Wilson, Brian - Pet Sounds Lyrics

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong

You know its gonna make it that much better
When we can say goodnight and stay together

Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through

Happy times together we've been spending
I wish that every kiss was neverending
Wouldn't it be nice

Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray it might come true
Baby then there wouldn't be a single thing we couldn't do
We could be married
And then we'd be happy

Wouldn't it be nice

You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it
But lets talk about it
Wouldn't it be nice

Good night my baby
Sleep tight my baby

Wilson, Brian Pet Sounds Comments
  1. T.... ....

    Good sense indeed.

  2. M.... D....

Brian is a treasure that we were lucky enough to dig up. Let’s cherish him until the very end and infinitely beyond. Such a sweet and humble man, he deserves our love

  3. D.... U....

Pet sounds overrated piece of crap

    D.... U....

    no lmao

  4. i.... g....

    I'm listening, Brian.

  5. S.... F....

Im 35 years old. Ive been listening to this for as long as i can remember and its still my favorite album of all time.!!! Absolute genius. God bless you Brian.💚💚💚

  6. C.... H....

Who ever gave a thumbs down. You have no idea what true music is!

  7. T.... S....

Part of my youth. (The good parts).

  8. F.... V....

20:07 he's 23 years old again there for seconds

  9. G.... P....

    BRIAN SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!!!!

  10. P.... M....

I love how he smiles when everything works how it should. It's so beautiful.

  11. s.... ....

OK, so I remember when Pet Sounds came out in 1966 and I was in middle school, and remember exactly which room of our family's house I sat in and listened to it. I thought - this is different - no cars, surfboards - but I think I like it. Now its one of my favorites of all time, of a generation.

  12. E.... B....

    out of fucking tune!

  13. J.... K....

Thank you Mr.Wilson for all the great music ❤❤
You are a Legend, one of the best Songwriter of all time

  14. A.... F....

Everytime I hear Brian performing I cry....Unfortunately I’m just 22 and never had the chance of attending one of his concerts....but goddamn, he’s a gift from The man above!

  15. m.... s....

This is incredible! The WHOLE Pet Sounds LIVE! Done perfect, just like the record!

  16. N.... ....

every hundred years or so...a man is born to bless this ugly world with
the most beautiful music heard by thirsty ears..and Mr.Brian Wilson is
one of those born every hundred years or so

  17. D.... ....

“Don’t talk” was absolutely beautiful. I had tears welling in my eyes

  18. C.... W....

Mike Love has ridden the coat tails of Brian and his brothers and Al the whole time . Its always been about Mike . Brian doesnt need him .

  19. O.... ....

For being 70(x) or in his late sixties, as well as the tremendous drug abuse caused by both him and his so called "doctor" in the 80s, he hits a pretty good falsetto.

  20. J.... J....

I love to play my LP copy

  21. R.... M....

Without this man, I wouldn't have a career as an audio engineer.

    R.... M....

What you said is very important to hear because sometimes we stop believing in people or ourselves or both.
But it is actually other people who inspire us to be better and it is like a redemption to ourselves again.

  22. H.... E....

this is it - the live performance that made this album click for me.

caught it on VH1 Classic some time in the summer of 2012. mostly caught the second half - so it was "i know there's an answer" onwards. but even the second half got me to appreciate this very diverse album. a bittersweet portrait of a man's life, from all the little misses in love to the idea of alienation to even a rejected James Bond theme, this album deserves all of its praise.

please don't let brian wilson turn out to be a homophobe

  23. .... ....

    ☺️smileアメリカで一番🍀😌🍀😆💕壊れてからが滅茶苦茶カッコいい。

  24. N.... A....

    Braian Wilson nota 1000 genio

  25. L.... M....

It's a beatiful album and beatiful songs
    😊☺

  26. C.... C....

Genius and madness often go hand in hand.

  27. J.... B....

Hard to believe this was 17 years ago and Brian doesn't sing or look like this anymore

  28. E.... ....

That excited bass player is wonderful...

  29. J.... H....

Looks like John Cowsill on percussion.

  30. J.... H....

He wrote his TENTH album by the time he was 23 years old. TENTH!!!

  31. m.... r....

If You find a guy like Brian Wilson who is so down to earth that's just so rare in this industry

  32. M.... B....

It is so good seeing a smiling Brian Wilson.😄

  33. E.... H....

Did anybody else notice Brian's shirt changed?

  34. P.... M....

I would pay absolute top dollar today for a ticket to this show.

  35. j.... ....

    He ate all my corn!

  36. L.... m....

    wow! nails it. love

  37. G.... F....

man, his voice was killer here

  38. R.... P....

    Amazing

  39. G.... G....

Who's the hot blonde backup singer ?

  40. N.... S....

Been in love with this man for so long...I always compare his musical genius to that of Mozart's. Love his smile....

  41. L.... K....

Why do you reckon he sped up, "I'm waiting for the day" and "That's not me"?

  42. M.... ....

Brian can sure pull fabulous harmonies out of a group of musicianship. Watching him conduct and enjoy the songs during the performance are a a real joy.

  43. m.... r....

    Take that, Mike Love!

  44. J.... J....

There are some uneven tracks, it is a live performance and Brian isn't a passionate 23 year old anymore.. but most of them are just stunning. You Still Believe in Me lost none of its emotional power. Sloop John B sounds even better now than it did in '66. He is so gracious and decent to his audience, doesn't for a minute take his fame or success for granted.

  45. J.... R....

I guess Mike Love has 26 Youtube accounts! How can you thumbs down this? It is really great to see him getting the recognition he deserves and he seems to be enjoying himself!

  46. d.... L....

    Brazil!

  47. R.... ....

    I love you Bri

  48. N.... M....

I distracted for a minute and I think it was the studio version

  49. R.... K....

Happy Birthday Brian, 75 on June 20th...RockinRonny from Canada.

  50. J.... D....

This is awesome! Notice, it doesn't require Mike Love. It only requires Brian Wilson and his orchestra!

    J.... D....

And Mike's band doesn't need Brian to be AWESOME!!!

    J.... D....

I wont say anything bad about Mikes band but Mike Love is an asshole!

  51. O.... R....

I have tickets to see them at Harrahs May 20th! so excited the music of my youth and the beach. classic. 🌴🌴🌴🌴⛱⛱⛱

  52. B.... B....

Saw him last night. One of the best concerts I've ever experienced, and I've been to (too) many!! God bless you, Brian!!! 😂 And, Al Jardine, as well -- he defies time!😋

  53. B.... B....

    Seeing him tonight. Can't wait!!!

  54. s.... ....

I have my tickets for the April 30th show in Worcester, MA. and I am SO PSYCHED!!!

  55. g.... c....

wow unreal....I grew up to this...reminds me of when good times was getting a milkshake

I HAD NO IDEA HE SOUNDED SO GOOD,

    g.... c....

giovanni corsino sweet nostalgia? A milkshake sounds pretty fucking good right now bro :)

    g.... c....

    @Alex Desmall

A dilly bar at the DQ.

  56. m.... m....

was für eine seele muss er haben, love him immens, marietta.

  57. A.... M....

Putting this masterpiece aside for a moment,it's so great to see Brian back on stage, smiling and having a really good time.Musical genius and survivor. His songs will live forever and the world is a better place because of him. What an amazing talent!!!!

  58. .... S....

    Brian Wilson is a genius.

    .... S....

    100% Agree

    .... S....

@Alvaro Sarco: no argument with that statement.

  59. B.... ....

He sounds like he's really enjoying himself. It makes me really happy to see him getting the recognition he deserves, even fifty years after releasing Pet Sounds!

    B.... ....

    Thanks to the Wondermints.

  60. T.... M....

Great harmonies, catchy songs, shallow lyrics

  61. d.... e....

    your a fucking fraud brian........

    d.... e....

the word is you're, a contraction for you are, so Max is right. You should watch and or read all of the material out there on Brian Wilson. He is the real thing, and someone whose story has touched my heart (an ears) in an incredibly positive way. He doesn't need trolls like you. For every childish troll, there are a thousand such as myself who proceeded to obtain the film and every album. While you are rotting in your meanness, My home is filled with wonderful music.

    d.... e....

Yeah considered it after i decapitate you...

    d.... e....

    hahahahahhaa

    d.... e....

    What a woglet

  62. R.... B....

yeeessss! just got 2 tickets for the 28th oct 2016 brian wilson royal albert pet sounds gig, going with my son oh im sure macca will be there and

  63. M.... M....

What a gentle soul he must be

    M.... M....

Yes, very gentle and humble, too! He's a fine musician and great humanitarian.

  64. D.... F....

First saw BW preform PS complete in October 2000 and will see his last tour performance locally in September this year.

    D.... F....

He's still on tour as of September 2018

  65. m.... m....

tight band. great high harmony by that big guy. though this band really shines when they did smile in 2004

  66. D.... W....

I saw Brian perform Pet Sounds live a few years ago. He's back at the Manchester Apollo tomorrow, and I'll be there!

  67. J.... ....

Thank you Julian, this is pure gold. Brian sounds amazing, but even better is seeing the pure joy in his eyes as he sings these iconic songs.

  68. 1.... ....

I have suffered from mental illness my entire life and was ashamed of it. Brian and his music have taught me that i have nothing to be ashamed of. Thank You Brian !!

    1.... ....

Amen to that. I too have struggled with mental health and substance amd alcohol abuse for the better part of my life and I'm only 31.... Brian's music is not only genius...but also very therapeutic. He is truly one of the greatest musicians/song writers and composers of all time. Like Sean Lennon once said.. "I listen to the Beach Boys everyday because Brian's music is powerful enough to make the worst of days tolerable with his brilliant melodies and lyrics... God bless Brian Wilson.

    1.... ....

@Brian DiVincenzo did he say that? Wow

    1.... ....

@Justin Puga Yes he did... I honestly forget which one it was...but it was was on a documentary about him...theres quite a few.... A cpl yrs ago Showtime did a documentary about the 50th anniversary of Pet Sounds... If u go thru the track list on thr album..and search for example "behind the sound..wouldnt it be nice" and there will be a 7-8 min video talking about each song.. The documentary features commentary by Brian(obviously lol),Al Jardine, and alot of the Wrecking Crew interviews... The wrecking crew was a group of extremely talented studio musician's...frequently used by Brian's idol Phil Spector(atleast before he killed that girl)...thats a good one... If u search Brian Wilson documentaries..theres like 6 or 7 of em...all very good... Check em out brother...youll dig it...alsk idk if your a Crosby,Stills,Nash, and Young fan.. Another great documentary by Cameron Crowe called "Remember My Name" its about David Crosby...and one more lol...its called "Echo in the Canyon" by Bob Dylan's son Jakob...its about all the bands that came out of Laurel Canyon in the 60s... He interviews Brian Wilson,Jackson Browne,Graham Nash,Ringo,Eric Clapton and alot more...its great...so theres a list of dope documentaries about bands that we both obviously like... Enjoy my friend....also check out the trailers to "Echo in the Canyon" and "Remember My Name"...it'll give u a taste on how good those documentaries are.

    1.... ....

you don't have anything to worry about. I love you so much :)

    1.... ....

It blows me away that he did smile in 2002 and pet sounds I love pet sounds I saw him do pet sounds in 2017

  69. N.... A....

fuck! that rendition of i'm waiting for the day is amazing.

  70. J.... R....

after seeing love n mercy ; i became a fan forever , im buying pet sounds and another cd by beach boys ;;thanks biran wilson an elvis fan and beach boy fan also,,,, dario03242016

    J.... R....

CD?!?!!? Do yourself a favor and get in mono vinyl. The way it was meant to be heard.

  71. P.... R....

I've heard this album since it was released. Until I watched the movie "Love & Mercy", I didn't know there was anything special about the composition of the music. I guess I Hear music, but don't Listen to it.

  72. E.... P....

Pet Sounds is the best album ever by the Beach Boys

    E.... P....

I love the smile sessions. I would really have loved to hear what that project would have sounded like if BW had finished it back then. Today's is great, I agree, but if he would have finished it back then it would've likely been quite different.

    E.... P....

It's a close second to "Surf's Up" for me.

    E.... P....

@Jude Quinn Surf's Up is a good album but quite varied. The last three tracks make it for me with the title track being the absolute highlight. It's all subjective though. Personally I think side two of Today! is the most underrated slice of BBs music.

    E.... P....

I like smile a little more than pet sounds. sunflower is also terribly underrated.

    E.... P....

i agree with all the comments below this post and will add Holland...20/20.... In Concert

  73. M.... A....

Pet Sounds original tracklisting: 12 songs

    Wouldn't It Be Nice
    You Still Believe In Me
    That's Not Me
Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)
    I'm Waiting For The Day
    Let's Go Away For Awhile

    God Only Knows
    Hang Onto Your Ego
    Here Today
I Just Wasn't Made For These Times
    Pet Sounds
    Caroline, No

  74. U.... K....

Thank you , Mr. Wilson, for songs of my young life that I can carry forward.

  75. E.... ....

The worst what? THIS IS THAT WORST WHAT????!!!!

  76. P.... P....

He changed the Key of some songs right?

    P.... P....

+FOW skate no they don't haha he personally changed some keys as he fucked his voice up so much he can't hit the really high notes anymore

    P.... P....

+Steven S No.... i think he just got old

    P.... P....

You "think"? Well I'm glad that you "think" that way but unfortunately you're wrong. "During this [reclusive] period, his voice deteriorated significantly as a result of his mass consumption of cocaine and incessant chain smoking" is written on his wikipedia page with a reference to his biography by Peter Ames Carlin (2006) so it's not typical wikipedia nonsense. Listen to any of his music from the 80s, even then his voice is horrible compared to what it was. I "think" I wouldn't have stated such a crazy fact without any evidence or justification

    P.... P....

Yes, most of the songs we really like jump octaves.Music professors across the world still marvel st his work. Genius and madness often walk a fine line. How fortunate Melinda came along. For ALL of us.

    P.... P....

Pedro Paulo Vidal ~ Try 0.75x speed. Interesting!

  77. I.... R....

    whats the second song?

    I.... R....

+Isaac Richard it's called "You still believe in me"

  78. E.... K....

This is beyond amazing - the very very best album of all time - it's a miracle Brian did it live .. I met him in 1988 with Landy - This is so amazing : the band the vocals - puts me in tears -

  79. T.... H....

I love hip hop and classic rock the most but really just great music. When I discovered this album I was blown the fuck away. The way he put all these great sounds together with his lyrics are genius. One of the best albums of all time for sure

    T.... H....

the hip hop remix of "I just wasn't made for these times" is incredible

    T.... H....

    it's a j dilla remix

    T.... H....

    What a travesty! Horrible!!

    T.... H....

    @mark s hip hop?

    T.... H....

Not hip hop per se but hip hop mixing in with anything to do with Pet Sounds. UGHH

  80. w.... ....

Love and Mercy brought me here. Thank you for sharing your authentic self.

  81. b.... ....

The documentary, The Wrecking Crew brought me here. Genius.

    b.... ....

+bluesandcountry Great documentary, that crew was behind some amazing albums!

  82. G.... W....

why does his shirt keep changing?

    G.... W....

+Grant W Cause this vid is a montage of several shows

  83. E.... F....

This is a simple story- Brian Wilson decided to stop playing it safe and start living up to his personal vision.  Whether you like this music or not it is a quantum leap from his earlier career.  I think it's great that people understand what he's doing.

  84. P.... ....

incredible musical genius Brian is. such a huge impact he has made on my musical life . that eerie, dark and melodic combination he throws into a positive pop song format......it cant be matched by any rock icons like Lennon/ McCartney, or even Harry Nillsson . i'm amazed this man is still with us today.

    P.... ....

    @Sheila Jones

Wilson was driving the creativity bus in the 60s. McCartney sat in on some of the Smile sessions, he can even be heard crunching celery on the Vega-Tables track. The influence of Smile is clearly evident on Sgt Pepper's. Wilson is in a league of his own and will someday have his own postage stamp here in the US. Pure genius.

    P.... ....

    @Sheila Jones

Have you seen this cover of Sloop John B by the Fendertones? It is stunning. Dare I say it's as good as the BB's version?
    https://youtu.be/GmJ6e06eYcM

    P.... ....

Wud Dude just listened. Yes it's brilliant. Thanks for the link x

    P.... ....

i think you might like this - Lyle Lovett doing God Only Knows ...I think it's sublime; different, not everybody's taste. (and Hootie & The Blowfish after that) x

    P.... ....

    @Sheila Jones

Those were good but the English kids doing love and mercy stole the show.

  85. s.... w....

The album was made in 66 but the musicians here did an awesome job simulating the album sound.

    s.... w....

It actually sounded like the record..

  86. S.... S....

if i ever wrote one of those songs id be proud. Brian looks, sounds and entertains like hes having a great time sharing his gift. So many other stars seem to emote entitlement where Brian emotes pure humility and appreciation for life and the Gift he was given. His type is so rare.

  87. M.... X....

Was lucky enough to see Brian Wilson live at the Brighton Pavillion... He cried and I put my hand on his shoulder. Thanks for the memory Dad.

    M.... X....

Maximus X, but did you put your _head_ on his shoulder?

  88. M.... ....

Three greatest eras of Brian Wilson's symphonic rock art: Pet Sounds, Smile and the Beach Boys' intermittent 1968-1976 period.

    M.... ....

Agreed! Though I think '77's Love You belongs there, too: probably the final great BBs statement, however raw.

    M.... ....

    Dont forget Today!(1965)

  89. D.... N....

you could get rid of about half of the people on stage there and still have a great band. bunch of hangers on. poor brian still can't tell who wants to be his true friend and who wants to pretend to be his friend and then take advantage of him. its so nice to see brian feeling healthy and confident. and its so nice to hear him hit the falsettos so clearly and soaring away.

  90. K.... B....

"When he was 23 he wrote his 10th album"

Yeah but the guy hasn't written shit since then so why the fuck are they celebrating him? That's not an artist, that's a dabbler

    K.... B....

funny how he just released a new album two months ago....

    K.... B....

Wait what? This better be some kind of sick joke.

    K.... B....

He made Surf's Up in 1971, which is arguably better.

  91. J.... I....

This made me so fucking happy. Brian Wilson has no idea!
    ]

  92. d.... ....

Fat dude is so on point with the backup vocals.

    d.... ....

@dasenase That's Jeffrey Foskett, who has been Brian Wilson's "right hand man." Wilson has famously called Foskett his "only living brother." He started playing with the Beach Boys in 1980-81, played on the 50th anniversary tour, and has performed with Mike Love's Beach Boys as well as Brian Wilson's band. If there's another reunion of all the living members of the Beach Boys, Foskett will probably be there.

    d.... ....

I prefer Matt Jardine to Foskett

    d.... ....

Jeffrey Foskett always seems a little more polished to me than Matt Jardine

    d.... ....

    Thank you

    d.... ....

Matt is good but this guy sounds more fitting

  93. s.... ....

    so amazing!

  94. c.... t....

LOVE Brian Wilson. A musical wonder of my time!

  95. J.... K....

there's a big lack of mike love and al jardine in this concert

    J.... K....

@Jimmy K thank Fuck for no Mike Love!

    J.... K....

@Jimmy K Brian wrote EVERY part those guys EVER sang..doesn't matter who sings the parts...

    J.... K....

@Mark Stevens of course it matters. How many singers don't write their own music? I appreciate what this band is doing, but they don't sound like the Beach Boys. I COnsider them another important instrument Brian used on Pet Sounds

    J.... K....

Love rejected this work basically. He was onto the formula rather than the art . Big difference between the two men.
Al Jardine is a fine musician and vocalist, and I agree he adds a lot as he is with this band on Brian's new tour in 2015.

    J.... K....

@Jimmy K  Who's really missed on this Carl.  Brian adored his voice, but Brian did great here.

  96. G.... S....

when did this concert take place?

    G.... S....

    2002 I think

    G.... S....

    yup, 2002 :)

  97. H.... G....

Gênio! Melhor álbum do séc. XX. Thank you, Mr. Wilson!

  98. j.... m....

Canciones maravillosas,de uno de los mejores álbums del siglo XX.Thanks Brian, for your music.

  99. D.... d....

My cat died today so sad thank you Brian

    D.... d....

Its sooo good seeing Brian smiling underddtanding his emergence from dark places. The ole MASTER AT HIS BEST!

    D.... d....

    hello mr schopenhauer
