Williams Jr., Hank - Pecos Jail Lyrics

I got in a fight in ol' Pecos town
And there I gunned a bigger bully down
A well the sheriff came a runnin' nobody set my bail
So they threw me back in to that Pecos jail

Way down where the floor is cold and the walls are dark
And very little sun comes in
And the sheriff's daughter brings me bread and water
Till I drop to a hundred and ten
But there's a funny little endin' to this tale
I think my future's in the Pecos jail

We fell in love the sheriff's daughter and me
One night little Suzy slipped me the key
Then she gave me a sweet kiss and I was San Antone bound
But my lips kept burnin' so I turned my horse around

Back to where the floor is cold and the walls are dark
And very little sun comes in
And the sheriff's daughter brings me bread and water
Till I drop to a hundred and ten
But there's a funny little endin' to this tale
I think my heart's found a future here in the Pecos jail

Slipped back in that jailhouse into Suzy's arms
Even in this cold cell she made me feel kinda warm
It's a sweet little Suzy that I'm thinkin' of
And in this jailhouse I found my true love

Way down where the floor is cold and the walls are dark
And very little sun comes in
And the sheriff's daughter brings me bread and water
Till I drop to a hundred and ten
But there's a happy little endin' to this tale
I think my future's here in the Pecos jail
Yeah I found my future here in the Pecos jail

This was his first album, He was 17, and it was a tribute to his dad, but he wanted to be famous for his own music and not his daddy's. My mom bought it and she didn't really like it that much, she was stuck on his dad, so it became mine, and I loved this song, cus I was just 9yrs. and still called Susie. I fell in love with Hank JR. OH and tid-bit many may not know, he was a baby when Hank Sr. died, he was raised by Johnny Horton what a lucky man, to have both of these great men in his life.

@livetoskateaz I can't argue the new music isn't near as good, but what I ask is wrong with the term "granddaddy"? It's a definite southern term that I've heard and used as long as I can remember. Hank 3 is very good in his own way, but he's pissed that his daddy didn't push a big label to put him on and promote him. He's actually better off doing his own thing. When Sheldon wants to really sing country, he's better than 90% of the new stars.
