Wilson, Brian - Run James Run Lyrics

I got a pretty good job and a fascination
For the souped up '32
There's a line outside
And they wait for a ride
Just to see what she can do
She's an easy rider
When you sit beside her
She's a real heartbreaker
You try to pass her but you never can shake her

You'd better run James run
A little faster
Fast as you can go
Find a ride (run, run, run a little faster)
Get inside
You'd better run James run
A little faster
Take her by the hand
Find a ride (run, James, run a little faster)
Be the man

You can stop and stare but she really doesn't care
If she's running really loud
She's a top and a closer
And a real good short
When she's hanging with the crowd
Her wheels keep turning
As the wood keeps burning
Goin' faster, faster
You can catch her but you'll never outlast her

You'd better run James run
A little faster
Fast as you can go
Find a ride (run, run, run a little faster)
Get inside
You'd better run James run
A little faster
Take her by the hand
Find a ride (run, James, run a little faster)
Be the man

You'd better run James run
A little faster
Fast as you can go
Find a ride (run, run, run a little faster)
Get inside
You'd better run James run
A little faster
Take her by the hand
Find a ride (run, run, run a little faster)
Be the man

You'd better run James run
A little faster
Fast as you can go
Find a ride (run, James, run a little faster)
Get inside

Wilson, Brian Run James Run Comments
  1. C.... F....

it's a 1966 song that he wanted to write as a "James Bond Theme"... Forget about the genius... I killed his brain in 1968, End of the Story.

  2. G.... D....

a little bit of "She Knows me so Well" in the background vocals

  3. R.... J....

A song harking back to the style people thought the Beach Boys used to write and sing in, but did not really. However I love it and brings quite a few tears to my eyes. Just love it. Reminds me of the Golden Summer that I searched for and never quite touched. Still lovely though - Surfs Up

FOUR dislikes on this Youtube audio?! WTF! This is simply sublime and a slice of genius happily at work in the beautiful world.

  5. J.... ....

This song is amazing, it would have been regarded as a classic BBs track if it was released in the 60s. I really hope Brian drops all the modern gimmicks and guest stars like he had on his last album and just gives us one solid record full of tracks like this.

    Bob Fleury
Would be nice to see James running with a 32 coupe!

  7. C.... B....

Just to prove when your a genius your always a genius. This song would not have not been out of place on the "Today" album. My son's name is James and I would like to think Brian wrote it just for him he he.

  8. K.... K....

I love Brian he can turn and burn forever pure music will live on......

    K.... K....

His body may get weaker, but his head is still full of wonderful music.

  9. c.... ....

Who is playing the guitar break?

    c.... ....

I would also like to know it. The musicians are not listed in the credits of the LP-version of 'Playback'

  10. D.... T....

Sounds so sweet vocally, age notwithstanding! That really made me smile, Brian. I
have a song that I'd love for you guys to sing, by the way.

  11. s.... ....

The melody is similar to "Don't Hurt My Little Sister" from the Beach Boys Today album. Always loved Brian. Listening and enjoying since 1963.

    s.... ....

I thought it was reminiscent of that tune.   Can you imagine David Marks playing that guitar break on stage?

    Legend.

  13. c.... ....

His skills are still intact.  He's the God of Harmony.  The guitar and bass break are fab!

  14. Q.... p....

Make cool music like that at 75 years old is remarquable!

  15. .... ....

Genius.I can't believe he is 75 years old.He has pure heart, and will be.

  16. W.... v....

It's not Good Vibrations or California Girls, but Brian Wilson obviously still has the chops to create songs that put a smile on your face!

Willem van Zeist his latest masterpiece is probably "The Last Song" from No Pier Pressure

  17. B.... L....

The backing vocals are out of this world. Wow, Brian did it again!

I even love the guitars battle between the Chuck Berry stuff and the twang!
