Wishbone Ash - Rest In Peace Lyrics

Last night I had a dream
A vision in the dark,
I found that I had been across the desert space,
Saw all the people behind a naked face.

I held out my hand,
Hoping you'd be there.
I could not understand all the reasons why
Faces from the past looking me in the eye.

Now the light has come
Breaking form the east
Someday we can find somewhere
To rest in peace.

I lost my control,
In a nightmare of being
Just a lonely soul
Without a hanging cross,
Standing all alone
Watching the lightning flash.

  5. M.... ....

The weakest Wishbone album from the classic era still sounds aeons better than anything new today. Fact.

  6. A.... E....

I love this band more than life itself but, this song and album blow ass.

A Musical feast combined with a production nightmare! Tom Dowd just didn't get Wishbone Ash! WA produced New England themselves and to great effect! I visit this monstrosity once in a while and New England often! Their newest band lineup seems to have come into their own with Elegant Stealth and Blue Horizon! Both are well worth a peek!

Saw the new one Live a couple of years ago. They played Argus in its entirety. They nailed it ! Got to meet Andy and the band after the show . Autographs, chat and pictures. He was a real down to earth guy. I've loved them from day one. Argus is my All Time # 3 vinyl.

From 3:10 on listen to Laurie Wisefield " & "Andy Powell" play twin guitars that will blow your mind. If you think that "Wishbone Ash" was a just okay group then listen to "Live In Geneva" or "Nouveau Calls". You will not believe your ears.

Visions into ...a so stremendous vibrating time ...

  18. T.... ....

I saw them open for Robin Trower at the Garden in '76.I had a pocket full of hash and a cop at the top of the escalator grabbed me by the arm! I'm thinking "oh god,I'm going to jail!"Cop says: "Let me ask you something...who's this Robin Trower chick?" LMFAO!!!

    T.... ....

You should consider yourself very lucky seeing WA open for Robin Trower, I got to see John Miles opening for him at the B'rum Odeon.

    T.... ....

    haha, you lived!

    T.... ....

    who cares for fucking trower....

  19. M.... B....

Exceptional track from what is otherwise a poor album.

    M.... B....

its an awful album by Ash's standards . This can be further backed up by the fact they never played anything off this album in concerts.

    M.... B....

Yes, and I've read that the band themselves have a pretty dim view of it too.

    M.... B....

Just not true. WA most certainly did play tracks from locked in live. Rest in Peace & It Started in Heaven. check them both out on you tube, both songs live sound absolutely awesome.

    M.... B....

Maybe they shouldn't have played tracks off this dud on stage but they sure did, though none later than 1976: Rest In Peace, It Started In Heaven, Trust in You, Moonshine. And you know what: they of frigging course sound incomparably better as live vesions. Arrgh!

This is the song that introduced me to the Ash so many years ago. My buddy "Slink" said 'Hey man, listen to this". The hooks have been in deep ever since.

  21. d.... ....

i am a big Wishbone ash fan but this has got to be their worst album . Production is awful also.

    d.... ....

Not one of their best but, personally speaking, I enjoyed hearing a different side to them. In response to a post below, I agree that the influence of LW is palpable.

Great piece. And peace to rest was exactly what I had then sought back in 1977, when I was about 10 years old, when home wasn't exactly the place I'd likely find it - much to my feuding parents, much of it from my wife-beating father (god rest is soul now), whom from I got to know Wishbone Ash and this song. Each time a squabble begins, I'd grab my guitar & leave, knowing what it will inevitably escalates to. Those were the days. To now, at 50, find this song on YouTube, brings back such shuddering memories of the 70s. When Peace of the domestic kind was in tatters, and rest a precious luxury.

    C.... J....

+C J Goh  Sorry that your childhood was so rough.  I wasn't even born yet in the 70's and I tend to think of it as a happy time based on the music (my goodness 70's music is so good to me!) and it sucks that your time back then wasn't very good. :(

    C.... J....

+surething baby  and uh, sorry for saying good so many times, haha!  I'm in one of my late night don't want to sleep moods (even though I should be sleeping, lol).

  24. J.... G....

This album bring me memories of great times and a great girl. Yes one of their weakest, which is still better than most. Andy rocks!

  25. B.... L....

Well,... generally considered as a weak Ash album, I'm inclined to agree after hearing this album fully for the first time ever. Though, a couple of good numbers. I don't like when they sound funky, reminds a bit of Little Feat sometimes. Thanks for loading anyway.

    B.... L....

They (WA) would say the same thing.  They cranked this out to fulfill a contractual obligation with MCA so they could end it with them.  I agree it's not too bad and it is still Wishbone Ash, after all. I haven't listened to the entire album is years and yeaqs

    B.... L....

I wonder how much of that was Laurie's influence. After listening to his guitar work with Home, I could see that as a tiny deviation which would've seemed fresh.

    B.... L....

A bit if a slow burn, I wasn't too keen on it when it was first released but it has certainly grown on me big time since.

muy buen disco ce hard rock!!!very very great band!!
