this was the last movie me my mom and my dad went to before he passed away of cancer... but it was very nice when we saw it we really felt loved within ourselves. i kind of took it for granted. .

As much as I absolutely love and cherish Brian and his work, I think his voice is the biggest reason these songs aren't getting much recognition. Despite Brian being in his mid 70s, the writing is actually very clever. Songs like this one could have been something released on a beach boys record around the sunflower era. I think if somebody younger with a strong voice dubbed a lead over the backing track of this, it could have a much higher potential. Not to say Brian's voice isn't still good, but it's nothing compared to what it used to be, and I think he still has a lot of complex vocal arrangements (especially falsetto) in his head that he simply just can't sing himself.

So sad how some people will take advantage of kind people like this man , but the Lord finds a way

@Ibraam, while we all respect Marilyn Wilson, I hardly think that she's in any medically, psychiatrically, or medically qualified to make that judgment. She was, after all, one of the members of Brian's family to approve Landy's treatment. Of COURSE she'd back up her original mistake with continued approval of Landy's seedy capabilities.

Sorry but Paul Dano could have and should have played Brian both old and young. Cusack is miscast (imo). Far too pretty and not exactly renowned for being a character actor, and this shows why.

Love & Mercy film is awesome. I thought I knew all the story, but the depth of evil by Eugene Landy was beyond belief. Just goes to show how micromanager control freak quacks can kill of any sort of creative thought. Brian was very lucky to find a loving woman to free him from the monster that was Eugene Landy.

@Armentitron From accounts from Carl and other musicians that knew Brian at the time, it was nowhere near exaggerated. Even Brian himself felt like he was listening to the real Landy again.

Without Dr. Landy, Brian Wilson would have been dead in 1982. That is a fact.

Landy flat out saved his life, got him healthy and focused, got him away from all his "friends" that were bleeding him dry and bringing drugs to his home. I've had the pleasure of performing with nearly all the Wilson/Beach Boy musicians...I opened for the Beach Boys, hung out and jammed with them in the Hollywood Hills and had Brian pull up a lounger next to my amp as I played bass and sang his parts on his songs as the sun set on the Pacific ocean.

One Kind of Love was nominated for a Golden Globe and that is a beautiful song. Instead it lost to another dumb James Bond song. It wasn't nominated for an Oscar but Simple Song 3 was and that song is not so bad. But no it lost to the same dumb James Bond Song. Who the heck is running the academy? Most singers lose this vocal ability and heart felt joy by the time they're this age ..but there's something Brian held onto. It's something that kind of makes you crazy, but without it, you might as well just hang it up ...both in life and music.
