Wilson, Brian - What Ever Happened Lyrics
As the time goes by
And I wonder why
When I know the day is through
The summer wine
The night that I met you
Somewhere in between
These things I've seen
I have somehow lost my way
The starry nights
The harbor lights
The moon across the bay
Nothing's where it used to be
What ever happened
What's gonna happen to me
When I wake up in the morning
If I see that you're not there
II you're away I'll be OK
I know that you still care
What ever happened to my favorite places
Nothing's where it used to be
What ever happened
What's gonna happen to me
What ever happened to yesterday morning
My dream came true
These memories
The summer breeze
That brings me back to you

Wilson, Brian What Ever Happened Comments
This song is beyond beautiful. Maybe my favorite of his solo songs.
As the time goes by

I have somehow lost my way

Bri , Feliz Navidad 2019
This is a flat-out masterpiece, & only Brian Wilson could have done it. --------------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
77 years old still going strong. u go boy.
imagine if this song had come out in 1976 when Brian was making his first comeback. People would've flipped.
In 2019, we need BW's music, more than ever. -------------Carl Wilson, we miss you. ---------------------WolfSky9
Whatever happened to yesterday morning? My dream came true.
Man I wish Dennis and Carl were singing on this one.
Definitely my favourite from this album.
The only person to near the emotions and experiences Brian had was Rod McKuen. LISTEN TO THE WARM! Try that one or RM A CAT NAMED SLOOPY
After a horrifying week in our nation's history, I turn to BW's music. -----------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
I think you are a fan WolfSky9. So am I, since they started and can't get enough of Brian's sounds. He writes such wonderful music
Gorgeous. ----------------------WolfSky9
Musical/harmony & arrangement perfection...
I am taken by THE ISLAND. I am stunned by the compliment of Zooey's voice to Brian's. Then again, Brian has amazed me since SURFIN' Genius falls about 1 km short of describing him or his talent. So many musicians have used that term to describe him. I don't think there has been another artist to achieve THAT much respect from REAL musicians historically. I agree the world is a far better place since his arrival. Mike should be faulted for stealing the title THE BEACH BOYS from Brian. There would never have been a "Beach Boys" if not for Brian, would there? Naaaah, I don't think so. Paul McCartney even said Pet Sounds was the best he'd ever heard.
Yep, Brian will some day be honored with his own postal stamp!
Cool sounds
Still love your music!
Wow!! Talk about ear candy! Great job Brian!!😄
I been sitting around this evening listen to a lot songs. i couldn't cut this thing off without. listen to brian Wilson.
Brian Wilson been around a long time and just keep getting better and better
this is an beautiful and an outstanding masterpiece of music.Brian rocks it again!!
!
This song is worthy of " Pet Sounds" or " Sunflower". ----------------WolfSky9
Brian, you are a national treasure. Thank-you for all you've given us. --------------WolfSky9
probably the best song on the album. Also how lovely is Al Jardine
Brian Wilson is better than ever , as the good wine , congratulations
After two years of the release...i just can't stop hear this album, specially this f****ckin beautiful song!!!!
Brian says "It's all about the harmonies". He's right.
Nice to know "America's Band" is still churning out hits.
How badly we need this in 2017 ! ----------Wolfsky9
Now my favourite track on this album.
I love hearing Brian and Al together.
this is a really nice tune.....check it out
Brings Tears to my eyes but I cry a lot at beautiful things these days,,,,moving thru my 7th decade................
To Radar Blip : As I head into my 7th decade, all I know is how much I've lost--the music helps me smile again, thankfully. -------------Wolfsky9, 69 y/o
To " Radar Blip" : As I too am in my 7th decade, the music moves me more than ever. Mortality is staring us in the face. How could it be otherwise that the music does this??? ---------------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o
me too. music brings me back to when life was so much more simple and everything was new and beautiful....
God is in Brian Wilson's head, truly beautiful coming from a truly blessed man, Thank you Brian...
+Richard Grant you got that right brother! Thank God for the gifts he gave to him.
Yes God’s goodness comes through in Brians’s songs...
This song is a Masterpiece. An absolute impeccably done work by a true genius. Wolfsky9
Paul, your right, pure Beach Boys. It's all been said before. Brian Wilson, Genius
Only BW could make such an album in this period of his life. And this track is one of the best he's ever made!
First time hearing this and you could absolutely slip this song in on a mid-60s Beach Boys album and no one would know the difference. It's perfect.
This is one of the most emotional tunes by Brian, as i feel myself baring witness to what has gone ...
To Mr. Van Gelder : Sir, as I approach 70 y/o, I feel more & more, all I've lost. thankfully, the music is still here, & forever. --but believe me, I so understand your words. --------------Wolfsky9, 69 y/o
Best Wishes
my musically inclined 17 year old son, KYLER ,started singing "wouldn't it be nice", when this song came on. what a genius! He got it - "Whatever Happened" is "Wouldn't It Be Nice" looking back. Brian Wilson you are unbelievable. What a genius you are to take your own greatest hit and transition it to a perfect mirror of what we all went through. I will be in the audience at Easton, Pennsylvania October 23, 2015.Thank you for caring so much with your music to help us all, through this life ,that changed even when we wanted it to stay the same. And thank your beautiful wife( your true Love) and your band for the love with which they cared for your sensitive ,caring heart's creations. Always indebted to you for your love.........thanks for your SMILE :)
wonderful
CHECK OUT WONT YOU TELL ME, RECORDED BY BRIAN AND CARL WILSON IN 1970, NEVER FINISHED, BUT IS A FANTASTIC TRACK THAT BRIAN SHOULD FINISH ON HIS NEXT RECORDING PROJECT!!
Este disco vale su peso en oro .Recomiendo la edición deluxe. Que grande el imaginario de Brian
Glad to be here to hear this genius music please come to Belfast love Ronnie newtownards x
I CANT get enough of the genius beauty of Brian's new CD NO PIER PRESSURE! HALF Moon Bay, This Beautiful Day, Whatever Happened..., Saturday Night, and The Right Time. .all GREAT!!!! Thank you Brian!!!
Brian Wilson is God
+Ulises Rodriguez Naw, he just works for Him. ;)
You mean: God works for Brian!
This bloke is in his 70s...amazing. Always listen to this after a couple of lagers; no reflection on the music. feel more relaxed and Brian Wilson's music takes me where I'd prefer to be the majority of the time
sublime...goosepimples...
Trionfo di colori e sapori di un'estate senza tempo, Brian Wilson e la Grande Ispirazione.
+marco motta Prego.
I agree with the Pet Sounds References. This song seems more reminiscent of Pet Sounds than anything since Pet Sounds if that makes any sense. Needless to say that is a Great Compliment to any song.
This is an absolute masterpiece, as good as anything BW has ever done. Worthy of Pet Sounds, BB's Today, or Sunflower. And, what a difference with Matt Jardine on this CD--nothing at all against Jeff, but Matt's voice is just so strong -- & he is after all, family. Wolfsky9
A masterpiece, one only BW could do. Wolfsky9
a new classic
Brian's vocals haven't sounded this good in many, many years, and I love that classic 60s sounding bass!
Actually his vocals sound like this because of autotune
That bass is the great Don Was, & I so agree; it's BW at his finest. Free from the pressure of The Boys, he just went for it, all-out. The lead guitar is Dean Parks, & there really is today, none better. -------------Wolfsky9, 69 y/o
Josh Zook
Not at all, the autotune is very distracting
@Lego Stop Motion, and you guys make tracks that sell in the millions without autotune?
All it took was years of self reflection.
God, I love the melody in this. And for some reason in my mind I wanna hear a prime Bee Gees cover this
@Kyle M actually, if I could hear anyone " cover" this, it would be The Fendertones. Those guys are amazing, especially in how they have re-done some of BW's best early music , & " Smile". THEY would do just ice to this amazing song. Wolfsky9
Magic, strong feeling, good voices. Thanks Brian, Al and David. One of The best song of the album.
This is my album favorite; & as I hear this, I know this song could have made Pet Sounds, for sure. Brian, thank-you so very, very much!! Wolfsky9
Only Brian could write sad songs about happy places. This has that classic Brian feel that he synthesized from the Four Freshman and the melancholy he revealed in songs 'ala "Caroline No". Understated brilliance. My other favorite track is "Guess You Had to Be There"....a happy song about some times that foreshadowed his down turn. Glad he can look back now and laugh about it.
OMG, this song is just a masterpiece. How can this man sound even better as he gets older ? This one brought me to tears. Wolfsky9, 68 y/o
After about 30 listenings, the entire NO PIER PRESSURE album is now 100% brilliant. I am used to the three or four songs that weren't up to (I thought) Brian's standards. Now the whole album flows for me perfectly. As magical as almost any Beach Boys' album, except maybe TODAY, PET SOUNDS, FRIENDS, and SUNFLOWER, but that's really saying something.
David Schecter I believe this is Brian’s best solo album. Then comes Imagination.
Zach B
His album called “Brian Wilson” was far better in my opinion
@Lego Stop Motion If you mean his 1988 album I have to disagree. I thought his vocals during that period were painful to listen to, although the material was good.
Stands right up there with anything on Pet Sounds. Incredible song.
2,50 min. di felicità quotidiana.
Love this track! It has the classic Beach Boys sound that I can never get enough of. Favorite song on the album for sure.
Such a great song. Brian is a genius. Great vocals from Brian and Al, and great guitars from David and Al!
@MovieMaker484 Sir, Actually, guitars were : Dean Parks / Don Was / David Marks / Keyboards : Joe Thomas & Scott Bennett / Drums, Jim Keltner/ Backgrounds : BW, Al & Matt Jardine, Scott Bennett & Darian Sahanaja . Wolfsky9
@Wolfsky9 You're right, I was misinformed. Knowing traditional BBs roles, I assumed Al was on guitar too! It's still a great song!
+Wolfsky9 I know you're a huge Carl fan. did you get the book about him? It's a complete waste of money. Would love your opinion. Thank you
Sir, Guitars on this song : Lead : Dean Parks / Bass : Don Was. ------they are 2 of the very best in the business. THAT'S why BW had them playing . ---Wolfsky9
Sir, actually, it was the Legendary Dean Parks on guitar, & Jim Keltner on drums, with Don Was on bass. ------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o
Best song on the album!
This is the best gift. The world is a better place because of Brian.
Thank you Brian, Al and Dave for this. Made my day!
