Winwood, Steve - While You See A Chance Lyrics
Stand up in a clear blue morning
Until you see what can be
Alone in a cold day dawning
Are you still free
Can you be
When some cold tomorrow finds you
When some sad old dream reminds you
How the endless road unwinds you
While you see a chance take it
Find romance, fake it
Because it's all on you
Don't you know by now
No one gives you anything
Don't you wonder how you keep on moving
Your way
Ooooooooh, your way
[Instrumental Interlude]
When there's no one left to leave you
Even you don't quite believe you
That's when nothing can deceive you
While you see a chance take it
Find romance, fake it
Because it's all on you
Stand up in a clear blue morning
Until you see
What can be
Alone in a cold day dawning
Are you still free
Can you be
[Instrumental Interlude]
And that old gray wind is blowing
And there's nothing left worth knowing
And it's time you should be going
While you see a chance take it
Find romance
While you see a chance take it
Find romance
While you see a chance take it
Find romance
While you see a chance take it
Find romance
While you see a chance take it
Find romance

I used to drive up to Athens, Georgia from Gainesville Florida n the 80s to meet my future wife in my red car driving too fast. This song made the memory lifelng every time I hear it. Free and innocent!

A real early video. Even then, my God, what a superstar.
Supersong, i like it
This song and video should have well over 100 million views. Do people not understand the mastery and musical talent of Steve Winwood?
** CLASSIC **
Classic great song. SW had major talent. Simple lyrics but meaningful, where’s that in 2019? Nowhere.
That pyramid however looks way to easy to climb, even in Lycra jumpsuits.
This song that he wrote seems pretty good
After a terible divorce at a young age THIS song started a new day for me everyday. Thxs
❤️🌺❤️ My Love!!
*While You See A Chance...* Just saw the Illuminati pyramid at the song's beginning (0:00-0:25)
Great song for a past great friend that l miss.
Yes ....this song most reminds me of my first visit to the US with our high school band in the early 80's
My dad says this song used to be played at Texas Rangers games whenever the Rangers were about to strike somebody out!
Muitos linda essa música ..😇😇
Congratulations Winwood...
this masterpiece pleasantly shakes one's nerves.
Video scandalously masonic
This song is really positive and uplifting... but can we just talk about the visuals for a minute??? Steve, really, you're so oblivious to these weird shining aliens and theyre going to take over that pyramid.
Bro Jim I love you & most of all I love that Andrea found you. I sang this song2 you cause I wanted you2 find that missing piece
Stay that unmovable force
Hollywood o sucesso!!!
This video does this genius of a song no justice Steve looks like a waxwork dummy going thru the motions. For me it did nothing to promote such an epic song, I always go to the alternative audio original video, so much more natural Steve, I suggest you do too
John Parise....love my country......forget the BS....Paid my dues....

*THIS GUY DID NOT MISS HIS CALLING... ONE OF THE
BEST OF THE VERY BEST*
Awesome!.. on RADIO in NZ in 2019 👍🙂
when we we're young
The pre-mullet years. He looked clean and young.
I recall this song playing on my car radio when some friends and I were returning home from some rock concert at Kemper Arena in Kansas City in the early 80's. The best rock music was in the 70's and '80's. Sadly, pop music is ruined by this rap and hip hop, which is nothing but crap. And don't tell me that it is artistic expression.
It's been ruined by a "rap/hip hop world, that needs to be dynamited into oblivion!" I read that post for the Seed's, "Pushin' to Hard"...lol
AIR FORCE NAME TAG DANCED TO THIS SONG A MONTH PRIOR TO GETTING HURT BY A DRUNK DRIVER HE NO LONGER CAN WALK OR DANCE EVERYTIME HE HEARS THIS SONG HE DOES GET SENTIMENTAL ABOUT THE DAYS HE COULD MARCH IN PARADES
There were these three brothers that used to fight my cousins and I. It was over the possession of a tree house we had built that they seemed obsessed with taking over. We enlisted a neighborhood friend, Jimmy, to help us and armed with pine cones, pecans, rocks and anything else we could find to throw at them we would repel their breaches into our beloved fortress. Of course, they built what they referred to as “the deathmobile” (a stolen shopping cart with the basket turned around) and with a brother inside the basket firing bottle rockets one pushing the deathmobile and a third trying to climb our ladder, they nearly had us. Cowed by their missile system, nervous about the retribution that the oldest and largest brother-James- would visit on us for the multiple rocks to the head he had taken, all seemed lost. Jimmy, without another word and under heavy bottle rocket fire leaped of the roof of our treehouse and using the rope we had attached to a lower limb, swung feet first into Ric-Ric(pusher of the deathmobile). I saw two hands splay out behind Timmy John (brother in the basket and bottle rocket shooter) as if he were some mythological beast laid low by a hero of yore. James jumped down and grabbed Timmy John and half dragged half carried him away as if this was all some appointed task they need fullfill. Ric-ric, forgotten and abandoned to our mercies had to endure some taunts and then some pine cones once he extracted himself and followed after.
The deathmobile sat mute and still.
I remember Jimmy went and sat on top of it. I remember thinking even as a boy of 10 this all had the feel of some ancient ritual we had all reenacted as so many before us.
And across the street a car stopped at the quiet intersection of the small town I was born in. The one I would move away from at the end of that summer and never see any of again for many years. What came to me in that brief few seconds, drifting over time and space was this: “when some cold tomorrow finds you... when some old sad old dream reminds you... how the endle-“
Then gone.
When I hear this song. I think of victory, childhood and the good friends I shared it with.
2 thumbs up!
Aliens like Steve Winwood.
Back at my flat in Moscow I literally memorized tens of thousands of videos as a DJ and private VJ...this is one of my all time favorites...
Anyone still listening to this in 2073?

So Many memories
Vocally Amazing Thank You Mr Winwood For This Great Memory.
I wonder how much they paid Spiderman to make a cameo? Lmao
The vid is something you would get if you gave the Blue Man Group lobotomies.
God awful video, Lovely song
Música linda e homem lindo o vocalista também
Lmao this video tho
i had this song in my head for like 3 years before i finally found it. It used to play all the time on the radio when i was a kid in the 80s and early 90s and then i never heard it again. For some reason i started to hum it and could never get it out of my head. I only ended up finding it because of the track "call on me" which sampled Valerie, and immediately recognized his voice which then led me to this song. The relief of finding it can't be explained. Thank god the song is as great as i remember.
Takes me back to my childhood in the early eighties. The best of times..
This was really good.
Special time in my life so young.
I remember the radio.
That was a time when videos often showed singers playing an instrument, most often keyboards - because mind you, many singers used to play an instrument back then. Also believe it or not, some of them also wrote their own material. Incredible.
Still awesome in 2019
I have'nt heard this in a long time. Just replayed 12 times. My teens were amazing !!
This song helped me make one of the biggest decisions in my life. And, it paid off. Thanks you Steve Winwood.
But I don't want a chance...
That is the thing!!!...
It's over!!!
Bye bye bye
The album Arc Of A Diver was released on 31st December 1980.
I remember playing this while I was on my way to Edwards Air Force Base to watch the space shuttle Columbia land for the first time on April 14, 1981. I was almost 17. Great memories!
So nostalic <3
When there's no one left to leave you
Even you don't quite believe you...
Absolutely brilliant lyric.
I had this video on a while ago (min) in a another tab but got distracted, left to surf another tab about the illuminati and conspiracy theories... then came back, hit play and suddenly noticed how effin weird the imagery was? weird people flashing lights at you and climbing pyramids? wat? strange...
I adore this man n every song he sings💓 he is a musical treasure.....
Una donna a Trieste ,che ricordo stupendo.
I cared....a time when people cared !
I bought Arc of a Diver because I liked the cover lol. I played the s*** out of that album. Arc is best song in it
Fantastic voice etc. But the lyrics do it for me - uplifting and positive. Great artist.
Ride the waves of life.... 🌊 🌈
Musician over 50 years. Heres one of my favorite albums of all time
It's like you can do anything! The possibilities are endless.
The 80's were a funny time. Rock was floundering for a way forward. Windwood, as always, was the way forward, though he had to appear to step sideways a bit.
Quite Illuminati, isn't it?
The choreography was just stunning!
That's me in that video... the one in the black spandex. I remember hearing my dad tell the crew, "That's my son right there!"... he then blurted out a loud "I LOVE YOU SON... I'M PROUD OF YOU!!!" LOL
