I was 5 yrs old when song was released in 1964.. Remember my 2 brothers and I would be on the "Beach" when this song was playing. Fun times! And yes Wilson is a musical genius.

This takes me back 79 I was 10 my older sister was 18 we shared a room there was 6 kids so everyone had to share a room she had this 8 track and it brings back memories, purple crushed velvet bed spread , multicolored candles burning , posters plastered all over the walls , windows open with a summers breeze blowing in , life seemed so simple back then !!!!

This song was Originally written for RONNIE SPECTOR to record. Phil wouldn't let her record it because of control issues. So the Beach Boys said to hell with and recorded themselves and I guess the rest is history. Bravo for them! My favorite tune from them. A beautiful song of promise and reassurance.

I am 70 next month! We sure had fun didn't we~I was a beach girl with a surfer brother.

I'm only 48 and love the BBs. Saw them 30 years ago in a football stadium when you could still go into the field, bring a blanket and sit on the field and enjoy a few hours of great music, not stuck paying hundreds of dollars to sit in a fold up chair in the 20th row barely being able to see. Great times back then.

I have seen more flexible people in the Brooklyn Museum' mummies. Polyester pants. crossed arms. God given voices. Never, ever, duplicated. The Beach Boys cast a long shadow.

This was our Carnegie Hall, and they were all top graduates from Juilliard.

The words and music to this song are in my DNA. Man was I lucky to grow up in the late 60"s and 70"s. Can't imagine how hard it must be to be a kid these days. Weapons in school were unheard of. All our dads were ex army ex navy they all had guns they kept and we all new if we touched them and fucked around with them we would catch a beating. We did not fuck with dads guns.
No one ever fucked with dads guns. Much less bring a gun into school and hurt someone. Killing was unfathomable.

This song was the first dance for my wife and I at our wedding. We separated 5 months ago and it only hit me today. I'm crying and heartbroken listening to it. I love her and can't believe we will not grow old together. She was my best friend.

In 1980 Burt Reynolds made this movie called "Starting over" and when Lennon use to write songs he would have the radio playing and an ad for that movie came up and then this Beach Boys song and he ripped off the chord changes and melody "And when I see you darling - it's like we are both fallin in love again..it'll be just like starting over" He was brilliant how he could do that

Just too crazy how so restricted these groups were way back when. The lyrics are provocative, but you'd never know it from this video. Underrated song, definitely. One of my fave BB songs. :)
