a lot of bands claim to have invented the twin lead guitar sound but it was Wishbone Ash and Ted Turner & Andy Powell who actually did it, they were the first.

The first lead guitar twins in rock were probably Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page in the Yardbirds, back in 1966.
Other twin lead guitar bands debuted later, like The Allman Brothers (1969), Wishbone Ash (1970), Thin Lizzy (1971), Judas Priest (1974) etc.
Thin Lizzy was songwise a poor band - nothing special, Yardbirds twin leads? - give me a break. Judas Priest: heavy metal shit! Leaves us with Allmans and Wishbone Ash.
