Williams Jr., Hank - I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry Lyrics
Hear that lonesome whippoorwill,
He sounds too blue to fly.
The midnight train is whining low,
I'm so lonesome I could cry.
I've never seen a night so long
The moon just went behind a cloud
To hide its face and cry.
Did you ever see a robin weep,
When leaves began to die?
That means he's lost the will to live,
I'm so lonesome I could cry.
The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky.
I'm so lonesome I could cry.

Williams Jr., Hank I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry Comments
Sure sorry for your loss, Mrs Drost. Your husband had great taste. Rodney Crowell's daddy called Hank Sr. "the Hillbilly Shakespeare". 'Nuff said.
Check out Sneezy Waters a Canadian singer songwriter he has a play about Hank.
It's called "Hank Williams: The show he never gave." about that New Year's eve in 1952.
May you be at Peace in Rest Hank
This is what country used to be.
The Beverly Hillbillies movie.
Amazing how this song is 70 years old but comments on here at current.
Never be another Hank Sr.
He was such a good songwriter. A natural. He'd had a hard life, poor guy. Such a shame his life was cut short.
Fuck being broke over someone breaking up with you I’m lonesome without my Doberman may he Rest In Peace sorry to all mourning animal lovers
2020 coming soon love
''This dude could sing!''
Fans love Hank Williams! They're petitioning to get him reinstated to the Grand Ole Opry: www.change.org/HankWilliams
Hank has gone such a long way in his incredibly short life. Long Live Hank Williams, Sr.
i'm actually crying. i miss her, kings
15,000,000 views wow nice.
I love Hank’s songs so much. My life has been dipped in shit for so many years. I lost my brother in 2005 from heart problems, I lost my mother in 2008 after she was stabbed, my father commit suicide later that year, I lost my sister in 2015 from a car accident and I just lost my grandmother last week.
I feel less alone when Hank’s songs play.. thank you Hank Williams 🙏
The 2.7k👎are from millennials who think Hip Hop is music and theirs more than one gender!
If you cant feel the pain in this song in his voice you are already dead inside
Hank Williams was queer
Karl Von ... foo
Elvis said this is the saddest song he heard in his life
The first time i heard this song was with my grandfather. who passed away yesterday. Will be playing it at his funeral.
Listen. No Auto tune. Not needed. No flashing lights and ass shaking. Not needed. This is just great singing and pickin.
It confused me for years why so many legends name dropped this man. I tried to listen to it when I was in my twenties but still couldn't understand. At 38 I finally do, and treasure every song I've heard.
So sad,Hank Williams really knew what being lonely was all about, and could really describe it in words The Best of the Best.
Tj simmer
The BBC Arena documentary about Hank is excellent. Worth watching.
This is true country music!!! Wow!! One of the greatest ever!!!
I'm soo Lonsame could woret
I have some of the best childhood memories with my dad listening to hank Williams as he sang the songs he loved
Wtf is wrong with people who dislike the greatest teacher of country music ever
I find this tasty good music and a good voice too, but, if I am allowed to make a critic... how the fuck did his mother let him dress himself? I mean... I almost heard nothing by him and I am aiming my interest on country music just from few months (with some exceptions) but these pictures arecommunicating something really weird that contrasts a lot with the look of any country singer I respected in years... I mean... I saw no shoting cowboys at Disney World and... a cowboy not licensed to kill... is just like a disarmed prophet, if you get the reference. There have been so many interesting outfits for southern men, and cowboys (even after those bastards of Village People almost ruined every hypothesis to associate a cowboy to a tight ass)... so why the fuck Hank had to took the cross of dressing like a retard nerd?
First. Last and always-Country and westerns best- No doubt George Jones, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves, Lorretta Lynn and Patsy Cline got their spot there too. There's 8-10 good country singers even now-Garth Brooks, George Strait, Alan Jackson, etc. but there'll never be another Hank. He wrote em as he lived em.
I don't like most country music. But Hank Williams is special. He was gifted. His songs transcend style of music & age. Like Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, & a few others.
Hey, Thank you for the info.
my friends don't wanna listen to hank...
You need new friends
No wonder he drank himself to death he was a miserable git
He had a reason to drink. Watch a documentary about his life. He'd had a hard life. His life was what could be called a tragedy; a gifted man with a fatal flaw.
One of saddest songs ever been recorded of any type of music just sad and alone
This is real damm country music
My best friend just died god damn im lonesome
NOW THATS REAL COUNTRY MUSIC 👍👍👍👍👍
*Country King*
My grandpa loved Hank sr before he passed away back in 2010 and he was a WW2 veteran
Love this man 's songs even though he was way before my time. Saw his Grandson yyrs. ago ,who looked & sounded so much like Sr. It still gives me chills! Greatest tallest I've ever heard Hank Sr thank you !
I don't think Jr looks like Sr. at all. He looks like his mother...kinda large, lighter hair. Sr. was wirey thin, dark hair & eyes, olive skin.
That was interesting documentary tonight about Hank, BBC four
My papa favorite singer he passed away August 6, 2019 and this is his song rip papa
A Screaming Firehawk was here.
I like this song , My Daddy used to sing this when I was a little girl.
A Família Buscapé
He reminds me of my uncle Carence.
The man was a genius.
Viva Colombia
Jack Daniels

Oh my the part of this song that really makes me weep is about the robin weep. That really makes me lonesome..
This, another song that was played on the juke box at Al's bar in Castro
Valley,Ca.I was about ten and my dad and I would go in there to have
a drink (of course I had a soda). It was an old time country western
bar and on the juke box played all the old C/W songs .I learned to
like those songs to this day .RIP pop.
2.7K people are morons
HE was a GOD.. just BECAUSE..he could put a few words.. into timeless expressions.. and the music..to boot.. am sure it RESONATED..with even the HARDEST SOUL.. MUCHOS GRACIAS..!!
I remember grow up with this song! My Parents loved music! Mom played the guitar and she had a wonderful singing voice!
Dad 1935 - 2000 and Mom 1944 -2017. This is for you mom and dad. Love you forever and miss you!
Totally Classic! My late mom and dad's fave
I'm a kid and love his songs I guess cause my dad did
Wake up in the middle of the night without a drink, and you'll understand this song.
Not sure what justifies not liking this. I miss you Grandpa more than words allow me to describe.
Still listening
I'm friends with Hank Jr. No shit.
In my opinion...the greatest country song ever written...the lyrics are amazing and have so many layers of truth and meaning...incredible.
This song is so timeless, it still chokes me up many decades later.
In my opipnon...the greatest country song ever written...lyrics are amazing and have so many layers of meaning....incredible.
so heartfelt loved this when i was in addiction now clean for ten years still love it
One of my favorite classic Country songs. Hank Williams used amazing imagery in his lyrics. He also was the master of telling a story..."three chords and the truth"...
To flaaaaa
I really miss having a man!!!
I'm 37 years old I'm so lonesome I could cry is my favorite Hank Williams song
Indonesian yihaaaaaahh
One of my Dad's favorite artists.... I grew up on Jr. but came to appreciate and enjoy Sr 's style of country. God bless them all
Years have past and time has flown
Since Hank Williams has died
And as the day turns to the night
I'm so lonesome, I could cry.
Rightfully called the Hillbilly Shakespeare.
Well i feel that feeling once agian but it aint as strong as it once was but im only a man so i must let someone else in my heart agian
I feel the same way.....
good music crosses borders, ignoring time and unite hearts, as it should be.
Hear that lonesome whippoorwill
He sounds too blue to fly
The midnight train is whining low
I'm so lonesome I could cry
I've never seen a night so long
When time goes crawling by
The moon just went behind the clouds
To hide its face and cry
Did you ever see a robin weep
When leaves begin to die?
Like me, he's lost the will to live
I'm so lonesome I could cry
The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry
Miss my daddy, he sang Hank’s song😪😪😪😪
If you dislike this then there is a 99% chance you've liked a Luke Bryan song so needless to say your opinion doesn't really matter
The king of country music
These are messages of writers & singers and we love to listen to them, but do we also hear the words which were written by the Lord Jesus for our redemption ?? [10.11.19]
Possibly the most beautiful song in country music. Sad, but joy is achieved from listening to it.
When can country music get back to its roots?
I'm a lonely man thank God I have my be friend Jim beam
We got the same best friend
One of saddest songs I've ever heard. 😌😌
Alex the expense Thanks
Timeless classic.
Hillbilly Shakespeare

I thought Volbeat wrote this song until now, I'm watching Zombieland and hear this song in the background when they're in the mansion.
"the silence of a fallen star lights up a purple sky. And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry"
A true poet. Died way too young. Thankful for having him for too short a time.
Rip tony
Good singer
That it's in waltz time makes the bittersweetness that much more profound.
Nobody, nobody owns lyrics and melody like Hank Williams!
Nobody.... there are others, but he was mt Rushmore level no doubt.
