Withers, Bill - I Love You Dawn Lyrics

And I've sat in the sunshine in summers of sadness
and lived through the winter when lonely was here

And I've gone throught the motions of feeling for fear
that I never would find you my dear

And I'm thankful to whoever made it all possible for me to be with you while I lived

And spare you the grief if I passed on before you and i don't think I'd live if you died before me.

And I hope that the smell of these roses will follow you on in the time when the roses are gone...

I love you Dawn...

Sounds like a good contender for the soundtrack to a serene post-apocalyptic nature-scape.

I don't know what Bill Withers was thinking or had on his mind when he composed this song. But they had to be heavy on his heart to record such a touching song.

    His words envelope my Soul!

  6. J.... D....

His voice is like velvet, so smooth.

The simplicity of the harmonies and melodies makes the song even greater with some nicely done arrangements details in the background.

The most poetical and sympathetic composer I have heard in my life, the great Bill Withers.

@BallsDeepIn Spaghetti You're thinking of 'Suicide is Painless', but I definitely there's some plagiarism going on here.

...Thank goodness I still have and treasure this album...but...' I love you, Dawn AND 'She's Lonely' blend so beautifully on the album...[as they compliment each other]...any way of uploading it as it's done on the album?

  25. J.... E....

    @woolfdc11 I agree. You're welcome :)

I loved my husband, but he loved his drugs more. This game he chose to play wrecked our thirty five years of love and company we shared. This song reminds me of what I lost. He took my soul with him. And the sad thing he does not even know. Michelle

@coolitababy I wonder what Bill Withers was thinking while writing this song. This is such a sensitive, well thoughout tune. I was in the 8th grade when this first hit the air in 75 and fell in love with it. I felt the words back then as I do now.

@zebop Dude, thank you for posting this tune. I used to have this back in the day. It was stolen from me when I moved into a new home with my parents. It've been looking for this album or tune since 1980. Now here it is thanks to you. I thank you once qgain for the fond memories through this song.
