Wilson, Jonathan - Desert Raven Lyrics
Fuzzy white haze in the asphalt was a lake
And the sand it was a grayish shade of blue
Spirits held desire
While my eyes they did admire
The evening that we only thought we knew
Further out to see
I heard the birds wings over me
The vibrations in the air through my ears
The sun was rising slinking low
The day was saddled up to go
The desert's lonely nightfall disappear
The raven who flies through the desert sky
Is wiser than you or me
The birds have a peace
And the desert raven he has poetry
Close your eyes and fly to let the diamonds make the night
Crystal blue will turn to ruby red
The plants become a maze under the heavens stary hazel
Pegasus he gallops over head
The buffalo at night they follow close the river's edge while
Saffron slowly grows inside the cage
The starry minds of hyacinth the moon below the sun's eclipse
The sandy canyon floats beyond the wave
The raven who flies through the desert sky
Is wiser than you or me
The birds have a peace
The stillness a sleeve
And the desert raven he has poetry

Merci "Sol FM" !
OooH #JonathanWilson,, sweetness sways my soul with this GEM☄️
This song is going to be playing at the pinnacle moment of my life, Sandy beaches, surfable waves, a cool water on the table, I’m about 40 and I don’t need money, memory’s of my life sweep through my head. This song will be playing.
Après plusieurs mois d'écoute toujours un plaisir de planer sur ce morceau.
Is he Norman Fucking Rockwell? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Saw this on a vid called Ivy by nobody surf, it’s so nice
Fuzzy white haze in the asphalt was a lake and
The sand it was a grayish shade of blue
Spirits held desire while our eyes they did admire
The evening that we only thought we knew
Further out to see I've heard the birds wings over me, the
Vibrations in the air through my ears
The sun was rising slinking low, the day was saddled up to go
The desert's lonely nightfall disappear
The raven who flies through the desert skies
Is wiser than you or me
The birds have a peace, the stillness asleep
And the desert raven, he has poetry
Close your eyes and fly to let the diamonds make the night
Crystal blue will turn to ruby red
The plants become a maze under the heaven's stary hazel
Pegasus he gallops overhead
Buffalo at night they follow close the river's edge while
Saffron slowly grows inside the caves
The starry minds of hyacinth, the moon below the sun's eclipse
The sandy canyon floats beyond the waves
The raven who flies through the desert sky
Is wiser than you or me
The birds have a peace, the stillness asleep
And the desert raven, he has poetry
Found it after 7 years
Incredible talent.
The new rocknroll legend.
Any colour you like _ Pink Floyd
Outstanding piece of work. Parts of his vocals sound a bit like Dusty Springfield.
Someone else linked Carlos Castaneda to this song?
Saw them open for Tom Petty in Germany. Such a great concert, both bands.
i can imagine a surfing edit with this song
He took melody from this song Riblja Corba - Lupa Bubanj Zveci Zvecka 1988...anyway,it sounds smooth
Very similar to 'California Silks and Satins' by Man. And that's not a bad thing.

Oh I love this song so much.
Canciones del alma...para el alma! gracias por compartirlas al mundo!!!
There's two things I like: boobs, music, chocolate and drugs that make me forget the meaning of the word 2. This song is better than all that.

absolutely beautiful tune. that guitar line is perfect. powerful stuff
I read the comments, you talk about pink floyd, but you fall on the head, tell me about Barclay James Harvest, yes I agree. Good their last album surprises me but the album "gentle spirit" is great

I smell hippies.
I smell a large influence from the band America in this song.

Very Steeeler's Wheel-ish - diggin' it!
Great, down to earth, honest music!
Heard this on WNCW, best radio station on the planet!
Anybody know the actual lyrics to this masterpiece? All lyrics I can find online aren't right.

Lady gaga brought me here I love this song
Spent hours trying to find out what this track was. First heard it at end credits of "Close Encounters Tasmanian Devil" with Ray Mears. Was driving me nuts. Eventually found it thro. Lyrics.com.
Gaga: five foot two brougthme here. Superb
Lady Gaga's Five Foot Two documentary brought me here! Amazing voice! Love the soul!
Me too! Had to sound hound it.. sounds so beautiful
which part of the documentary brings you here? curious?
@OBX Home ^seconded
Desert Raven is in the soundtrack around 28 mins for a brief time, then again in the background- so impactful I became a Jonathan Wilson fanatic. Weirdly, but thankfully, heard it on Gaga's flick, because I'm not usually a pop fan!
Absolutely timeless
This could have been released any time between 1966 and today
Loving the whole laurel canyon vibe of this, it's just gorgeous...
vine aquí por "Five Foot Two"... he leído varios comentarios y les suena a Pink Floyd... a mi en lo personal me suena The Allman Brothers Band... Melissa con un toque genial de Jessica... los 70 años inolvidables del Rock.
This song began playing on the NPR station while my son screamed in his car seat. He suddenly stopped crying, then began to cry again when it ended. So I took note of this but dismissed it as a fluke. Since then when we drive (he hates being in the car seat) I play it on repeat and he will stay calm. When I stop playing it he freaks out again. So, who cares what I think of this song? My 15 week old apparently loves it!! Thank you!!
First 0:54 seconds is irrelevant (CUT!), indicative of a drug problem, annoying, unnecessary, and maybe stop trying to be trippy Kanye West white guy or whatever, but rest of song good
@Tav Taverner Lol ... what. Dude is playing a synth.
@Tav Taverner You have some ignorance problems, don't you?
why this is not on Spotify anymore? so sad :(

I held the rose wings over me
Vibrations in the air turn my ears
The sun was rising
The day was saddled up to go
The desert is a lonely night for disappear
The rain in flowers through the desert sky
Is wiser then you and me
The birds now go east
But still miss a sleep
And the desert raven he has palm trees
Close your eyes and fly away
Let the diamonds make the light
Crystal blue will turn your ruby red
Pas with I'm amazing with a heaven story hazel
Ever since it galloped over head
Buffalo at night they follow close the river's edge while
Saffron slowly grows inside the cage
The star reminds of how you sit
At home alone in the suns eclipse
The sandy canyon flows beyond the wave
The rain in flowers through the desert sky
Is wiser then you and me
The birds now go east
But still miss a sleep
And the desert raven he has palm trees

Say Wut?
Too bad they kept that intro, rest of the song is pretty catchy
John Whitlock What are you saying, the intro is excellent... It adds so much mystery to the song
John Whitlock or at least dropping it once more in the piece. YUP
Never get tired of this.
wow, this intro is very floyd! lana del rey go out with him, so i came check how he sounds like! totally great!
this is one of the 5 best songs I have ever listened... so many emotions...
What was cut out from album version? The intro is as long as the album version, so was a verse cut?
makes me want to slow dance in the middle of a lonely road

WTF intro I dont like you
Me recuerda mucho esta canción a los primeros años de Pink Floyd, entre otros,se nota que este gran músico bebió de muchas y buenas fuentes,GRANDE!
shortest 6 min of my life thats for sure ..
DOPE ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The sound is incredible. What an atmosphere, how delightful is it for my ears.
I can't believe we have this in this day and age. Classic and fresh at the same time. My god.
reminds me of Lady Eleanor by Lindesfarne
+masterbaker1 It shure has strong a resemblence - however this song has a lot stronger guitar licks. Fantastic production!
Just some constructive criticism. Love the tune, but the first 0:53 seconds or so is a waste of sonic space and is going to turn people off, who might otherwise listen to the rest of the track - which is brilliant. What the hell? Is this Logan's Run or some weird ass sci fi thing or, uh...a song? Please CUT OUT that first 53 seconds or so and you'll gain a lot more fans. It's irrelevant.
thats like saying Pink Floyd should cut out their wierd intros. Fair enough tho and appreciate your opinion :)
Tav Taverner maybe irrelevant to you. But other people find it entrancing and captivating. The quiet sonic sound in the beginning is a good build up to how Jonathan wanted this song to sound. But, that's also just my perception.
I first heard this track in Lovestruckk's Robot Heart mix a couple months back. The intro you contest allowed the song to be incorporated into a deep house mix. In that instance, it was a brilliant deviation from an otherwise 4-to-the-floor house and techno set. From a DJ perspective, the intro is a blessing. However, I get what you mean. This is why promo copies and singles often include radio edits. I had a similar initial reaction and believe a radio edit could really help propel this track from it's relative fringe standing to a broader audience.
EDIT: Apparently such a thing exists.
https://www.discogs.com/Jonathan-Wilson-Desert-Raven/release/3436557
By that logic, pink floyd would of never made it, considering how many weird intros they got. I believe whoever seeks music as this song, will love the intro and the mysticism is provides, almost kind of discomfort like feeling and then suddenly the sweetest guitar riff you heard lately.. Eventually it feels like that moment when ur done with something that makes u feel discomfort and then suddenly the moments of joy when its all over.. all part of the tune, love it!
as an artist, what you think and state is irrevelent........ a tune grows out of somewhere you were not. fuck your "constructive criticism" ---- Hey Jonathan, ya think ya coukld cut out the first 53 seconds? this guy doesn't like it....... oh yeah sure ....... let me make some changes to MY tune just for this idiot.
Very similar to Neil Young.
Pink Floyd meets Neil Young.
i think neil young is very similar to jonathan wilson
Yeah..very similar..except this guy can sing and he can play more than two chords...oh yeah and he has talent
this is prolly the best song i have heard in a very long time...HOOOOOLY SHIT!!!!
+Clayton land the same opinion here... can listen to this constantly :P eargasm
lovely....relaxing
the intro is very similar to (Schindleria Praematurus)" song by Yes.
I love it though
yazan3bsi yes! Thank you!! I was scratching my head forever trying to figure out what this reminded me of! You are absolutely right.
Beautiful!
39 kişi ferhat göçer ve doktor arkadaşları.
It sounds a lot like Yes - The fish, from fragile album... but still amazing!
@Petitehand This song guitar melody is nearly the same has the one in The fish from Yes. I never said JW in general sounds like Yes... But he does have some prog rock influence.
+Uso Indevido You're tripping.
+Uso Indevido I get you now. Maybe you were trying to say that the main riff sounds like a riff used in 30 seconds of a 10 minute Yes song.
+Uso Indevido id never heard that song before but i listened to it , the riff is a carbon copy i would say
@cormac sweeney But Im glad Wilson did this song. Yes- The fish is more like an intro. Wilson turned that small song into a proper thing.
New to this... beautiful! Why the annoying first minute?
