Winwood, Steve - The Morning Side Lyrics

You meet every kind of person moving toward the morning side
You see the good and the bad, the eyes are sad
You play every midnight gambler before you see the light
On the morning side, the morning side

You feel every heat and passion moving towards the morning side

To earn one more second chance, you learn the dance
When you finally climb the mountain, you see the other side
It's the morning side, the morning side

Now my life has changed and now my eyes can see
Now I'm living on the morning side
Now I'm letting all the sunlight into me
Now I'm free

And I know I'll never pass that way again
That dark journey to the morning side
On the morning side I feel my life begin
Let's begin

Listened to this song while walking around "Sweetheart Circle" of Ga Southern College in Aug, 1988 while I was finishing up my last finals. It was an awesome evening. I can still see it in my mind. I so want to go back........

I listened to this song after I got divorced. It put things in perspective and helped me realize the game of life.

    F.... T....

+Melissa Showalter me too. its works

  22. S.... C....

The most underrated song from this album. The entire album is fantastic, btw, coming from an era of great music (1986-1989). Still remember walking around downtown NYC as a 16 year old, listening to this after breaking up with my first girlfriend.
Probably wore out the rewind button on my Walkman... something about the lyrics and the melody always evoked feelings of both hope and sadness; I guess they still do.

  25. B.... B....

Reminds me of working midnight shift, cruising about the streets of the city.

    B.... B....

Brad Barfield same here waiting on the morningside

  26. l.... ....

There's a mistake on most lyrics sites for this song. Neil Diamond performed this but did NOT write this - the lyrics are by Lee Jennings and the musical arrangements by Jennings and Steve Winwood. Enjoy. I sure do.

  27. F.... L....

Listened to this for the first time since I picked up the cassette tape back when it came out! Still as amazing as the first time I listened - best song on the album!

  28. l.... ....

How this never was released as a single is beyond me. It defines Steve's talent and depth better than most of the singles in his body of work. I pray there's one more album left in him with a track as deep and meaningful as this one.

  29. J.... B....

Steve is like a brother to me; in fact he looks like my older brother. Steve has been through the pain of my divorce; and helped me through. Anytime I feel like the world is crashing down on me; I listen to Steve.

  30. d.... ....

    One of Steve's best!

  31. C.... ....

Could listen to this all weekend and it would never get old
