Wilson, Brian - They Can't Take That Away From Me Lyrics

The way you wear your hat (the way you wear your hat)
The way you sip your tea (the way you sip your tea)
The memory of all that (the memory of all that)
No no, they can't take that away from me

The way your smile just beats (the way your smile just beats)
The way you sing off key (the way you sing off key)
The way you haunt my dreams (the way you haunt my dreams)
No no, they can't take that away from me

We may never, never meet again
On this bumpy road to love
Still I'll always always keep that memory of

The way you hold your knife (the way you hold your knife)
The way we danced till three (the way we danced till three)
The way you changed my life (the way you changed my life)
No no, they can't take that away from me
No, they can't take that away from me

Wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di
Wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di
Wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di

Wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di
Wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di
Wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di

We may never, never meet again
On this bumpy road to love
Still I'll always always keep that memory of

The way you hold your knife (the way you hold your knife)
The way we danced till three (the way we danced till three)
The way you changed my life (the way you changed my life)
No no, they can't take that away from me
No, they can't take that away from me

Woah (wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di)
Woah (wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di)
Woah (wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di)
Woah (wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di)
Woah (wop bop bop, wop bop bi da di da di)

We all love Brian Wilson but let’s be honest this is terrible!

    Love God & Neighbor.

    It's Good.

It's not supposed to be like Sinatra.

Leave it to the great Brian Wilson to come up with such an interesting interpretation of a unique Gershwin classic. I give it an A+.

  10. Sandra Hawkins

Well I think it's great. Sure its very different from the original but it has its own merits.

  11. MrWolfmantim

I was hoping for some magic from the combination of Brian Wilson and the unparalleled Gershwin songs. This version reduces an American classic to a third rate jingle that one might expect to hear on a McDonald's commercial. How sad.

This is Wilsons interpretation of this song using his Beach Boys shuffle technique.
Compare him to Gershwin ? They're two very different artists , both wrote countless songs with very interesting and complex arrangements in two very different eras. Both are truly unique American songwriters.
    Two of the best.

this is terrible - all the sophistication, subtelty and yearning have been sucked out of it  - and to compare Wilson to Gershwin is outrageous

  14. Bejaardenbus

    A *fucking* disgrace.

    George Vieira

These yougins and their gosh darn rock n roll ruining my Gershwin!

  15. Daniel Senn
