Wilson, Brian - That's Not Me Lyrics

I had to prove that I could make it alone
But that's not me
I wanted to show how independent I'd grown now
But that's not me

I could try to be big in the eyes of the world
What matters to me is what I could be to just one girl

I'm a little bit scared
Cause I haven't been home in a long time
You needed my love
And I know that I left at the wrong time
My folks when I wrote them
Told 'em what I was up to said that's not me

I went through all kinds of changes
Took a look at myself and said that's not me
I miss my pad and the places I've known
And every night as I lay there alone I will dream

I once had a dream
So I packed up and split for the city
I soon found out that my lonely life wasn't so pretty
I'm glad I went now I'm that much more sure that we're ready

I once had a dream
So I packed up and split for the city

Wilson, Brian That's Not Me Comments
  1. M.... D....

Works just as well with Brian singing it solo.

  2. I.... O....

One of my favorite songs from Pet Sounds

  3. A.... R....

si dica che vissi all'epoca di Brian....e di questa che è la canzone piu'bella dell'universo ...like the monolite of 2001 a space odissey

  4. D.... D....

    That's _not_ Brian Wilson.

    D.... D....

its his stunt double! brian is dead! 🤣

  5. R.... C....

Proud to be alive at the same time of this genius

  6. T.... P....

    A great rendition. Thank you.

  7. N.... S....

mother fuck.. Auto-tune or not, chills don't lie to people.

    N.... S....

No way its autotune. He is off-pitch on the low notes all the time, he's still got a great falsetto though.

  8. F.... F....

it doesn't sound like autotune, diferently from the Beach Boys 50 years concert (which was awful)

  9. A.... ....

This autotune is not too subtle. I guess it's a safety net. It doesn't sound good. That's my problem. It doesn't fit the more raw style of That's Not Me. A very personal song. Whatever. Still GREAT SONGS!

You realise That's Not Me was sung by Mike Love, who had a baritone vocal range. Brian Wilson has a tenor vocal range. Try being old and battered by years of varied abuse - and singing out of your vocal range!

  10. N.... M....

MAn i love Brian wilson and the man undoubtedly changed the face of western music and has nothing else to prove, but these later live performances bug me with the use of autotune :( He doesn't need it! If he's got a bit less perfect in his older age who cares?

    N.... M....

Neil McGuiness in this one is still his actual voice... he way go out in the "in between" notes... slidding going above or under and then correcting... but he always did. Lately, they make him sound like a robot. :(

  11. J.... B....

When those vocals come in at 3:28

  12. T.... M....

Greastest artist of our time, hands down....

    T.... M....

Terry Mulligan Bols statement, but perhaps it's true. I'd personally say Dylan, but Brian is amazing.

  13. r.... c....

Don't Talk... is such a beautiful song! One of the most overlooked compositions by Brian!

  14. L.... ....

'That's Not Me' is probably one of my favorite Beach Boys songs.

  15. R.... ....

Ahora canta mal. En su momento no hubiesemos diccho lo mismo.

    R.... ....

De las mejores voces de la historia.

    R.... ....

lo que hubiese sido escucharlo en sus 24 años

    R.... ....

    No tan mal eh

  16. L.... T....

that's not me, love la canta mejor!, pero brian es su creador!
