Williams Jr., Hank - All For The Love Of Sunshine Lyrics

The darkness of my world was all cleared away
The flowers are blooming it's a beautiful day
There's a girl with a heart as big as the sky she's sunshine and I know why
All for the love of sunshine all for the love of sunshine
The Lord smiled down on this life of mine and sent me the love of sunshine

Though sunshine can always make my days seem bright
Sunshine can warm up a cold cold night
I know my sunshine was sent from above an angel that's filled with love
All for the love of sunshine...

Through winter the springtime the summer and fall
The moonlight the starlight she outshines them all
In a world filled with fear with pain and such harm my sunshine can't be so warm
All for the love of sunshine...
All for the love of sunshine...
All for the love of sunshine...

This video reminds me exactly why I cherish the paradoxically dignified insouciance of bluecollar Southern Ladies. Tremendous song too in 1970 Bocephus.B.W.

Funny thing about the scene with Oddball;s tanks playing this in Kelly's Heroes. The song never came out until 1970. How could they be playing it in a WWII movie, over 25 years before it even came out. One of the worst movie errors I've ever discovered.

    M.... P....

It's not meant to be historically correct. The song is on the sound track of the movie. The song was part of what the movie business does, which is to make "movie" money as well as to generate new money into the music industry. The two industries help promote one another. People hear the song and want to see the movie, and the movie helps promote the songs, and they are usually new recordings by original artists. This song went to number one; HWJR's first number one, which would not have happened if it had been released absent of the movie. Hank would have had to wait for "Eleven Roses" two years later, which had enough on its own merit to reach number one without the help of a movie. In fact, many more of Hanks hits from 1968-1974 should have been number ones, but due to a different kind of attitude in those days whereby many folks thought of Hank Jr as a threat to his father's legacy, it tamped down the popularity of those great hits just a bit, as his vocals were far better than most male artists of his time.

    M.... P....

The movie takes a lot of attitudes, sentiments, and culture from the late 60's and 70's and inserts them into World War II. The movie perfectly appealed to the mood at the time towards the end of Vietnam. It was not an error, it was intentional to signify what the movie as a whole was doing.

    M.... P....

Excuse my ignorance but what the hell.does have Kelly's heroes got to.do withnthis great song?

    M.... P....

@james raines that's a question easily answered on your own there friend. The internet is a mother beautiful thing babe, you're halfway there.

    M.... P....

Mike Preston-Engel Stop with the negative waves, think pretty thoughts!

  34. C.... ....

    Woof! Woof!

  35. E.... C....

Kelly's Heroes sucked but I like this song.

  36. B.... ....

His singing in this reminds me a lot of Conway Twitty.

  37. t.... ....

Excellent song and the video is the best!!!Thanks so much. That picture at 1:31 says it all.Bless you both.

  38. B.... R....

  41. M.... ....

Oddball, I can't fix the tank no matter how positive I think

    M.... ....

    Mechanical genius!

    M.... ....

Monstarules Please don't hit me with dim, Negative Waves so early in the morning.

    M.... ....

Gavin McLeod. PRICELESS!!!! He was wound about as tight as Kelly was. That face Eastwood makes at Oddball was cringeworthy supreme. What a trip!

  42. F.... ....

Something about this song makes me want to drive a Sherman through a tunnel into a German railroad station

    F.... ....

    HIT IT! FIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    F.... ....

dont forget to play "I've been working on the railroad" when you leave rail yard

    F.... ....

    Shotgun!

    F.... ....

    *French railroad actually

    F.... ....

    I'm with you

  43. s.... ....

    Kelly's Heroes brought me here!!!

    s.... ....

Moriarty: suppose the bridge ain't there? Oddball: [groans] Don't hit me with them negative waves so early in the morning. Think the bridge will be there and it will be there. It's a mother, beautiful bridge, and it's gonna be there. Ok?

    s.... ....

    "What're you doin'?"
"I'm drinking wine, an' eating cheese, and taking in some rays, you know..."
    "What're they doin'?"
"Well, the tank's broke, an' they're tryin' ta fix it."
"Well why aren't you up there tryin' ta help 'em?"
"Oh, man," *chuckle* "I only ride 'em, I dunno what makes 'em work!"

    s.... ....

    "WOOF WOOF!"
    That's my other dog impression.

  44. D.... H....

    Hanks first Billboard #1 hit....1970.

  45. t.... ....

Kelly's Heroes, one of my favourite movies, yet this song didn't come out until 25+ years AFTER WWII ended. Huge blunder in the movie playing this...

    t.... ....

Yeah, that ruined an otherwise perfect documentary about WWII, didn't it?

    t.... ....

Honestly. Oddball is a beatnik freak. That's another anachronism. *That* doesn't bother you, too?

    t.... ....

soooooo what? You're obviously the "anti-social type" hehehe

    t.... ....

The movie is through and through an early 1970's construction. (SPOILERS) The individualism and anti-authority of Spaghetti westerns meets the cynicism and anti-war mood of the Vietnam era. Eastwood's character, the demoted scapegoat of high up machinations, seeking his own self interest and disregarding both the Allies and Germans to do it, is cut directly from the string of Westerns he had portrayed in the past five years. They all basically disobey orders, desert to advance their own self interest, make a deal with a German tank commander on the basis of "we don't even know what this war is all about" and then run off to Switzerland. The movie turns WWII into Vietnam and paints a picture of this group of soldiers slogging it out in this stalemated situation in utter despair until they break out to seek their own ends. Don't get me wrong, I love this movie, I watch it all the time, but the idea that this song ruins the movie because it is "1970's song in WWII" seems to disregard the whole rest of the plot, which essentially takes the 1970s back to WWII.

    t.... ....

nothing about the movie was historically accurate, or even possible.
    why should music be different?
    it was fiction, adjust.
if one Sherman can go up against three tigers and win, even after hitting one with paint, they can attack a German rail yard while playing a song that wasnt written yet.

  46. E.... T....

Who came here after watching Oddball and his tanks?

    E.... T....

    Obviously the anti-social type

    E.... T....

    @Don A Woof woof woof.
That's my other dog imitation. Mmhmm

    E.... T....

Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves?
