4.30 in the morning and coming home 10.30 at night working 2 jobs, living hand to mouth and cannot buy a house. Great, intelligent presentation. Thank you.

  31. C.... S....

Wolff is known for ridiculous criticisms of economics-related subjects, but this must be his dumbest ever. He wants the things that people poduce to be given for free to those who need them. Nobody would be willing to work to produce under those circumstances.

    C.... S....

I bet you're not paid what you are worth.

  32. D.... H....

This video is captioned for the first 15 mins then it drops off. Could somebody caption this, or at least turn on auto-generate so it can be captioned?

  33. R.... O....

I'm not convinced he and Robert Krulwich are two separate people

  34. M.... W....

Capitalism can be bashed as much as you want and it does need fixed but nothing would ever make me even consider the slightest bit towards socialism or communism or Democratic socialism just fix the problems with capitalism it'll be okay

    M.... W....

    Ok bootlicker

  35. M.... W....

This guy is fucking nuts why is he so angry look at that pissed off look on his face what the hell is he so mad at whatever he's mad at it makes him that mad something happened to that dude when he was younger that he's been pissed off his whole life I bet if you look at this guy's history if you could find out what it was from a kid up until now you figure out exactly why he's acting this way

  36. M.... A....

32:00 If i got 'ripped off' at work, I would spend the night at the 'tavern' drinkin' 'til the morn', and when the foreman come find me and start pullin' me t'ward the factory, I'd say " shove off. I quit"! ( and probably give him a mighty shove, too!) Doesn't this Wolf guy seem to have an agenda or something (like an ideology, maybe..)? Can't i just quit my job if i get ripped or burned or otherwise manipulated? Don't i have that option? Do i gotta despise every factory in the land afterward, thinking the Governors is dishonest men? Give me a break, PutzFace. If you are a Marxie fckn Trotskie stinckin' Maoist, then ya. Okay then.... go hunt wild boar and sell the meat by the side o' the road..least 'til the man come take you down... and hard, eh. delusional commie fckheads make me sick to my guts. I would so love to meet this 'professor' and chat over some important points

  37. M.... A....

no no no. the workers will surely fck off if i don't give them a fair shake...indeed they will never come 'round in the first place because if i am such a cheap, manipulative, bastard, slave driver. Wolf the putz doesn't want you to think that workers are valued and essential contributors. No no. 'the man' is out to screw them all! I'll admit that there are a few bastards that are out there bleeding folks, but it shouldn't take more than a few decades to weed out the whole lot of them....and here is the essential grievance, i believe: it takes too long to catch the thieving bastrd profiteers...don't condemn the whole system!

  38. M.... A....

equating profit to slavery or servitude is insanity...you can see it in his eyes, actually. What a putz! If a factory does not make a profit ( provide for a profit), then it will eventually fold...imagine the staff agreeing to work overtime for free, or agreeing to a cut in salary JUST TO SAVE THEIR JOBS...unthinkable...so the option is...we all do nothing for no one and we can all struggle and fight to grow spuds and roast them in the same fire that keeps us warm at night...and thru the cold winter day... who needs some stupid factory or some twit feeding sheep for wool. Let's all go along with Mr. Wolf and live in a world without prosperity

  39. M.... A....

'the employer takes the 'fruits ' of your labor...' i can stop you right there, Buddinski. No, he does not. He-the boss- pays you TODAY so you will return for tomorrow's workday. That is all. Plain and simple. Couldn't be more obvious. Understood. If you are so ticked off 'cause you got no 'fruit', and your teeth are brown and rotting, why don't you petition your manager for some lemons at breaktime and a toothbrush? I don't perceive an issue with 'free things' submitting to a salary and the obligations that go along with it.

  40. M.... A....

take off your shoes after drinking a few too many beers and chuck one at your significant other. Ya, just for a lark! Or maybe so you can escape from work the next day ( a travesty according to Wolf)...but most likely you'll escape the entire town after you get kicked outta house and home...then go ahead and blame it on the fact that your boss pays hundreds of people to produce a 'good' that is shipped and sold miles away in some market you can only strive to comprehend, but no, you couldn't even hope to muster up the idea and the courage to try and brew your own brew, maybe with the collaboration of a neighboring 'comrade', so as to save up a few bills (more if you sell some them brewskies). You can please the 'significant other' or show the kids the meaning of sacrifice, hard working determination, and prosperity( step by step my commie friend...). I have zero respect for this professor. There is something (everything) inherently wrong with the Marxist message. Wolf oughta reformulate his ideas while thinking about societies in non-lethal climates, i.e. where there exists zero risk of freezing to death...( if i hold the keys to the castle gates, how many folks gonna come 'round kissin' my arse by late autumn for a spot to warm their buns thru the winter??) You see? "You don't like the job? Don't do it. You don't need the job? Good for you. Now piss off!" WE'z buzy makin' mony and profitz!" We take care of our own...act accordingly

  41. M.... A....

provided by nature? No. the raw materials have been provided by your boss, the owner and risk taker..you can decide to 'sacrifice' a few months of your precious life at the 'fabrik' and then screw off to some wilderness paradise with some little hottie. 'take the money and run' kinda deal. The boss is stuck there...not you! He has everything to lose...you'll only lose a job...most times 'cause you quit...and Wolf, you can learn to needle and wash your own underpants...no tech involved with handmade clothing...dates back more than 3000 years i imagine

  42. M.... A....

if you are providing talks for free, then there are no costs to defer...man. what a way to start into this with a plea for donations from an English flunky.

  43. I.... F....

How can you banne haggling? What will be the punishment for people who practice haggling?

  44. I.... F....

Where does the entrepreneur exists in the professor's vision?

    I.... F....

Exactly, he seems to forget to include that alternative to "slavery". He also neglects to mention that a worker co-op is perfectly available to anyone that wants to set it up as well.

    I.... F....

@Janice Plante This lecture is clearly meant to be a dramatic story of the human development of economic systems. I dont really care if he missed some details about certain ways businesses may be set up. For the vast majority of people alive in the west, this will be the mode of living they have to exist in.

  45. C.... D....

Does anyone know how many rich have mansions in other countries and how many leave after they accumulate a certain amount of wealth and where they go?

  46. C.... D....

RichardDWolff : I imagine you do not pay attention to comments... but if I you happen to see this: Do you have any ideas about the relationship between capitalism denialism and religious denialism. I find the same mentality between those that deny the failures and inconsistencies of capitalism with many religious people who deny the failures and inconsistencies of their dogma and religious texts. There is clearly a psychological dysfunctional underpinning that connects all these failures of humanity that is expressed in these different forms along with many others(I see people that use this denialism in their own personal lives in all respects).

  47. D.... V....

I simply adore explanations of prof. Wolff !! I remember that there was also a global claps of capitalism n the '80 ies, isn't it? Begin in late '70 ies.
    Thank you prof. Wolff.

  48. G.... C....

“If you work for $20 an hour, make a product in that hour and the boss sells for $40, you still only get $20..”. Well no shit, he takes his cut, that’s how a community works. That’s still splitting the profit what part of this is ripping the worker off? If you wanna make your own X start your own company and keep the whole profit.

  49. F.... W....

There are places on earth were capitalism is illegal ... why doesn’t he move there ???

    F.... W....

Because those are totalitarian regimes. Totalitarianism sucks

  50. R.... H....

Thank you Dr. Wolff, you've pushed me even further left!

  51. J.... ....

30:06 Yes, your work is worth more than the employer pays you TO THE EMPLOYER. To you, the employee the money is worth more because you have a job, you're specialized and you don't produce everything you need.

Not to mention that employers usually provide the services of organizing your labor, providing tools, and acting as a buffer between you and volatile markets.

  52. A.... r....

He said markets were a phenomenon that only started taking place a few hundred years ago but then went on to say that Aristotle and Plato despised markets and considers them disruptive and antisocial 🤔

Pretty sure those guys existed before Christ...

  53. A.... S....

The guild system was outside of feudalism and had a lot of good points -- and a few bad. For example, some kind of regulation could have been made to protect journeymen from being shut out of becoming masters and to perhaps curb too much monopoly power, crowding out competition, innovation. Global oligarchic mercantilism could have been made to work within guilds whenever possible, leaving local community intact. But who knows? That's not what happened.

  54. O.... P....

The only purpose of Marxism is the destruction of nation states.

    O.... P....

    unironically sounds good to me

  55. M.... V....

Fascism the last stage of Captilasim!!!

    M.... V....

Nope. Fascists and National Socialists openly and actively fought against the ultra-rich Jewish financial elite. Marxists and others like them, on the other hand, got their funding from the Jewish international bankers and Jewish Wall Street. Marxists have done nothing to stop the elite. They direct the blame and attention to wrong directions. They have not even talked against usury, which is the main reason for the economic inequality and debt.

"In these countries in the so-called “democracies” The people is by no means the main focus of attention. What really matters is the existence of this group of “democracy makers”. That is the existence of a few hundred of giant capitalists who own all the factories and shares and who, ultimately, lead the people. "

The owner of a business takes risk in starting a business that creates surplus. You Marxists are quite flawed to not see its really corporate socialism stealing the most surplus. We need to restore laws of our Constitutional Republic.

    b.... u....

b unangst Also and unforseen consequence of Capitalism is the complete destruction of our planet because of this unlimited growth dream

    b.... u....

Tyreal567 both socialists and capitalists have the same boss. The answer to oligarchic centralization of commerce is not government centralization. Socialism is far too easy for these shadow occultists traitors to infiltrate. The answer to centralization is not another brand of centralization!

  57. b.... u....

Corporate socialism is to blame for the imperfections of true capitalism. If too big to fail parasites like The Federal Reserve, Goldman Sacks and Monsanto were dismantled, we could restore sovereignty to the middle class as guaranteed by law of our Constitutional Republic. Restore mom and pop regional farming and rust belt manufacturing. Stop the oligarchs from funding and provoking both sides of every war debt boom, bust and bailout cycle. Allow regional supply and demand to determine the price of credit, goods and services. Taking profit out of healthcare and education doesn’t equate to a socialist system.

I’m not well acquainted with Aristotle, but it’s hard to see how he “hated markets” when he states in Politics that the market is the basis of society.

    M.... T....

He was talking about the agora. Imagine a big plaza where people gathered to socialize, deal politics, and _trade_. The alert audience members might also suspect that all those ancient coins that existed were not just used to plan for the eventual invention of vending machines.

I dig Wolff, but he was confusing there and shouldn't have been. A few hundred years ago something roughly like capitalism began. That's really what he was trying to talk about. But the language and the timing are both messy.

With communism if someone had to spend one day painting a wall, but the next day someone else could paint the same wall while the first one could choose to do something else, and every person could do one thing one day and something else the next, and something else the next, etc. They could all sign up for something new each day on computers today, until they have fulfilled their hourly quota of work for the next week or month or year. One might choose to get all of their monthly or yearly quota of work all done at once for a month, etc, or they could choose to do one day a week for the entire year. That would be work and don’t work freedom. But in capitalism a person has to do the same thing day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year. So communism would make every person more free than capitalism. But we could make walls of a product that never needs painted, only cleaned, to eliminate toxic paints and make life easier. Same is true for everything, like furniture could be made to last forever, and my pet peeve is that sofas are too low to the floor (NO CARPET allowed!) to clean under and find missing toys that always roll under them and it’s too dark to find them, so sofas should be made on tall steel legs that will last forever and toys are easier to find and self cleaning vacuums can keep the floors clean. Same for all furniture having long tall steel legs. We need to eliminate bed mattresses because they’re so wasteful of products and hard to dispose of, etc. we need to rethink how we do everything and do better to save the Earth our Home! And we can still make furniture comfortable and easy to clean, with fewer choices for everything! We can start websites where all ideas can be discussed for everything, which can’t be done under capitalism! Oh yes, and all nations need to start ASAP building only Tower cities (each one with all things) connected to maglev Trains worldwide, with virtual computers and mobile phones! And of course everything is free, including the Internet, TV (if anyone still wants them...virtual), electric power possibly from Tesla coils on the tops of every Tower (with virtual wiring? and no more wire confusion). Every Tower city might be identical, possibly roundish (dodecagon? or 12-sided like an X or cross? Or both?), with instant hot water at every faucet to save water, the perfect temperature and changes to hotter and colder maybe? And huge yard-size balconies, with high clear handrails plus fine or barely noticeable nets to make it impossible to lose a ball (or, don’t laugh too hard here) and no body can be thrown over to their death (so a spouse can collect life insurance, which won’t exist, because money won’t exist any longer when we have quite a lot of communism, or communism is every nation). I have big dreams for a perfect world. And I don’t care what anyone thinks! Ha! And HA to every loser capitalist! Because then unequal wealth won’t even be possible!!! But I think we need to start soon on T&T to stop climate change, and save the bees and endangered wild animals! Towers must have 15 foot ceilings and 12 foot doors.

  67. s.... ....

Or we could say it simply that capitalism is slavery, and communism is freedom.

  68. L.... A....

Okay, maybe we could let it slide that a relatively small slice of the population gets to live off the surplus of the rest, but it seems a little unreasonable that the very people exempt from labour are the ones that get to decide what to do with the fruits of that labour. It's like if you caught someone skimming money from your bank account and instead of alerting the authorities you handed them your chequebook.

  69. S.... D....

It blows my mind, the level of idiocy required to subscribe to an economic system based on equality of outcome. It requires one to ignore EVERYTHING we know about human psychology, incentives, scarcity, central planning, etc.

  72. H.... ....

No, it's not the case that an individual worker always makes more by their labor than what they are paid. In actuality, what happens is that employers can only make more on the margins by employing many, many workers such that they can beat out their competition. This is the reason companies like Amazon and Google never made a profit for so many years - they had to scale up to eventually make profits.

    H.... ....

This argument cuts into your argument about surplus because it's often in our economy not the workers who are causing the surplus, but the new technology which was created, the new scaled business, the new advertising, etc.; your argument is stuck in the 18th and 19th century and it was a good argument then, just not a good one now.

    H.... ....

@Hegeleze workers made the new technology, labor is the base of all value. Advertising is a result of labor, all commerce runs because of labor. If you say that because labor is abundant it is therefor not worth much, you are implying that humans (the only source of labor in the known universe) aren't worth much. I may be reading too deep here but following that train of thought, doesn't that go against Hegelian dialectics?

    H.... ....

@hardwoodhead Yes, workers made all the tech - who could disagree? Yes, everything created is a result of labor - this is a tautology as it is definitional. But, value doesn't equal labor (it is necessary, but not sufficient).

The problem is the word "labor" is obviously ambiguous and needs to be parsed out.

just incorrect... so many points are wrong... that there's really nothing to point to as a basis for factual dialog. The premise of what economics even is... even that is wrong. He equates production with value... production is a cost. It's a variable in analysis of feasibility. Value doesn't inherently exist because someone worked on anything. Value exists when the relative cost to create it is less that what someone is willing to pay for it. That has nothing to do with any particular economic framework. That exists because human beings exist. Markets... as you put it... existed when cavemen were walking the earth. You don't actually know what you're talking about which is always astonishing to find in a man of your position... yet it can be found so very often unfortunately. You need to completely start over.

Andy T as did most influential classical liberals, including the framers of the US Constitution.

  88. A.... T....

40:15 Wow. It's really weird those greedy capitalists just walked away from all of those machines that could have been used to exploit all of those unemployed people to make excess wealth. Maybe the unemployed can just go shine their own turds, since they aren't allowed to use those machines anymore. If work adds value, how much shit shining must be done to buy a house? I'm gonna say like 100 hours of turd shining should be enough labor value added to that turd. Socialism is a trade-off. It isn't a solution to anything you're talking about. Capitalism is a trade-off between producing just enough to sustain yourself, at the whim of the natural elements, and producing enough to sustain yourself, at the whim of the consumer. That's life. Not a damn thing you can do about it. There is no "better" economic system, just different.

  89. A.... T....

Maybe people wouldn't be so conflicted and angry if they would actually attempt to understand how it is they are holding a computer in their hand that would be the envy of the wealthiest Feudal Lord ever to exist. Instead, you shit upon your incredible wealth, like a petulant king.

  90. A.... T....

This is a grossly inadequate critique of a capitalist system.

    A.... T....

    How so?

    A.... T....

@Doko01 No mention of consumers at all. It's either a gross oversight or a purposeful omission. Doc went to Harvard, I hope it's the latter. Marx doesn't seem to understand why capitalists and labor enter such an "exploitative" arrangement either. It's interesting that neither of them even bothers to say consumers are getting fucked, too. I would dispute that assertion, but I would at least understand mentioning it trying to prove your point that capitalists exploit. You wouldn't describe how the tires on a car roll along the pavement without mentioning the engine that drives them. Purposeful omission is the best case scenario. Dishonest, but at least it doesn't suggest retarded reasoning abilities.

    A.... T....

@Doko01I'm only vaguely familiar with Marx. What little I've read comes across very Freudian. He definitely never considered value to be subjective. He would be completely unable to comprehend someone buying Jesus toast on ebay. The buyer and seller gave that stupid shit value, not the work done by the toaster.

    A.... T....

@Doko01 Although, it would be fun as shit watching someone arguing for the intrinsic value of a piece of Jesus toast.

  91. A.... T....

Wrong. Three conditions must exist for you to get a job. You produce it, and someone buys it, and someone organizes the entire process using capital.

  92. j.... ....

    his man is fantastic !

  93. E.... L....

are you for real trying to say that the concept of "market" is not older then a few hundreds years old....you are not making any sens, you even agree your self that what you say is wrong when you come up with "ooh back then they where trading..." yhea, at markets! I listened to other videos of you as well, it seems you don't really know at all what you talking about. You just change facts to fit into what you are saying... you are doing a Trump! you are fucking ridiculous....

    E.... L....

Regarding your lies about Aristotle: "Although Aristotle, in the Greek tradition, scorned moneymaking and was scarcely a partisan of laissez-faire, he set forth a trenchant argument in favor of private property."

I don't have time to go through all your crap! but people should really source check this nonsens.

  94. s.... ....

Computers also created 10's of millions of Jobs in every sector of society. IT, Repair, Programming etc. it also created 1000's of businesses from small mom& pop stores to large corporations. Capitalism allows every to participate and everyone to benefit.

The detalis are more complicated than this model: The American revolution didn't get rid of slavery, the earlier English revolution that got rid of the king was overturned, and the French revolution actually failed after it was taken over by radicals, Napoleon, then Napoleon lost the war...

  97. A.... K....

Dr Wolff I'm sorry, but you are an idiot. I'll get your motives ( as why you are doing what you are doing)and in many cases I actually agree with you, but your assertion of what constitutes marxism, Is at best denotes complete lack of knowledge, at worst intellectual dishonesty. You are in the need of some serious history lessons.
