Williams Jr., Hank - Mighty Oak Trees Lyrics
Like mighty oak trees
They line a shaded, well-worn path
They're the souls that have walked beside me
And I can see that, lookin' back
Friends that stood by me
Like mighty oak trees
They've helped me walk this well worn path
Down by the waters
Of a stream that never ends
They sheltered me from the noonday sun and guard me
From the wind
Now I close my eyes and I can see them
All once again
Like mighty oak trees
Strong and always there
When I needed them the most
You know they're rooted
Way down deep in my soul
Now I think about 'em all the time
When I'm out on the road
And every night when I lay down I know I'm lookin' up
At mighty oak trees
Like mighty oak trees
They have stood the test of time
They were always there to lean on
When strength was hard to find
I just hope that one day
You're lucky enough to find
Mighty oak trees
Mighty oak trees
Like those rowdy friends of mine

Williams Jr., Hank Mighty Oak Trees Comments
Everytime I here this song I think of Merle Kilgore
I know this is a tribute to his many friends but my great grandfather was my mighty oak tree...I thank him for showing me how to be a good hard working and honest man
Singing this for chorus at harbor day at my school! Yay!
love this song,friends are everything
This is real country music that has meaning to me
Do y'all realize that Hank was 59 or 60 when he recorded this song, and more good ones also on this CD. "127 Rose Avenue".
This was from 2009, "127 Rose Ave". This was probably the best song vocally, but the album has other great songs, yet went nowhere. The only single released was "Red, White & Pink Slip Blues", which was about the 5th best song on the CD. The story goes that Hank and Mike Curb had a falling out on this CD and I guess nothing got promoted. I often felt listening to the songs on this CD that if radio played them, he'd have had 3 more number ones. The Hall would have
been forced to put him in despite his bad behavior and foul mouth. This was his best I've heard from him since the 80s. Not quite to the level of 1969-1980, but he was 60 for goodness sake.
Great song by a great artist. So why isn't he in the Country Music Hall of Fame?????

andrewm 7691 Not to mentio n, he could play every instrument on stage and did at only 16; The youngest male recording country artist ever with two top 5s at 14 and 15, respectively, ten number ones; 58 studio albums; in 1984 he had 4 albums in the top twenty all year, a feat that has never been matched; fell 500 feet on his face, broke every bone, eye hanging out, and came back to accomplish all those awards listed above; revolutionized and changed the industry that still has many of the themes he began.
andrewm 7691 Also notable, he has entertained now 60 years and counting at age 68.
andrewm 7691 hankjr is up for hall of fame induction march 27. I agree should be in hall of fame.
This is in my opinion one of if not the best song he has put out in the modern era. It is a well written masterpiece and tribute to his closest friends and mentors. I wish he'd include it in his set lists.
The best...Bocephus.
What a heartfelt tribute to his many mentors and friends that have passed on. This guy has a pedigree like no other and the unlimited talent it takes to be the greatest country Entertainer ever.
God's blessed Hank Jr. with a voice like no other...so refreshing to hear a song that's not blasting people, but reminiscent of the man's great past...
hell yeah
hank one of the best
A song true to your soul.
This sure is a great song by bocephus, Never heard it before. Glad you posted that, THANKS !!!
