Wings - Cook Of The House Lyrics

Ground rice, sugar, vinegar, seco salt, macaroni too,
Cook of the house,
I'm the cook of the house.

No matter where I serve my guests,
They seem to like the kitchen best 'cause I'm the cook of the house,
Cook of the house.

The salad's in the bowl,
The rice is on the stove.
Green beans in the colander and where the res is heaven only knows.

Cinnamon, garlic, salt, pepper, corn-bread, curry powder, coffee too,
Cook of the house,
I'm the cook of the house.

No, matter where I serve my guests,
They seem to like the kitchen best.
'cause I'm the cook of the house,
Cook of the house.

Where the rest is heaven only knows.

Matter where I serve my guests,
They seem to like the kitchen best 'cause I'm the cook of the house.
Cook of the house,
Cook of the house,
I'm the cook of the house.

Wings Cook Of The House Comments
  1. J.... M....

OH YOU ROCKY HIP CAT....COME ON!

  2. M.... B....

I can perfectly imagine Linda saying to Paul "hey, I wrote this song and I was wandering if you like it", and after reading the lyrics Paul just goes "oh sweetie, you're much more than the cook of the house!" and hugs her ❤️

  3. J.... R....

Linda was so underrated in singing...There's a Live version of 'Seaside Woman'. on youtube...Check it out

  4. R.... B....

    Take it fellas

  5. R.... B....

    Yoko is basaaaad my friends

  6. a.... ....

Linda was such a beautiful woman, Paul will never be able to replace her.

  7. M.... I....

    RIP LINDA.

  8. H.... D....

    Love it, so underrated 👍

  9. y.... ....

Just played this for my kid as she was cooking for the family. Got nice smiles from all.

  10. G.... ....

Awful song and badly sung by Linda. "At the Speed of Sound" got enough of a pasting by critics, and Paul didn't help with the by putting it on the album, gives the "self indulgent" tag on Paul more validity. Was OK for a B side of a single but an album track? Yikes...

  11. J.... W....

    Cool Song Love Linda

  12. j.... j....

Linda rally wasn't as bad a singer as many made her out to be. No, this isn't great and yes she no Grace Slick, but I would take this over Yoko One any day!

  13. B.... ....

Linda is s better singer than Yoko

  14. s.... a....

have a coca-cola with eachother when we have some breakfast

  15. A.... B....

Años sin escuchar está rola súper chingona . Linda E P D

  16. T.... ....

    My ears! Fuuuuuuuuuuucccccckkkkk

  17. D.... P....

I love this song by Linda McCartney I think it's cute and no matter what anybody else says I think she has good vocals rest in peace

  18. K.... ....

I think this is more of a testament of how much Paul loved Linda, not how good of a singer she was going to be. Yeah, I think this may be a weaker track but think of what John was doing at this time; this is refreshing. Paul really loved Linda immensely, I think we got a lot of good music from his relationship with her.

  19. L.... C....

Written in Adelaide, South Australia I believe, during Wings 1976 world tour? Another great moment for Adelaide in Beatles/McCartney history! It's where I saw Paul and Linda play in 1993 as well, at the Adelaide Oval, election night. Gutted they didn't play this song or Ode To A Koala Bear...maybe next time you pass through Paul?

  20. C.... B....

She should have made a whole album full of her tunes. I would have bought it. ( sarcasm). I know she has passed, i shouldn't have wrote that. Please forgive.

  21. K.... L....

    Great !

  22. G.... ....

    I subbed
    Sub to me please📣📣📣

  23. T.... S....

Maybe the worst thing Wings ever recorded, and that's saying something.

    T.... S....

She sounds like a pretty decent singer.

  24. M.... ....

this is an amazing album no matter what

  25. N.... S....

Honesty, I don't see why everyone hates her singing. Her voice would've fit right in once New Wave happened.

  26. R.... S....

That was my mother's favorite song on this album when I had it. She would always ask me to play this song

  27. d.... ....

I was so disappointed when I saw Paul, Linda and band live in '93 at the MCG that they didn't do this. No wonder there was a rumour going around that Linda threatened to leave Wings and join Steely Dan unless Paul gave her more songs.

    d.... ....

....What? That Steely Dan thing was made up for a fictional novel (called "Paperback Writer").

  28. J.... S....

This is easily the worst song of all time

  29. G.... A....

This isn't that bad. Kinda cute

  30. M.... ....

Hey c'mon, the song's not THAT bad. :D At the very least, this gave McCartney something to use for B-side material on his Silly Love Songs single.

    M.... ....

It's a dig at "John Lennon" ...or whoever played the role around this time, because he had become a stay at home dad for Yoko, and commented on his enjoyment doing laundry and cooking for his family.

  31. g.... ....

Great song.  Her voice fits perfectly in a song custom made for her.

  32. G.... R....

This isn't bad like everyone is making it out to be.

    G.... R....

It is a catchy tune. Linda is charming.

  33. S.... B....

back when it was exciting to hear what was on the "b" side. this was on the flip side of one of the top 3 biggest hits of the year "silly love songs" featured here is "cook of the house" paul mc cartney & wings...lil bro

  34. p.... c....

R.I.P Linda, allways missed ,never forgotten.

  35. T.... P....

Paul wanted Wings to be like the Beatles everyone sings on the LP....nobody perfect but its a cute song for a wifey to sing

  36. E.... k....

This is a very celebratory album/cd and this song is warm and cozy like cooking with your friends and family! Nice song to sing in the kitchen! The lovely Linda!

  37. s.... ....

Paul sounded like he was having a ball at the beginning.

    s.... ....

And maybe dinner at the ending?

  38. L.... D....

    And some special Brownies ?

  39. S.... ....

Oh man this totally blows.....well I guess it proves that PM is human. At least Linda can sing better than Yoko. But I guess that is just grasping at straws....

    S.... ....

"Hi, I created this count specifically to badmouth a deceased person!"

  40. F.... T....

Linda isn't the best singer in the world.  That is true.  But for those who rag on her, Just know that I  have heard much, much worse.  For example,  Roseanne Barr singing The National Anthem.  She was horrendous!!!

  41. M.... T....

I remember downloading Wings at the Speed of Sound and feeling apprehensive about Cook of the House as I had read that Linda wasn't much of a singer, but I have to say, while she's not the best singer, she sounds better than I expected. A 'like' from me.

  42. J.... O....

Like Chrissie Hynde - sexy & filled with attitude.

    RIP Linda.

    J.... O....

She does kind of sound like Chrissie here, doesn't she!?

  43. M.... D....

I like that! Nowhere near as shit as I was led to believe.

  44. p.... b....

Love Linda's Vocals God Bless Linda xx

  45. 3.... ....

A better food-enumeration song is "Savoy Truffle" by the Beatles!

  46. a.... ....

    Cool jam!

  47. N.... L....

Worst. Fucking. Song. Ever. Done. By. Wings.

    N.... L....

@Nic Lawson Lyrics are pretty idiotic to say nothing of the music. With all the great music on this album, this just didn't belong at all.

  48. P.... A....

I can just see John and Yoko making retching motions and sound when they heard this. Of course, I do those things when I accidentally hear Yoko shrieking. :D

  49. P.... A....

    My God, this is horrible.

  50. e.... ....

First time I have heard this and I quite like it

  51. B.... B....

I love this song, Linda is very good to have started in her thirties! I wish people would give this song a chance!

  52. o.... ....

    Love this song!

  53. J.... G....

Big fan of Linda and Paul, but this is abject.

  54. A.... M....

    Total good song R.I.P. Linda

  55. e.... ....

Cool song and Linda does a great job!!!!!

  56. R.... D....

She has a perfect voice for this song.

  57. J.... D....

cooking Xmas dinner suddenly brought this song in my mind !
wow haven't heard it in like 30 years !!
    Thank you ♥

  58. b.... ....

I own this album and actually enjoy this song. It is fun.

  59. b.... ....

its still hard to believe that linda is no longer with us...

  60. K.... B....

    I Lovvvvvvvvve Salads!

  61. F.... ....

The frying makes me so hungry.

  62. M.... ....

Great song! So she's making brown rice, macaroni, salad, rice and green beans....sounds good, but I'd prefer a steak! LOL! Naw, just playing...I know the McCartneys were vegetarians, and I assume Paul still is now(?) So much of the Wings stuff was underrated by some critics because of the long shadow The Beatles cast, but now most of it sounds awesome, especially London Town and Back to the Egg, both of which I particularly like. :-)

  63. J.... R....

I really want to like this!... I love Linda and every Beatle-esque thing so much...hm, I'll have to play it again. :)
    <3.

  64. P.... R....

I love Linda's vocals. See my other channel (Promosounds) for Linda uploads.

  65. o.... ....

This is just a darn cute song. I always liked it. :) Great album, too.

  66. n.... ....

If it's true what people say that Linda was a bad singer she must have taken some vocal lessons because she sounds great here.

  67. s.... ....

For some reason, people rag on Linda and say "she can't sing", but this was probably my second favourite song on this album ("Let 'em In" was my fave). I think she can sing quite well, plus she was QUITE talented in many ways, and (this is genetics) she WAS quite attractive in a rather timeless way...

    s.... ....

Linda seems like she was the real deal. I can very much see why Paul was so in love with her. She had such a joyful, nonchalant vibe to her. Good person, most likely. She lived her life well judging by how much Paul still loves her and how beautiful their children have turned out to be as people. Rock on, Linda.

  68. t.... ....

Thanks for posting this... This is one of my favorite songs by the Wings...and noone seems to know it... so I'm sharing it! :) & Yes, I've always been the cook of the house!

  69. M.... ....

Linda clearly had improved her singing over the years. At the beginning of Paul´s solo career she wasn´t good at it but this is good.
