Wilson, Brian - Add Some Music To Your Day Lyrics
The sunday mornin' gospel goes good with the soul
There's blues, folk, and country, and rock like a rollin' stone
The world could come together as one
If everybody under the sun
Add some music to your day
A bob didit a bop didit
You'll hear it while you're walkin' by a neighbor's home
You'll hear it faintly in the distance when you're on the phone
You're sittin' in a dentist's chair
And they've got music for you there
To add some music
(Add some music add some add some music to your)
To your day
A bob didit a bop didit
Add some music music everywhere (add some music)
Add some add some add some add some music (add some music)
Your doctor knows it keeps you calm
Your preacher adds it to his psalms
So add some music
(Add some music add some add some music to your)
To your day
Music
(Add some music add some music)
When you're alone
(Add some music add some music)
Is like a companion
(Add some music add some music)
For your lonely soul
Oo oo oo woo oo woo oo oo oo oooo
When day is over (when day is over)
I close my tired eyes (I close my tired)
Music is in my soul
At a movie you can feel it touching your heart
And on every day of the summertime
You'll hear children chasing ice cream carts
They'll play it on your wedding day
There must be 'bout a million ways
To add some music
(Add some music add some add some music to your)
To your day
Add some music to your day
Add some music to your day
Add some music to your day
Add some music to your day
Add some music to your day

Wilson, Brian Add Some Music To Your Day Comments
Can someone explain me why this is considered a bad song? I loved it from the very first time. It embraces my soul and fills it with so much positivity as only The Beach Boys' music can do
Easily one of their 5 best albums along with Pet Sounds ,Friends ,Love You and All Summer Long.
There’s not even a single bad tune in Sunflower!!!
There’s not a single weak track off Sunflower, it’s a true masterpiece of an LP.
How could this 45 get ignored. What a great album. One of the finest pop albums.
''Music is in my soul'' indeed !
A really great song, but, why did Warner/Reprise release it as a single?
Loved the album from the day I bought it. Even the excellent reviews couldn't prepare me for its pleasures.
More brilliance from Brian and the band.Totally dismissed in North America. How could F.M.ignore this.Sure tells you about radio stations.
Great song.Great album..
This is one of BB's very best vocal songs. When I first heard it 45? years ago it blew my mind. The calm harmonies that evolves to the fantastic crescendo at 2:25 ("my soul") on this recording is a masterpiece.
広島のヤマハで輸入盤を買った。亀渕昭信がなんかフォークっぽくなったねとラジオで言っていたのを覚えている。当時は日本では全くと言うぐらい注目されなかったBB6だったね。
My favorite time to hear the beach boys is the start of summer vacation. Hey, ill add some music to my day
add some music to anything, esp if it's the BB. Underrated when I was growing up in the northeast in the 60's, but never to me. Incredible music and lyrics - absolutely genius. Just went to a Brian Wilson the other evening in Morristown, NJ. Even though Brian Wilson can't sing, it was wonderful listening to all that music - what a blessing!
Nice song but no "hook". Nothing grabs you. It doesn't get your attention.
For example, "Sloop John B" had the hook right at the beginning with the flutes.
"Good Vibrations" had the Hammond B3 and the opening line: "Ahhh! I love the colorful clothes she wears, and the way the sunlight plays upon her hair..." Mike Love's lyrics...
One of my favorite openings is Tammy Wynette's, "Stand By Your Man". Makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Pure torch. Way better than anything Marlene Dietrich ever did.
The Supremes and "Baby Love". "Ooooh! Oooooh! Baby love; my baby love!" Helluva hook.
Barry Gordy and Phil Spector were geniuses when it came to "hooks".
If in the first ten seconds a song doesn't force you to reach for the volume and crank it all the way to the right, it's not gonna get put in the rotation.
Unfortunately, "Add Some Music..." was DOA. No snap; no crackle; no pop...Remember Chris Tucker's character, "Ruby Rhod" in "Fifth Element"? "It had no pop! It's got to pop, pop, pop!"
This song is beautiful. Clean out yer ears!
Classic!
Go and watch Sunflower engineer Stephen Desper's tutorial videos. Great stuff!!
to all us BB fans this is the album we love the most. It's sweet, soulful, neglected and nearly forgotten. It is no less than a catastrophe that this work is so ignored. I think it's most tragic because this is the last moment the BB were this young and hopeful.
Most soulful, beautiful, song of their legacy. Music is in our soul!!!!
This is rapidly becoming my favourite Beach Boys song ( I have 50 Big Ones CD )
alan, get the sunflower album
This tune was 1 reason why I'm glad I attended the University of San Diego, CA from 1978 to 1980! We had tennis, boogie-boarding, golf, cute girls, great food, sunshine, & "America's Finest City"! Temps averaged a lovely 75 degrees -- not too hot; not too cold. Plus -- The Beach Boys provided the soundtrack! Great, awesome band for decades! Loved every minute of my time there! * Cav ~ U.S.D., class of 1980! 7/2/17. U.S.D. alumnus # 66933!
Mike en su mejor voz también , no siempre es ponerlo a parir
Like with a lot of Beach Boys songs the lyrics are cringe worthy, but the harmony, melody, arrangement are fantastic!
The lyrics are often simple and sincere, nothing 'cringeworthy' about that.
the lyrics are fine your comment is cringeworthy
The sweet, simple, open-hearted sincerity of their lyrics is one of the best things about The Beach Boys. Please delete this stupid-ass comment, lol.
This album, Pet Sounds up to this and up to 1977 inspired to write my album As It Was And As It Always Will Be. Tull, Floyd, and the Beatles post-Sgt. Pepper did also.
Inspired me.
Are you sure it is good?
Siempre BRIAN
Six people don't want to add some music to their day.
Music,music my soulll
Great Album
I thought I was a Beach Boys fan but this album escaped my attention. Glad I found it.
By the way,, carolinerailroaeder.. You must be deaf, How in this world could you call this song garbage
For sure, Most bypassed and forgotten song they ever did,,
Most under-rated Beach Boys album, a real masterpiece...........despite having to deal with cancerous Mike Love and his BS.
Spot on, Marvin!
Brian had PET SOUNDS and BBs had SUNFLOWER
I just Love it 🥰
yes! get it!
ajoute de la musique a ta journee.very good!!bonne idee.un chant partage par tous les membres du groupe!la chanson qui illustre le mieux l a couverture de l album!!
Je suis d'accord avec vous beaucoup!
to me, the most beautiful BB album next to Pet Sounds.
At 0:13 I always hear "Blues, fucking' Country" when I'm not really paying attention.
..... That's hilarious !!! ..... LOL !!!
Remember a review of this album in NME or another major rag of 71 where the writer stated "..... familiar stuff from The Beach Boys, we've heard it all before, time for something different......" or words to that effect. Huh. Music critics eh? Huh. Wadda they know?
+Abe Grimes Well, many critics have praised this album...
+Abe Grimes
Abe you know, the Beach Boys had the last laugh. What was the writers name? I don't know either, but my 16 year old son listens to Brian and the Boys ... I reckon they outlast that critic. You are spot on.
+Abe Grimes Yeah you right ! I love this album.
Wish I'd listened to Sunflower earlier but thankfully NME have folded.... whereas The Beach Boys are still around and still loved.
Terry Lipford that line was sung by Bruce, If you listen to them enough you can tell them apart.
In my opinion, I would say that the lead vocals are sung by :
- Mike from the beginning to 1:13 and from 2:33 to 2:40
- Bruce from 1:33 to 1:48 and from 2:51 to 3:07.
- Carl from 1:51 to 2:15
- Brian from 2:16 to 2:24
- Al from 2:42 to 2:50
Love Bruce's voice, the most smooth and relaxing
@gittahfiend Nope, that's Brian.
2:15 to 2:25 is definitely Dennis followed by Brian with "Music is in my soul". The best part of the whole song to me.
I'm pretty sure that it's Dennis from 2:16 to 2:24. It's his timbre, a little bit harsh and bifurcated voice that I really love!
@Tolga Darcan It's Brian.
Such a brilliant album
There must be 'bout a million ways -- As people have pointed out, each of the Boys sang a chorus, and I would love to know who was singing what. Anybody know?
- Mike from the beginning to 1:13 and from 2:33 to 2:40
- Bruce from 1:33 to 1:48 and from 2:51 to 3:07.
- Carl from 1:51 to 2:15
- Brian from 2:16 to 2:24
- Al from 2:42 to 2:50
Some notable musicians should sing this at Brian's funeral, when the time comes.
+jwmellott ..yeah...god should
+jwmellott Hopefully that does not happen in a long time. (10 years)
I'd vote for "Surfin'" since it was the first. Close contenders would be "Surf's Up", "Love & Mercy", "God Only Knows" and "Shortenin' Bread"
I am not sure this has been mentioned, but this track is especially noteworthy, because each of the (then) six Beach Boys - Brian, Dennis, Carl, Al, Mike, and Bruce - handles the lead vocal at some point on the track.
+Greg Heilers You're right but I'm not sure that Dennis sings on this one.
+superpotiron I always thought it was Dennis at about 2:16. Is it not?
+Greg Heilers I'm pretty sure that it's Brian.
+superpotiron Dennis is on there. He does the. Add Some Music, Add Some Music Ba Part in the chorus
2:16 is Carl and Brian
Great album
dylan, hendrix, morrison, miles davis, robert jhonson, too many! lol
Had this been released in 1966, it would have been a resounding chart success, no shadow of a doubt.
Whenever I have a really, REALLY bad day I listen to songs like this to help me forget my worries. God bless the Beach Boys.
Amen! God bless the Beach Boys
Operators should use this as the 'hold please' music.
man bruce has an amazing voice
1 moron dislike...
the beach boys were made because of brian's genius mind
This album doesn't get enough popular recongition, even though it is a great band effort, instead of just Brian showing his genius
goodjobspringupowell
brian Wilson is a musical genious, but when the whole band works together like this, it's magnificent!
Being a NYC boy my friends all used to make fun of my love of the Beach Boys. I never cared. Not too many bands can touch your heart & soul the way the Beach Boys can.
growing up in the 2000's and 2010's, I used to get bugged for my love of the beach boys, but I didn't give a damn.
Great song; terrific album!
Podcast with Fred Vail who knows Beach Boys history like no other (promoted the Sacramento concerts) > Click BB45s, then right sidebar
Just saw them at Blossom Music Ctr. in Cleveland, this song was a definite highlight
an entire musical in one song!
haha that dom dom doum do do (like at 0:44) sounds just like the intro to Roy Orbison's 'Only the Lonely'
A song which sums up their lives - and ours.
41 years years ago ......and I never tire of this album . Beautiful and timeless,BBs at their best
MUSIIIIIIIIC IS IIIIIIIIIN MY SOOOOOOuuuuuuUUUULLLLLLL
heres a replay button for that amazing sweet spot ---> 2:22
Carl is great there
@rinustenk Had to be a Mike Love line.
LOVE THIS SONG!!! I have missed so much of the Beach Boy's music, not even being aware of this album until tonight...and believe me, I am plenty old enough to have been around when it was released.
I am so sorry, Brian, Carl (RIP), and all of the contributors to this great song and album. You have not received the credit you deserved then and now. Thank you for making my life seem brighter by several thousand megawatts after listening to your music!
Add Some Music To Your Day. That's what I do every day!
The Beach boys always add music to my day
When the day is over, I close my tired eyes, music is in my soul! Hey that's Brian's bit! :D
Brian Wilson is Americas musical genius.
The Beach Boys ARE American Music!
1:50-2:15 makes you think of Brian..great song.
I never heard this song until i got their anthology a few years ago.
it's really good.
happy birthday brian wilson
Bop bop dittle - it.
absolutely beautiful :)
this is a beautiful laid back beach boys rock song. this is from one of my favorite albums
