Winwood, Steve - Put On Your Dancing Shoes Lyrics

So much going on out there, leaves us hanging in the air
And it's all that we can do to face each day and see it though
Life's a dance, put on your dancing shoes, take a chance

You can't shut your eyes to pain, faces crying in the rain
You can't keep it all inside, you need some way to let it ride
Life's a dance, put on your dancing shoes, take a chance

When you're all over, when you know you've done all that you can do
Put on your dancing shoes, it'll see you through

Voices shouting in the street, life lived to a ragged beat
Someone's world is tumbling down, and who's the saint and where's the clown?
Life's a dance, put on your dancing shoes, take a chance

When you're all over, when you know you've done all that you can do
Put on your dancing shoes, it'll see you through
When time is flying, when you know there's no end to these modern blues
Put on your dancing shoes, it'll see you through

The drummers from the 1986 and 1988 albums are formidable, from the other worlds.

This has always been one of my favourite songs off of Steve Winwood's 1988 album "Roll With It". I think that it is the beat of this particular song which makes this song so addictive every time I play it on my 33 1/3 album version of "Roll With It" (as this song finished out Side 1 of "Roll With It").

I just know that I liked to listen to this song all the time, especially more in the day when I purchased "Roll With It" back on Saturday, July 30, 1988 (at the old A&A Records store located at 2822 Eglinton Avenue East in my hometown of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada). As a matter of fact, I still remember the thunderstorm we had in Toronto earlier that same day (for I worked as a Wading Pool Guard over at Knob Hill Park in Scarborough that particular summer).

[For those of you who live outside of Canada, A&A Records was a record chain that used to exist in Canada (before it went bankrupt in 1992). In fact, I always remember the iconic flagship A&A Records store that used to exist at 351 Yonge Street in downtown Toronto (where the Ryerson University Student Learning Centre now currently stands).]

And, I will just close by remarking I wonder if a certain Amanda Lofland (Denver Broncos Cheerleader from 2008 to 2010; and 2012) has ever heard of this particular Steve Winwood song or not. If there is one thing that I can say to her, I guess that we both have a passion for dancing. [Little does Amanda herself realize that my fellow co-workers at CIBC (where I worked at the time) were calling me "The Dancer" (as a result of a Halloween party celebration that we had back on Wednesday, October 25, 2006) in the days afterwards.]

[By the way, Amanda Lofland's Twitter handle is "AmandaLofland_" (tell Amanda on Twitter that David Hood in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada sent you).]

You nailed it Suzy. Criminally under rated. His music, lyrics, presentation all way past sophisticated. This is the stuff you listen to when you want hear serious music.
