Williams, Hank - Men With Broken Hearts Lyrics
You'll meet many just like me upon life's busy street
With shoulders stooped and heads bowed low and eyes that stare in defeat
Or souls that live within the past where sorrow plays all parts
Where a living death is all that's left for men with broken hearts
You have no right to be the judge to criticize and condemn
One careless step a thoughtless deed and then the misery starts
And to those who weep death comes cheap these men with broken hearts
Oh so humble you should be when they come passing by
For it's written that the greatest men never get too big to cry
Some lose faith in love and life when sorrow shoots her darts
And with hope all gone they walk alone these men with broken hearts
You've never walked in that man's shoes or saw things through his eyes
Or stood and watched with helpless hands while the heart inside you dies
Some were paupers some were kings and some were masters of the arts
But in their shame they're all the same these men with broken hearts
God why must these living dead know pain with every breath
So help your brother along the road no matter where he starts
For the God that made you made them too these men with broken hearts

Spoken word
Lost a brother in-law, He took his life, After he came back home from war. He was never the same. He was wounded in Vet Nome. Thank to all our Vets! May God bless you all. RIP Lamar,
Luke the Drifter, was Hank Williams, Sr. once upon a time.
I played my Daddy's Whole Album, over and Over, as a lil' kid, and this Always made me Cry!!
my mother had " Luke the drifter" album when I was 5 years old living in liverpool in the late 50s early 60s. She used to make me sit at the dining table and listen to the whole album. Iwasn.t allowed to leave the table until I had heard the whole album!
Nobody can help heal a broken heart like Hank Williams can...
Some only have one friend, that is the best friend a man can have, a good dog, the dog will always be by your side and never leave you.
Field sent me 11/25/19

I only wish this song was longer. Somebody needs to make a complete movie about this song.
Im the one hes talking about im the living dead.
I'm not a real country music fan , but this music cannot be denied. He has given these lost souls a voice. And like hank says, we are all but a step away. I always believed that hank williams was the robert johnson of country music.
He he...the static makes it sound like he's in the rain
It was, and is amazing what talent came out of this thin and frail man's heart. The best of all time.
Death is the beginning.
those that have been there really understand....
Simply a genius the songs that hank sung about most don't even live a lifetime to experience and yet gone at 29 wow no doubt about it it came from his heart
"Some lose faith in love and life when sorrow shoots her darts
and with hope all gone, they walk alone these men with broken hearts"
William Shakespeare could have wrote those words.
Why do you think they called Hank the Hillbilly Shakespeare?
The greatest singer and songwriter who ever lived!
I f you haven't ever been in this situation you can't understanding how lonely it is and how much it hurts.
looking at the world today...i would say it is worse than hell...for some

Hank knew the Pain these Men suffered-He himself loved & lost, too.
One of the best songs ever I think a lot of us have felt this way. I know I still do.
My all time favourite as is Hank .
I think hank wrote this song to tell not only his heart but to explain to others who have never felt how it fells to be fully broken hearted
"...unMade in America" - Zobo the Clown
Mankind has been breaking God's heart since the fall from Grace.
Thank your Guardian Angel for loving God and protecting you.
'We've heard enough about the rights of Man.
Let's hear about the rights of God"
- Pope Leo XIII
it seems ,as "Luke the Drifter" he opened his inner her.here was no show and glitter.
This is my life song...sadly

People always think country folk are crazy or ignorant n stupid but if u just take the time to stop n listen you'll know that our music comes from deep down inside from lifes experiences n things we have lived or seen or felt!! It's really just a poem a testimony of things in our lives!! I will always love old country music cuz if meant something n my daddy instilled me with the gift of old music n if u ask my 9 n 4 year old they'll sing u an old Hank song too! So they will know the gift of good music too!!! RIP Hank!! You were the best and always will be! Nobody can song it or say it like u!!

Leave it alone? what am I doing with it?
Leave it alone? what the crap do you mean? do you think you are the only person in the world who relates to a song?
>> that song moves me, from the first time i heard 'em norbert
😒 yes,
> many thanks for your reply sir - from germany norbert
the 1960s version had more echo and improved instrumentation on it....it improved it tremendously
I strongly disagree
just listen to the two side by side....the difference is huge....mainly because of the echo I think NOT instrumentation which is the same
Ron Naylor. This is the way. The original. Best. Thier is.
Why can I only give one thumps up? Great video as well! Adds to the song!
I have lived a lot in my time, from skid row in Miami, Fl., too where I am now. I have no regrets, I have learned a lot in my time.
Tex Ritter had a similar voice and performed many beautiful recitations, but this is Hank, not Tex
+Ellie Price And the Luke The Drifter collection is by far the best of them all.
Ellie Price I got to see Tex in concert once.
you can see tex if you just look up Ranch Party here on youtube, he hosted the show for years. don't forget he was the father of John Ritter the actor.
Wow, I didn't know Ted was John,s dad. John was a brilliant actor and comedian RIP buddy
Thanks this is me in a nutshell thanks again
I watched this and looked for your version many times!!!!!
These words still ring true.
Great music from the greatest singer ever. Could not realize that this was Hank Sr., his style was so distinctive. MGM was worried that these songs would hurt his popularity if released under his own name. Thus L:uke the Drifter.
frederick Hill Isn't that crazy? Anything Hank wrote and sang was pure gold, the Balm of Gilead.
The whole Williams family & their music is simply more addictive than heroin or vagina! I'm totally addicted!!! I'm sure y'all agree!!!
what about the mothers that are there
Maybe a broken heart is how God calls some of his children
back to him, and Hank Williams was born for that purpose.
Well I'm gonna fly away so we better get sheep wingspans
blacksheep624 😘
it shows the cruel side of God....
@junkman19571 WELL,... JUST THINK BOUT MAN'S, CRUEL SIDE BUD,... ILL TAKE THE ALMIGHTY S, HE FORGIVES, MEN DONT,... $R$D$

No one knows another's problems and troubles, we all fight our own battles, we have our demons, whether it be a woman, a bottle, or another problem.
@Ben Sundy thats very true brother
@Ben Sundy It's not the trials which are thrown at us,no gem can be polished without friction,no man rounded but for the trials he overcomes. We live and learn.
Great !!
I'd almost forgot this one and it well it is one of my all time favorites, course it helps if you;ve lived it.
Sounds like the voice of Tex Ritter, NOT Hank Williams!

So sad sitting in there private jets thinking they know country ahah what a joke luke bryan is a disgrace to country
@Mr. Wizard Yes but we are still more worthy of the honor than that faggot
You got that right , luke Bryan is a joke and a legend in his own mind
Hank would have never minded , He was and is a Pro through and through which made his loss so much greater

What can you say to a song like that, and the pictures that accompany it? There but for the grace of someone higher than us go we all.
jcbairmaster73 under the right conditions any of us could be anything.
We all need to figure out ways we can really help other people in these terrible situations. Buy a few cans of food and take them to the local food bank or Mission that cooks and feeds people. Maybe donate an afternoon at the mission once in a while to help out. I dont know but all these people and these families really need food, shelter, the very most basic needs there are. Can you imagine livng in a box in an alley, hungry and cold. We all need to help some.... Mike
Today I had to call an ambulance for a man passed out at a bus stop. People were just driving by, ignoring him. I really feel like I could have easily taken that path in life.
to Larry from floral park ny too bad brother and poor soul RIP from pat ,fred and your dunkin donut friends harry told me larry sorry to hear the bad news
You try being a street bum. Betcha you'd be begging for mercy after a week. It's not as simple as your notion that they are just lazy. For most of them, their obstacles include things like mental illness, drug/alcohol addiction and, yes, broken hearts that "make you wanna give up and lay down and die". Incidentally, that last bit was a Johnny Cash line from his brokenhearted song, 'Home of the Blues'. Homelessness ain't no picnic.
Thank you for putting pictures to Hank's great words............
