Williams, Paul - Still Alive Lyrics

I don't know you in those clothes
I don't know you with that hair
Two dimensional reflection
Unforgiving unaware

Part time dreamer
Would be player
You thought fame could outrun fear
Something clearly terrified you
Did you choose to disappear?

Guess again
Guess again
You made friends
And some still ask about you
Now and then

Well you sang a pencil promise
That you thought you might erase
Left a fault line on your future
Someday heartache you must face
Earned a black belt in disaster
End up acting like a jerk
It's a fact of life, your final act
Is gonna need some work

Where've you been?
Where've you been?
Learning lessons on the road to hell
And back again

And someone asked me once
Where do we go when we arrive
If you're lucky, when it's over
The dreamer's still alive
A blessed mystery
For sweeter souls did not survive
But if you're lucky, when it's done
Somewhere deep inside
The dreamer's still alive

Once reality's your roommate
And the truth stands at your door
All your records have been broken
Trophies won't shine anymore
New beginnings are the challenge
But you don't know where to start
Unimagined gifts are waiting
Love will find your grateful heart

Then again
Once again
You will come to know the simple man you've always been

And someone asked me once
Where do we go when we arrive
If you're lucky, when it's over
The dreamer's still alive
A blessed mystery
For sweeter souls did not survive
But if you're lucky, when it's done
Somewhere deep inside
The dreamers still alive

The anger will be gone
And the cynic will move on
And, if you're lucky

“I wanted to be an actor because I didn’t want to be myself” welcome to my life pal. I loved the documentary by the way and I have always loved Paul. What a talented man. Seeing him brings me back to my childhood ❤️

I love this man. I'm 55, and a few years ago while watching grand kids I Hear behind the song "Rainbow Connection" start. I turned and there was Paul on Yo Gabba Gabba looking all 70's and suddenly realized I was crying. There was something about his voice for me as a child that was soothing.

  9. s.... ....

This is what the documentary should have been.

  10. c.... ....

I thought he passed years ago. so glad he didn't.

  11. f.... ....

Didn't think I'd like this documentary, but I really enjoyed it. Paul comes across as a genuine down-to-earth nice guy. Williams is really an extremely talented musician and actor.

  12. t.... ....

This interview is 10 times better than the doc... Kessler basically made his film a sort of buddy picture. An ego trip getting in the way of what could have been a deeply revealing look at a unique artist and his life and work.

    termsofusepolice really??
I’m watching this and thinking “ I’m gunna watch the movie in the morning @ and still will.

He’s married to the mother of a child good friend... friend from middle school

  13. G.... ....

If you have to describe to people about the film, they didn't grow up in the 60,70,80,s and they know nothing about life, love, addiction and finding happiness a second time.

  14. G.... ....

Well done documentary about a really great guy,it is a must see.

Always wonderful to have an update Paul - Thanks for all the lives and families you have inspired and saved. Your next documentary needs to include your dedication in this area as well. Our "Family Intervention" Film continues to be made available wherever possible.

Mr. Kessler and Mr. Williams, I just watched your documentary tonight. I want to say that it was terrific. It was one of those ; "I've been waiting for something like this to be available, and didn't really know it, but when I watched it, it hit that spot." It was very touching and inspiring. Mr. Kessler congratulations on a job well done!

    M.... ....

I've been waiting for something like this too. If the filmmaker wasn't such a douchbag it would have been enjoyable. As it was we just came away with more appreciation of Williams. For instance why wasn't this clip in the movie? Cause Doucheboy wasn't on camera enough?

  20. E.... B....

There is a lovely, relaxed feel to this that is amazing. there's an openness and friendliness to the interview that communicates more than the actual words used. A great piece.
